Court sentence

Court sentence in which the motions presented by António de Oliveira de Azevedo are not accepted for lack of proof. The complainant had received some houses that belonged to his father-in-law, D. João de Heranço de Carcomo, as a promised dowry debt. These properties were obligated to pay for the pious charges of two chapels, namely the one founded by D. Catarina do Carvalhal de Carcomo. António de Oliveira de Azevedo is obliged to pay them, and if he wants a discharge from D. Catarina’s chapel obligation, he should acquire a public debt instrument of 35 000 réis and give it to the priests.

Certificate

Certificate in which Frei António do Espírito Santo, sacristão-mor of the convent of Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo de Lisboa, declares that the religious have fulfilled in their church the celebrations established by Isabel Henriques in the chapel of S. José and by D. Catarina do Carvalhal in her chapel of Santa Catarina. Their payment was missing and should be provided by the owner of the houses in the Pátio das Comédias (Lisboa), who didn’t give to the priests a public debt instrument for satisfaction of D. Catarina’s chapel charges. It details the periods and amounts in debt.
