Will (extract) by which Maria Brandão bequeaths houses in Rua dos Escudeiros, Lisboa, to her brother, Diogo Brandão, determining that he and his descendants must support the celebration of 20 annual masses and an anniversary mass for her soul in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of that city. If her brother leaves no descendants or decides to become a friar, the entail should be inherited by Beatriz Brandão, the testator's sister.

They should do so only if at the time of her death the partition of their father's patrimony was still unfinished and the widow was unable to employ the third part of her husband's assets to buy a rent. She ordered the executors to prevent that João Gomes da Silva, her eldest son, treated the property belonging to her dowry as an entail, since it should be used to fulfil the pious legacies and to support another daily mass for her soul in her chapel. She declared that her and her husband had previously established agreements with that convent and that him had also founded an entail. She asked the future administrator of her chapel to fulfil its pious obligations.

The testator also leaves part of a house in Rua da Porta do Ferro to Maria, her grand-niece, and another house in Rua do Armazém Velho to Catarina, her other grand-niece, obligating both of them to support the celebration of weekly masses for her soul.

Will (extract) by which Maria da Costa established an entail with lands she owned, designating her great-niece, D. Beatriz, daughter of D. Maria and João de Valadares, to administrate it. She and her successors were obligated to celebrate 6 annual masses for the institutor's soul in the altar of Nossa Senhora do Rosário of the church of S. Vicente and a mass, each year, in the church of S. Estêvão of Penso. If D. Beatriz died without leaving descendants, she would be succeeded by her brother, Álvaro. The entail's administrators would also be responsible for giving an annual pension of 2 000 réis to Beatriz de Vasconcelos, the testator's niece who was a nun in the convent of S. Bento of Porto. As soon as she died, that sum of money would support the celebration of 10 more masses for the institutor's soul in the church of S. Estêvão.

Will (extract) by which João Domingues founded chapel with an olive grove near the road to Espinhaço da Cabra, a rent (foro) of 1 200 réis in a vegetable garden near Fonte da Rala and a rent of 900 réis in houses located on Olivença. He chose his grandson, João, to administrate it, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 2 annual masses for the souls of the institutor's parents, João Sobrinho and Teresa Vaz. If João died without heirs, the chapel would be administrated by António, Guiomar Domingues' son, or his offspring.
The testator established another chapel with an olive grove located near S. Francisco, designating his daughter, Guiomar Domingues, to administrate it. She and her descendants were obligated to support the celebration of 5 annual masses in honour of the five holy wounds. After her death, she would be succeeded by António, her son.
He also left Guiomar Domingues his houses on Rua das Carniças [?] and a vegetable garden (horta) near Fonte da Rala with the obligation of celebrating 2 perpetual annual masses for his soul.

Will (extract) by which Maria da Maia de Lemos, widow of Rui Gomes da Carvalhosa, determined that the value of the third part of her assets had to be employed in the acquisition of a public debt instrument of 50 000 réis or a rent (foro). Its revenues would support the celebration of a perpetual mass every All Saints' Day and other annual masses for the souls of her relatives and her late husband. The executors of her will were responsible for defining how much would cost the perpetual masses. The will was approved in 1599-07-19.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar Garcês established an entail with a farmstead in Caldas da Rainha ("quinta do Formigal"), rents (foros) and vineyards in Óbidos and Coutos de Alcobaça, incorporating in it the third part of his late wife's assets, Francisca do Carvalhal, and the legitimate part of his late son, Manuel Garcês. He designated his grandson, Manuel Garcês, to administrate it. If he died without leaving descendants, it would be transmitted to the granddaughter of the institutor, D. Maria. The administrators were obligated to maintain the hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Piedade, which the institutor erected in his farmstead, and to support the celebration of an annual mass every September 8.
He also appointed his grandson to receive the office of Escrivão da Alfândega de Lisboa, as it was allowed by the King.
The testator declared that he had made a previous will in which he had instituted an entail with his farmstead, appointing his son, Manuel Garcês, to administrate it. He was obligated to support the celebration of 13 annual masses in the altar of the crucifix of the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto. His son and D. Madalena, his wife, agreed with the terms of the deed. However, Manuel Garcês had died without being able to inherit it.

Julião. If her son-in-law died without leaving descendants, the entail would be given to one of her relatives.
She also left a rent (foro) in houses in Portas da Cruz, Alfama, to her daughter, Maria Dias. After her death, it would be transmitted to one of her children or, if she died without leaving offspring, to one of her relatives. The testator bequeathed another rent (foro) in houses on Rua do Espírito Santo and a rent (foro) in houses on Rua dos Pastéis to her daughter, obligating her to to support the celebration of annual masses during Lent. She was free to leave it to whomever she chose, even if he/she was not her relative.

Will (extract) by which Ambrósio Fernandes Brandão asked the executors of his will to buy a chapel of the convent of S. Bento of Lisboa, which should be devoted to S. João Batista. Inside the chapel, a perpetual daily mass had to be celebrated for the soul of the institutor. His remains, the bodies of his wife, Ana Brandão, of their descendants, and of his mother, Margarida Lopes Brandão, who had been buried in the convent of S. Francisco, would be deposited inside it. The testator's heirs were obligated to buy a public debt instrument of 30 000 réis to support the pious obligations. Luís Brandão, the institutor's son, was chosen to be the chapel's first administrator.

He revokes a previous donation he had made to his daughter, D. Joana de Noronha, married to D. Bernardo de Noronha, through a dowry deed issued in 1554-09-13, of a casal named Formigais, in Sintra, which was entailed to the chapel. He orders instead that this casal shall be re-annexed to the chapel and given to his son, Jorge de Melo, who he appoints as his successor, and who shall appoint his eldest son as next administrator.

He entails to it his houses in Fangas da Farinha, which had belonged to his sister, Justa Vaz, to be administered by his heir and by the confraria de Nossa Senhora da Conceição of that convent. He also orders that a candle should always be lit in the chapel. If the confraria is extinguished, the obligation shall be passed to the Hospital de Todos os Santos, and if the Hospital is extinguished, it shall be passed to the Câmara of Lisboa. He establishes that this chapel shall be the burial place of his descendants.
