Grace warrant of administration

Grace warrant of administration on behalf of D. Maria de Lencastre, widow of D. Francisco Naper, and of her eldest son, D. Álvaro José Coutinho, granting them the administration of the entail of Valverde de Cavaleiros of D. Fernando Coutinho.

Lencastre, Maria de (flor.1673-1678)

Denunciation warrant of administration

Denunciation warrant of administration on behalf of the Secretário de Estado Diogo Soares, allowing him to continue to litigate over the administration of the entail of Valverde de Cavaleiros against the relatives of its previous administrator, the Marechal do Reino. The entail's administration would be granted to him if he won the lawsuit.

Soares, Diogo (flor.1636)

Court sentence (transcription)

Court sentence judging that the houses of Marechal, in the parish of S. Jorge, belong to the entail of D. Fernando Coutinho, marechal do reino, annexed to it by D. Álvaro Coutinho, son of D. Fernando Coutinho, and absolving D. Álvaro da Silveira de Albuquerque, defendant, from the request of D. José Coutinho de Lencastre, plaintiff, who argued that they are free assets.

Silveira, Álvaro da (flor.1683-1690)

Acórdão em Relação (transcription)

Acórdão em Relação judging the opponent, D. António da Silveira and his qualified son, D. Álvaro da Silveira, as the rightful successor of the entail of D. Fernando Coutinho, marechal do reino, located in Valverde dos Cavaleiros, Quinta da Pega and in the outskirts of Pinhel, because he is descendant of D. Beatriz Coutinho, daughter of the institutor, by her male son line, while Marquês de Távora, plaintiff, descends from her daughter. It condemns the Procurador da Fazenda and the defendant, excluded from the succession because she and her father are natural sons, altought she is the granddaughter of the last administrator, to relinquish the entailed assets to the opponent.

Silveira, António da (flor.1683)

Acórdão em relação

Acórdão em relação absolving the defendants, D. Francisco Naper and his wife, Maria de Lencastre, of having to relinquish the entail of Valverde dos Cavaleiros to the plaintiff, António Soares de Melo. The couple had the right to administrate the entail, since D. Maria de Lencastre was the daughter of D. Álvaro Coutinho, son of D. Fernando Coutinho, Marechal do Reino, its previous administrator. The history of the entail, since its foundation in 1519 until 1673, is minutely detailed.
