Will

Will of Lopo Lourenço, revoking the clause that stated the appointment of an old man with more then 40 years by the concelho de Sintra if his son, Artur Lopes, already deceased, did not fulfil the dispositions. He appoints his daughter Violante, to administrate the chapel, and his second wife Inês Valadares during Violante’s minority. If Violante died, the administration should return to Inês Valadares, and, with her death should pass to Fernando, and if he also died, the administration should be given to the lineage of his brother Pedro Lourenço.

Will of Lopo Lourenço and his wife Leonor Álvares, ordering, among other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel in the church of São Martinho de Sintra, with an yearly mass obligation of three masses, naming their son Artur Lopes. If any of the entailed properties was sold or dispersed, the administrator and his successors should immediately lose the administration of the entail, that would be transmitted to the Câmara of Sintra to appoint an old man, with more then 40 years, to administer it. A vault should be placed with the institutor’s names on it.

Grace warrant on behalf of D. Inês de Vilhena, administrator of the chapel founded by Lopo Lourenço in the church of São Martinho de Sintra, and widow of Pedro de Seixas, promissing the administration of the chapel to their daughter Madalena after her death, as a reward for the services made by Pedro de Seixas in Índia, where he died.

Acórdão em relação declaring that the chapel was vacant due to the extinction of the institutor bloodline, ended with Heitor Valadares, who died without descendants. Since 1539, the chapel was administrated by Simão de Seixas, and his son Pedro de Seixas, after him. As the wife of Pedro de Seixas, D. Inês de Vilhena, entered on the administration after his death, but only with a warrant to their daughter, Madalena de Vilhena. The entailed assets were seized until she presented the tombo and administration letter, but she died before the Tombo was complete. The desembargadores ordered that the administrator [probably Madalena] should complete the tombo, register it in Torre do Tombo, and that he or she should have a book to record the fulfilment of the masses obligation.
