Validation letter of a resignation and administration transfer letter of the entails of Freixo Verde and Porches from Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco to D. Martinho de Castelo Branco, his brother, and suppression of Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco minority, so his resignation has value. Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, who inherited both entails when his mother, D. Catarina Barreto, passed away, also resigned to his primogeniture right.

Resignation and administration transfer letter of the entails of Freixo Verde, founded by Fernando Pereira Barreto and his wife, in the outskirts of Loulé, and Porches, founded by João Mascarenhas, on the outskirts of Alcácer do Sal, from Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, first born son of D. João de Castelo Branco and D. Catarina Barreto, to D. Martinho de Castelo Branco, his brother. Fr. Gonçalo de Castelo Branco, who inherited both entails when his mother, D. Catarina Barreto, passed away, resigned to all the rights he had in them and to his primogeniture right, because he was going to profess at the monastery of Belém, in Lisbon, and clerics cannot succeed in the administration of entails.

Entail foundation deed

Entail foundation deed by which Fernando Pereira Barreto, Fidalgo da Casa do Rei, and D. Catarina de Sequeira, his wife, entailed all of their assets, namely their farmstead in Loulé ("quinta do Freixo Verde") and properties in Quarteira and in Faro. They designated their daughter, D. Maria Barreto, to administrate the entail, determining that it had to be inherited by her eldest son and passed to his descendants. The deed was confirmed by the King.

Declaration deed by which Fernando Pereira Barreto and Catarina de Sequeira, his wife, confirmed the foundation of their entail and determined that D. Maria Barreto and the entail's future administrators had to support the celebration of 12 annual masses for their souls in a church chosen by their daughter.
