Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which Martinho Barroso establishes an entail, designating his mother, D. Isabel Forjaz, to administrate it, who should pass it, at the time of her death, to Capitão Francisco Barroso, the testator's brother. The latter would inherit the entail on the condition that he must give half of the entail's income to D. Margarida, their sister, Marcelino Leitão de Macedo's widow, as long as she lived, in order to support her. The entail's future administrators shall support the celebration of a daily mass for the institutor's soul in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where his body must be buried.

Court sentence

Court sentence exempting D. Francisca Taveira, Capitão Francisco Barroso's widow, from paying bail, as it was ordered in a royal provision, and confirming that she would be her minor daughter's tutor. It is declared that part of the public debt instrument entailed to Martinho Barroso's chapel should be used to support her minor daughter and her sister-in-law.

Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed by which Francisca Taveira e Horta, widow of capitão Francisco Barroso, as tutor and administrator of her minor daughter, D. Inácia Maria Taveira Barroso, establishes a daily mass in the convent of Santo António do Varatojo for the soul of her brother-in-law, capitão Martinho Barroso. Martinho Barroso had established a daily mass in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, entailing to it a public debt instrument set in the Casa da Portagem and appointing his niece, D. Inácia, as first administrator. However, the convent of Carmo refused the obligation, claiming the alms weren't enough to fulfill it, forcing the place of the chapel to be changed.
Contains letters-of-attorney, licences, dispatches and other processual documentation proving the facts presented by Francisca Taveira e Horta.
