Will

Will by which Nuno Mascarenhas, fidalgo da Casa Duque de Viseu e Beja, established the entail of Porches (and other properties) and designated João Mascarenhas, his second-born son, to be its successor. The administrator would be in charge of ordering the celebration of masses in the chapel of Porches, that Nuno ordered to build. Nuno wanted to be buried in his chapel in the Convent of S. Francisco de Setúbal, where his wife Catarina de Ataíde was buried.

Martinho de Castelo Branco, his brother, and suppression of Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco minority, so his resignation has value. Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, who inherited both entails when his mother, D. Catarina Barreto, passed away, also resigned to his primogeniture right.

Resignation and administration transfer letter

Resignation and administration transfer letter of the entails of Freixo Verde, founded by Fernando Pereira Barreto and his wife, in the outskirts of Loulé, and Porches, founded by João Mascarenhas, on the outskirts of Alcácer do Sal, from Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, first born son of D. João de Castelo Branco and D. Catarina Barreto, to D. Martinho de Castelo Branco, his brother. Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, who inherited both entails when his mother, D. Catarina Barreto, passed away, resigned to all the rights he had in them and to his primogeniture right, because he was going to profess at the monastery of Belém, in Lisbon, and clerics cannot succeed in the administration of entails.
