Will (extract) by which António de Paiva Giralte orders that his assets should be used to buy properties that should give enough revenue for an obligation of a daily mass and two annual masses in the convent of S. Francisco de Lisboa, where his parents are buried. This shall be done in a way that this obligation is always secure.

Will (extract) by which D. Leonor de Meneses established a chapel in the convent of S. Agostinho of Santarém, entailing to it all her properties in Santarém as well as her farmstead ("quinta do Paraíso") and determining that its revenues should support the celebration of 5 daily perpetual masses and sustain 5 poor people every year. She designated her nephew, D. Pedro, son of the Condessa de Vila Real, D. Beatriz de Meneses, to administrate it, obligating him to use her father's family name and coat of arms. During his minority, the entail would be administrated by his mother.
D. Leonor de Meneses ordered the executors of her will to build two graves in that convent where her remains and those of her father, D. Pedro de Meneses, Conde de Viana, would be deposited. She also asked them to deliver to the heirs of her sister, D. Isabel, assets that were granted to her by the Regent, D. Pedro. If he did not authorize that, the executors had to wait for 2 years and then institute a chapel with those properties. It would be administrated by D. Afonso, D. Isabel and D. Fernando's son, who would have to support the celebration of 5 daily perpetual masses in that convent and provide for 5 poor people.

Will (extract) in which Justa Vaz’s brother establishes entails for his children: Duarte, Martinho and Isabel de Castro do Rio, some of which are funded by money left by his sister. He declares that Justa Vaz appointed him as her universal heir, giving him the usufruct of her assets, during his lifetime, and ordering him to transmit them to one of his children or to divide them among them, forming entails. From the money she left, he thus bequeaths 12 000 cruzados to his son Duarte de Castro do Rio and 8 000 cruzados to this daughter Isabel, to found two entails. If their lineages are extinguished these entails shall be annexed to the entail he founded for his eldest son, Martinho de Castro do Rio, with the same conditions. He also bequeaths 40 000 cruzados to Martinho de Castro do Rio, which shall be annexed to the entail he founded for him. Martinho de Castro do Rio must also buy properties to entail to the obligation of masses established in Justa Vaz's codicil, which shall be administered by the successors of his entail.

Will (extract) by which Violante Afonso, Diogo Folgado's widow, transmits the entail established by her late husband to his nephew, Francisco Garcês, leaving him 50 cruzados which must be spent improving the state of the entailed farmstead in Talaminho, Amora. She bequeaths houses in Rua Direita de S. Miguel to Filipa Folgado, her criada, obligating her and her successors to support the celebration of a weekly mass for her soul in the church of S. Miguel of Alfama.
She also leaves 2 houses in Outeiro and Lapa to her niece, Isabel Delgado, determining that her and her descendants must celebrate a sung mass for her soul in that church.

She entails her third part and appoints her future child as her universal heir, with an obligation of a daily mass in her burial place and five weekly masses and a divine office in the Misericórdia of Setúbal. If her future child doesn't survive, she appoints her husband, Filipe Vieira, in his or her place. After his death, the entail shall pass to their closest relatives.

Will (extract) by which Diogo Nunes de Vilalobos expresses his wish to be buried under the altar of S. Sebastião of the church of Santo André of Lisboa. He establishes an entail with his houses in that city, his estate of Vale de Diogo, in Évora, and two public debt instruments in the Alfândega de Lisboa, with the obligation of a weekly mass over his tomb. He designates his natural daughter, Catarina de Vilalobos, as his heir. If she dies without successors, the entail shall pass to his niece, Guiomar de Faria, daughter of his brother, Francisco Mendes, and to their descendants. Besides the masses, the administrator of the entail shall also support another daughter of the institutor, Maria de Vasconcelos, nun in the monastery of Santa Mónica de Évora.

Domingos of Lisboa, in order to support the pious obligations linked to that entail and the celebration of a monthly mass for Fernando's soul. He also incorporates in that entail the third part of his assets, including the farmstead (quinta) of Cachoeiras, houses in Lisboa and a public debt instrument of 20 000 réis, which his sister gave to him. Part of the income extracted from that public debt instrument should sustain, each year and alternately, the marriage of orphan girls, the ransom of portuguese captives in Africa and the liberation of prisoners. He chooses to be buried in the chapel of S. João Evangelista, where their grandparents, parents and wife lied.

Will (extract) by which Simão de Melo declares he built a chapel in the church of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa to use as his family's burial place, and had promised to give the priests 20 000 réis of interest from his and his wife's third parts to fulfill its pious obligations. He appoints his wife as his executor, requesting her to finish the institution of his chapel, and asks their son, Filipe de Melo, to help her in this task.
It is mentioned this will was approved in 1568-11-18 and opened in 1569-02-10.

He appoints his son, Luís Mendes, to be its first administrator and asks the executors of his will to buy a chapel in the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas, where he should be buried and there must be celebrated annual masses for his soul. If the convent does not allow that, the executors are free to make a contract with any available church.

Will (extract) made by Pedro Lopes in which he ordered the foundation of an entail and chapel that would be composed of some lands, houses, two bulls, fourty cows and also twenty enslaved persons, over which he imposed a perpetual pious obligation of one mass celebrated every week as long as the world lasted, in the church of Santiago of Ribeira Seca, and also two masses, one of them sung, in All Souls Day. To administrate it, he named Miguel, an illegitimate son, during his lifetime, and, after his death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on his eldest legitimate heirs. Henceforth, all adulters and illegitimate children would be excluded from the administration. He disposed explicitly that if one of the tewnty slaves he entailed perished, run away or was "bad" at service, the administrator would be obliged to replace him or her immediatly, and also ordered that all children, male or female, born from the entailed slaves would become immediatly entailed to the chapel.

All the entail's administrators were obligated to support the celebration of annual masses for the institutor's soul in the convent of S. Domingos.

Another extract of the same will mentions a donation of twelve alqueires of wheat whilst another foro isn't "destratado", which the institutor gives to José Guterres, son of Jorge Guterres, her nephew, under the condition that if he dies without descendants, it shall pass to his sister, Catarina de Góis, who can bequeath it to her children. If she has no descendants, it shall be given to the Misericórdia of Lisboa. And if the foro is "destratado", the person who at that time charges the wheat will have to order 100 masses for her soul.

Domingos of Lisboa. After Leonor's death, it would be passed to her son, Duarte Vaz.
The testator also bequeaths other houses in Lisboa to Beatriz Nunes, her sister and Gaspar Ferreira's wife, instituting the pious obligation of celebrating 25 annual masses for her soul in the referred church. After Beatriz's death, the entail would be inherited by one of her legitimate sons. Inês chooses to be buried in the mentioned church.
