Will (extract) by which Pedro Fernandes and his wife Catarina Fernandes established an entail with the obligation to order the celebration of masses in the Church of São Vicente de Fora, in Lisboa. Catarina Fernandes left her third to her husband Pedro Gonçalves which, after his death, should be transmitted to her son Bartolomeu Rodrigues and his heirs. Pedro Gonçalves also declared that he wanted to leave his third to his wife Catarina Fernandes if he died first, with the same pious obligations. This entail is composed of some houses located in Lisboa.

Some of these properties belonged to her mother's third, and should be transmitted to her brother Francisco de Matos and to his eldest son. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses and to pay 30 000 réis for a chaplain in the chapel of São Domingos, in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Anunciada. The institutor also declared that she wanted to celebrate some masses for her aunt Inês de Padilha and Catarina Soeira's soul, using the rents of the houses they left her.

She designated her niece, Andresa de Albuquerque, and her husband, Jerónimo Pires, to administrate it, obligating them and their descendants to support the celebration of annual masses in the church of S. Brás and to maintain a lamp lit in their chapel. After their deaths, the entail would be inherited by their eldest son or daughter.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira, Jorge Leitão's widow, ordered the acquisition of a rent (foro) of 4 cântaros of olive oil in order to support the perpetual lighting of a lamp in the chapel of Santíssimo Sacramento of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa of Lisboa. She indicated that her husband had established a chapel in that convent, entailing to it stores in Rua Nova, and asked their daughter, Soror Joana de Jesus, to choose a chaplain to celebrate a perpetual daily mass for his soul.
The testator instituted another chapel in that convent, entailing to it his public debt instruments. She determined that Padre António de Sequeira would be its chaplain and that Jerónimo Leitão, her husband's nephew, would administrate both chapels. He had the obligation to give, each year, 20 000 réis to her daughter, only during her lifetime. After his death, the chapels would be administrated by António, his son, and subsequently transmitted to his descendants.

Will (extract) by which Isabel Caldeira made a joint last will with her husband André Fernandes, by which she declared that she wanted to left to Antónia Veloso, daughter of her niece Catarina Figueira, some houses located in Lisboa with the obligation to celebrate masses in the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Luz e das Neves located in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Lisboa. The institutors founded this chapel and left all their remaining assets to the Confraria of Nossa Senhora da Luz e das Neves.

Until the restriction was lifted, the revenues of her farmstead (quinta) in Palhavã should guarantee the fulfiment of those pious obligations.

Will (extract) by which Catarina de Freitas designated her husband, Francisco de Avelar Velho, Aposentador-mor da Corte, to be her universal heir and executor of her will. She declared that she owned houses on Rua da Portuguesa, Vale das Chagas, which her previous husband, Agostinho de Couto Velho, had entailed to a chapel of perpetual masses celebrated in the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto. The houses had to be transmitted with the pious obligation which was linked to them. The will was opened in 1670-12-20.

Will (extract) by which Clara Tomé ordered that a perpetual daily mass should be celebrated for his soul and for the soul of her late husband, Francisco de Lacrona, in the chapel of Santa Catarina of the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto, as well as other annual masses in honour of its patron saint. Every day, the masses should be attended by two women ("merceeiras"), who would be responsible for praying over the graves of the couple, sprinkling holy water. A public debt instrument of 100 000 réis had to be bought to support the pious obligations and delivered to Jorge Unselt [?], administrator of her chapel. He would have the power to appoint a chaplain and to choose the two women who would pray for her soul. The chapel's administrator had also the obligation to maintain perpetually alight a candle in that space. The testators' husband had established another chapel, leaving its administration to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which the Desembargador Paulo Chamorro Freire established an entail with two public debt instruments, houses on Lisboa and a rent (foro) in Pompalinho, Santarém, determining that its revenues had to support the celebration of a perpetual daily mass in the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto for his soul. He appointed Manuel Teixeira de Carvalho to administrate it. He would be succeeded by his descendants, who had to live in Lisboa. The testator asked the executor of his will to make an agreement with the friars of the convent where his body would be buried in order to guarantee the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for his soul and another mass every day of S. José. 2 000 cruzados would be given to them to buy a property, whose income would support those pious obligations. The will was approved in 1680-03-22.

Will (extract) by which Maria Dias left houses on Mouraria, near the hermitage of the orphan children, to Afonso Eanes, sapateiro, and his wife, due to the great love she had for them and as a reward for all of their good deeds. The property would be passed to their children and subsequently to their descendants. Afonso Eanes, his wife and their successors had the obligation of supporting the celebration of 10 masses, every year, in the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto. A copy of Maria Dias' will would be delivered to the priests of that church.

In order to guarantee the fulfiment of the pious obligations, a public debt instrument would be given to the church or convent where the masses would be celebrated. He asks his son and wife to incorporate in the entail, respectively, to attach to it the third part of her assets and his legitimate part.

Marcos de Noronha, his brother, Jerónimo de Melo, his brother-in-law, and Luís de Miranda Henriques to buy a chapel on his behalf, preferably in a convent of capuchin friars or of discalced carmelites. The testator also orders his son to buy a rent (foro) with the annual worth of 1000 réis, which should support the celebration of masses each year in the church of S. Nicolau of that city and guarantee the maintenance of the grave where are deposited his grandparents' remains, Francisco Alves and Isabel Antunes, located in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of that church.
