Will (extract) by which Diogo Carneiro and his wife Beatriz de Castro founded a chapel, using the third of their assets for the celebration of masses in the Convent of São Francisco de Évora. They designated his son Francisco Carneiro de Brito to be its first administrator. Beatriz de Castro was the administrator of a chapel founded by her aunt Helena de Brito, and also designated her son Francisco Carneiro de Brito to be its administrator, ordering him to unit these two chapels. Followed by an approval deed dated 1574-04-15.

Will (extract) of Francisco Velasco de Gouveia, by which he establishes Baltasar Pereira do Lago, son of Gaspar Pereira do Lago, his nephew, as his heir. The testator entails all his real estate, including houses in Lisboa, lands (casal) in Mafra and the Fonte Boa's estate (herdade), in Ferreira do Alentejo. The entail's administrator was obligated to administer it with the chapel established by Beatriz de Gouveia, his mother, in the convent of São Domingos of Lisboa, and with the one established by Duarte de Almeida, in the same convent. Francisco added annual masses to the pious obligation his mother had already instituted. He chooses to be buried in the chapel, located in the cloister of the referred convent, where his parents lied.

Will (extract) by which Heitor Mendes de Brito expresses his wish to be buried near his deceased son, Diogo Mendes, in the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas of Lisboa, to where his deceased wife should also be transfered. This chapel had been given to him by the priests through a contract issued in 1601-11-04. He designates his two sons, Francisco Dias Mendes and Nuno Dias Mendes, as his executors, and orders them to entail a public debt instrument to his chapel with the obligation of a daily mass for all of their souls. They shall also be buried there, as well as all the successors of the entails he established for them.

The entail had an obligation of an anual mass in the church of Santo Estêvão de Alfama and of having the third parts of its administrators annexed to it. He declares he is in possession of the entail foundation deed.

Will (extract) of father Miguel da Fonseca, by which he declared that he wished to institute a chapel in the hermitage of Santa Ana, with the perpetual obligation of a daily mass. The testator left "um conto de réis" to be entailed. He appointed his niece Ângela da Fonseca, married to Gabriel de Araújo de Vasconcelos, as the first administrator, followed by her descendants, with the right to appoint one of her children as her successor. If she failed to do so, preference would be given to first-born sons. If they had no descendants, the entail would go to another of the founder's nieces, Mariana da Fonseca, or finally to his natural daughter, Marta da Fonseca. The administrators were obliged to use the family name and had to report to the Juízo dos Resíduos every three years on the correct celebration of the prescribed masses.

Will (extract) made in Pernambuco by Cristóvão de Barros Rego in which he ordered the foundation of an entail composed of one of his sugar mills named São Bento and Nossa Senhora da Conceição, with all of its lands, cattle and slaves, and also by an urban ground in Olinda, over which he imposed the perpetual obligation of one weekly mass celebrated in every monday, as long as the world lasted, in the chapel of Nossa Senhora of Boa Vista. To administrate the entail he named his grandson Cristóvão de Barros Rego, son of Manuel da Mota Silveira and his daughter Catarina de Barros, as first administrator during his lifetime, and, after his death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir. If Cristóvão had no heirs, the administration would be handled to his younger brothers, and if none of them had children, the entail would be administrated by the son of Simão Pereira Barbosa and Maria do Rego. If none of these alternative lines of succession produced male heirs, only then the administration would be given to the female heirs of Manuel da Mota Silveira and Catarina de Barros. The administrator would be obliged to give a wage worth 50.000 réis to the chaplain of Nossa Senhora da Boa Vista.

SUCESSÃO: filho Martim Mendes de Vasconcelos, sucedendo-lhe o filho primogénito. Na falta de geração, o instituidor determina que passaria ao filho Gaspar Mendes e descendentes, não tendo filhos ficaria à filha do testador, Maria de Vasconcelos. Não tendo esta filhos, ficaria a outra filha e não havendo descendentes ao parente mais chegado. O administrador ficaria com o remanescente do morgado, uma vez cumpridos os legados.
BENS VINCULADOS: terça imposta no chão que o testador houve das freiras, no engenho que fora de Álvaro Anes.

After the latter's death, it was to be administered by any grandson of Guiomar Pacheco, his sister, who was a cleric. Domingos of Lisboa. She appoints her cousin, D. Beatriz de Freitas, as the entail's first administrator, with the purpose of enabling her wedding with Jerónimo de Brito Caldeira, Helena's stepson. If their marriage left no issue, the entail should be inherited by the close relatives of Helena, from her mother's side. D. Beatriz was also obligated to support the institutor's three sisters, who were nuns in the convent of Chelas, during their lifetime. She chooses to be buried in the church of the convent of S. Domingos.

If Jorge de Barros has already died at the time of his father's death, the entail shall be inherited by his younger brother, João de Barros. He also establishes that the sucessors of his entail shall pay 30 000 reis to his sister, D. Joana de Vasconcelos, nun in the monastery of Odivelas, while she lives. If the lineage of his nephews is extinguished, the entail shall also be extinguished and the properties shall be given to the Ordem Terceira and to the Hospital of da Irmandade dos Clérigos da Caridade, with the same obligation of masses, or to the church of S.
