Will by which the Cardeal D. Veríssimo de Lencastre designated his soul as his universal heir, declaring that his body had to be buried in convent of S. Pedro of Alcântara's porch. The testator appointed his brother, José de Lencastre, Bispo de Leiria, and his nephews, the Conde de Vila Nova and D. Francisco de Castro, to become the executors of his will. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1692-12-06.

Chapel foundation deed

Chapel foundation deed by which Frei José de Lencastre and D. Luís de Lencastre, executors of D. Veríssimo de Lencastre's will, committed themselves to fulfil the legacies left by their deceased relative and established a chapel in the convent of S. Pedro of Alcântara in his honour, determining that their friars had to celebrate 4 daily perpetual masses. The chapel would be administrated by D. Luís, Conde de Vila Nova de Portimão, and by his descendants. They entailed to it a public debt instrument of 480 000 réis in Casa do Infantado. It is referred that D. Veríssimo died on 1692-12-12.

Acquisition letter

Acquisition letter by which Frei José de Lencastre, Inquisidor Geral, and D. Luís de Lencastre, Conde de Vila Nova de Portimão, executors of D. Veríssimo de Lencastre's will, bought a public debt instrument of 480 000 réis from Bartolomeu de Sousa Mexia, procurador da Casa do Infantado, and António Rebelo da Fonseca, tesoureiro da Casa, for 30 000 cruzados. The financial instrument would support the celebration of daily perpetual masses for Veríssimo de Lencastre's soul in his chapel. Contains copies of a royal decree and a letter of attorney.
