Afonso, around 30 years ago, after the death of his father, Afonso Fernandes, but the corregedor da comarca de Portalegre hindered the administration and sequestered the assets' income because they were secular assets and Gaspar Fernandes wasn't relative to the institutor.

Until he came of age, Bartolomeu Lopes, squire and "criado" to the Bishop of Porto, would administer the entail. After that, the succession would go to the first-born sons, excluding clerics.
Chapel foundation deed of the chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, in Aldeia de Cima, Armamar, by Domingos Cardoso da Fonseca, who wished to be buried there. He entails most of his movable and immovable property to fulfill charges, reserving only a few, worth 1 500 cruzados, for the fulfilment of his will. He declares he would appoint the first administrator in his will, but if he did not, the administration would pass to Manuel Cardoso Madeira, his legitimate son, and then to his eldest son.

The couple declares that they have no forced heirs and are therefore free to dispose of their property. They decided to found a chapel with the perpetual obligation to celebrate 100 mases for their souls every year. The first administrator would be António Pinto, cavaleiro fidalgo, nephew of António Porto Carneiro, whom they had raised since early childhood, marrying him to their niece Filipa Dias. Succession in the chapel was primarily through first-born sons, and clerics were excluded from this role. The administrators had to live in Braga. If If they had to leave the city in the service of the king, they had to return and ensure that all the masses were properly celebrated.

As administrator, António appointed his nephew João Ribeiro, with the obligation of celebrating a weekly mass and other three masses in Christmas for the souls of the institutor and his wife's.

He entailed lands (tapada e olival) and rents (foros) in Telheiro to it. The institutor determined that, after his nephew's death, his son, Diogo Vaz Parada, and his successors in the administration of his entail would have the right to appoint a chaplain to celebrate the masses and to administrate the properties. António Vaz de Parada left 1 000 cruzados for the construction of the chapel.

The founder declares that he had previously received permission from the King to acquire property to be incorporated into a chapel he had built in honour of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, next to the church of São João do Souto in Braga. His nephew, Cristóvão de Coimbra, would be the first owner and administrator of the chapel, to be succeeded by his first-born son, with the exception of clerics, illegitimate children and those who had committed lese-majeste crimes. The estates could not be leased to "fidalgos", "cavaleiros" or "oficiais do rei", but only to farmers and labourers. Every year, during the mass of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the chaplain would read the deed of foundation to keep the memory of the founder alive.

Luís, Conde de Vila Nova de Portimão, and by his descendants. They entailed to it a public debt instrument of 480 000 réis in Casa do Infantado. It is referred that D. Veríssimo died on 1692-12-12.

The founder bequeathed property to the chapel, but also left 1,000 cruzados to be used for the purchase of other properties. Two-thirds of the income was to be spent on pious obligations, such as masses and the marriage of orphans. The documents relating to the chapel were to be recorded in the "Livro das Capelas" of the Juízo dos Resíduos de Braga, to whom the institutior also demanded constant vigilance in the fulfilment of the pious duties. The administrator had to live in Braga and keep a key to the chapel. Two "tombos" of the chapel were made.
Chapel foundation deed by Gonçalo Barbosa. The institutor had previously built a chapel dedicated to São Gonçlo, which was located in Santa Maria de Ardegão, next to the house where he was born. Gonçalo Barbosa entailed all his possessions and established the rules of the institution: the succession would be by legitimate descent, appointing the son or daughter who was considered the most obedient and capable of managing the estates. The appointment of the second administrator and successor was postponed to the time when the founder was to make his will. In the absence of relatives, the administration was to go to the S. Marcos Hospital in Braga. In the same document, his nephew, Domingos Barbosa, priest of São Julião dos Passos, also entailed to the chapel the property he had inherited from his cousin, João Barbosa, of the church of São Salvador das Almas de Vilar.

João Preto and his wife, Isabel Eanes, donated an annual rent of 150 réis and a chicken to that church with the purpose of supporting the celebration of a mass, each year, for their souls and the souls of their deceased relatives in the chapel of S. Vicente. The rent would be extracted from a vineyard in that place. After their deaths, it would be inherited by Fernando Eanes, their son. He and his descendants were henceforth obligated to fulfil that obligation.

She declares that before her death she would appoint a relative to be the chapel's first administrator, demanding that, every year, her successor should give 105 libras to the convent. Donation deed by which João Preto and his wife, Isabel Eanes, donated an annual rent of 150 réis and a chicken to the church of S. João Batista of Lumiar with the purpose of supporting the celebration of a mass, each year, for their souls and the souls of their deceased relatives in the chapel of S. Vicente. That rent would be extracted from a vineyard in Torre do Fato, Lisboa. After their deaths, it would be inherited by Fernando Eanes, their son. He and his descendants were henceforth obligated to fulfil that obligation. Inês Martins, Vasco Vicente's widow and João Preto's sister-in-law, declared that, after her death, a vineyard she owned in that place would be transmitted to her daughter, Catarina Vaz. She determined that the latter and her descendants had to pay a rent, each year, of 150 réis and a chicken to that church in order to support the celebration of an annual mass in that chapel.
Donation deed by which Lourenço Domingues, administrator of the chapel established by Afonso Eanes Zaratão, hands over the administration of that chapel to Vasco de Arez, with the consent of D. Afonso, bishop of Guarda, claiming that he was unable to fulfill the charges by being sick.
Donation deed by which Miguel Nunes de Carvalho donates all his movable and immovable assets to D. Maria de Paiva, daughter of João Correia da Costa and D. Maria de Paiva, his wife, in remuneration for the many services provided by their parents. The donation is made by establishing charges, celebrated in the church of São João da Ribeira, where the donor wanted to be buried. The donor reserves the usufruct of all assets during his lifetime. The first administrator would be succeeded by the son or daughter of her choice.
Donation deed by Pedro Brás, giving entailed properties to his nephew Gaspar Dias. His nephew should become a cleric, and the entails revenues' were meant to support him during his studies. Gaspar should abdicate of the entail at the moment he obtains a well sustained position. After that, the entail should be granted to the closest kin who wishes to become a cleric.
Donation deed in which Amador de Carvalho declares that he and his wife, Joana de Lima, have built a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Bom Despacho, making the necessary donations to the chapel's "fábrica" and establishing an entail that includes assets to be permanently attached to the chapel. They also imposed the obligation of celebrating two masses every week. Leonel de Abreu, a nephew of Joana de Lima, was appointed as administrator. The priest and next of kin would take over after his death. If there were more than two clerics with the same degree of kinship, the most virtuous would be preferred. Lay relatives were admitted only in the absence of clerics. The deed of donation had to be recorded in the "Livro das capelas" of Braga, so that the devotional obligations would be remembered and fulfilled.
Donation deed by Leonor Mascarenhas of her houses and backyards, in Montemor-o-Velho, to her son, António da Fonseca de Andrade, who will inherit these assets as an entail, which she and her husband, Gaspar da Fonseca, want to found with their available portions. The houses and backyards will be the entail's head. She also orders her husband to found this entail and list its conditions.
Donation deed by which Beatriz Esteves donates to Gonçalo Casco an estate, located in Machede, with pious charges associated, celebrated in the monastery of São Francisco of Évora. After his death, Gonçalo Casco shall be succeeded by his legitimate and suitable son.
Dowry deed by which João de Meira Carrilho, canon of Braga Cathedral and commissioner of the Inquisition, son of Gonçalo de Meira and Beatriz Mendes, decided to endow his great-niece Isabel de Meira Carrilho, daughter of Gonçalo Carrilho and Ana da Costa, by her marriage to Estêvão Falcão, fidalgo da casa do rei and son of Manuel Falcão Costa and Ana Maria Teixeira. João de Meira Carrilho left a farmstead in São Miguel do Couto, along with 10,000 cruzados to be used for the purchase of a house and land, declaring that all this property would be entailed. The couple would be the first owners, followed by their descendants, with preference given to first-born sons. The administrators were obliged to use the family name of Meira and to pay for the celebration of 50 annual masses in the Church of Espírito Santo, located in the São Marcos Hospital in Braga, where João de Meira Carrilho would be buried. João de Meira Carrilho also declares that he was the administrator of an entail, located in Castelo de Vide, which had been founded by his father João de Meira, chaplain to the late Infante and Cardinal D. Henrique, and to which he appointed his niece as administrator, since she was of "his blood and generation". João de Meira Carrilho acquired more lands and imposed more masses to be celebrated. He also instructed his heirs to place an image of Christ in the chapel of the mother church of Castelo de Vide. The image was engraved with the relics of several saints. It had belonged to the Emperor Charles V and was given to Manuel Álvares Cardoso when he was secretary to the Marquis of Arronches in Madrid, who bequeathed it to João de Meira Carrilho. In view of its importance, the image and the relics engraved in it were considered to be the head of the entail.
Dowry deed by which Miguel de Azevedo de Ataíde's sons, acting as his attorneys, granted Bento de Azevedo several estates for his marriage with Luísa da Fonseca. These estates should be entailed, with pious obligations, and be transmitted to Bento's offspring.

Antónia de Sequeira, his wife. After the death of Nicolau de Matos Leitão, the administration should pass to a son of his choice, and the same would happen in the following generations. If descendants were lacking, a recolhimento should be founded, invoking Senhora da Piedade, in the place of Mealhada, on the outskirts of Castelo de Vide.

Entail and chapel foundation deed by Father Bartolomeu Velho, parish priest in São Julião de Freixo. Bartolomeu declares that he had built an hermitage in Navió dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Assunção, to which he entailed estates. The administrator of the chapel was to be named in a later will. However, the succession to the chapel was to be by blood, with clerics being preferred. If there were no clerics, the administration would be in the hands of a layman appointed by the last owner. All administrators were obliged to use the family name, to inherit estates and to be Old Christians. Illegitimate children were excluded from the administration.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by priest Fernando Rodrigues de Carvalho, under the invocation of Santo António of Arguedeira, in the parish of São Pedro de Tarouca. The institutor entails assets to the chapel, which he had already ordered built and where he wants to be buried, for their maintenance and fulfillment of charges. He appoints priests Domingos da Silva and Ambrósio de Carvalho, as first chaplains and Lucrécia Lopes de Carvalho, daughter of Baltazar Rodrigues, his cousin, as first administrator. Licenciado Domingos de Carvalho, canon of the cathedral of Lamego, uncle of Lucrécia Lopes de Carvalho, undertakes to attach to the entail all the property inherited from his parents.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by Francisco Rodrigues. As a single man with no heirs, Francisco wished to found a chapel "por via de morgado". The masses would be celebrated in the church of Santa Cristina de Algoso. The first administrators would be his brother Gaspar Rodrigues and his nephew José Rodrigues, with the power to appoint a son or daughter in each half of the entail. However, the appointed successor had to be related to the founder.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by Gonçalo de Araújo da Silva and his wife Maria de Caldas Bacelar. The couple declared that they had founded a chapel in their farmstead of Eiras, in São Salvador de Pedralva, the construction of which had not yet been completed but was to be finished, with the images of São Gonçalo and Santa Maria inside. They entailed properties and rents to the chapel, with the perpetual obligation to celebrate masses every sunday for the souls of the founders. The first administrator would be their son-in-law, Sebastião Machado de Azevedo, who had the power to appoint a relative to succeed him, excluding clerics and forbidding marriages with people of Jewish, Moorish, black or mulatto descent. The administrators were obliged to use the family name and to entail properties. The deed of foundation had to be registered in the "Livro das Capelas do Registo Geral" of Braga.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by Manuel Ribeiro Coelho and his sister Maria Coelho. The rents of the entail were attached to the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Gafanhão. After their deaths, the administration would pass to their niece Francisca Coelho; if she died without descendants, his brother Domingos Teixeira would take possession of the entail. The successor would preferably be the first-born son and was obliged to use the surnames Ribeiro or Coelho.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by André Ribeiro Beltrão and Maria Osório de Almeida, his wife. They entail a third of their assets, in an amount greater than 12 000 cruzados, to fulfill the charges, celebrated in the chapel they would have built in Cassurrães. They appoint Miguel Osório Beltrão de Almeida, his eldest son, administrator. In case of extinction of the lineage, the administration of the link would be the responsibility of Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Aguiar da Beira. The founders were administrators of the entail instituted by António de Almeida, his grandfather, to which they entailed a property, in order to fulfill their institution. They also order that the same register in the respective tombo.
Entail and chapel foundation deed by Brás Rodrigues Pita and Isabel Mendes Dantas, his wife, in Caminha, ordering the celebration of masses in the monastery of Santa Clara of Caminha and appointing the last one of them to die as the first administrator and, after his or her death, his legitimate daughter, Inês Vaz Pita. This deed should value as a will or codicil. Deed approved in 1608-08-05.
Entail foundation deed by which João de Morais Colmieiro, Cavaleiro da Ordem de Cristo e Capitão-mor na vila do Paço, and Ana de Sá, his wife, established and entail with properties in Vale das Fontes, Terra da Torre and Monforte do Rio Monte. After the death of the institutors, it would be transmitted to a son of their choosing and subsequently passed to his descendants. In order to fulfil the last wish of João de Morais Colmieiro's uncle, Jácome de Morais Comieiro, deão of Cape Verde, it is also determined that every administrator of the entail had to support the perpetual celebration of 2 weekly masses in the chapel of Santo Amaro, in Prada, which the testators had built.
Entail foundation deed made by Rodrigo Álvares dos Santos and his wife Leonor Ribeiro founding the chapel of Madalena built in the church of Santa Eufémia, in Penela. They choose for the administration of the chapel the one who survive to the other and after them their sons.
Entail foundation deed by António Barbosa Fiúza, priest in São Julião de Passos. The founder recognised the importance of the celebration of perpetual masses for the benefit of souls, which is why he decided to establish a "morgado ou capela", entailing all his possessions. The heir would have the perpetual obligation to ensure that two masses were celebrated every week in the church of Vila Nova de Cerveira, where the founder was born and where he was to be buried. He appointed his nephew Miguel Barbosa Fiúza as the first administrator, or alternatively, if Miguel had obtained a well-paid position, another nephew called Tomé Barbosa Fiúza. First-born sons were preferred to succeed. Each administrator was obliged to use the surnames Barbosa and Fiúza and to marry according to his parents' wishes. If there were two or more relatives with the same degree of kinship, preference was given to those who had obtained a university degree, first those who had studied at the University of Coimbra and then those who had studied at the Sapienza University of Rome. Within two years, an inventory of the estates had to be made, with three copies: one for the administrator, one for the "Livro das Capelas" of the Juízo dos Resíduos and one for the "Provedor da Comarca".

They entail different properties and public debt instruments, some left by Ana de Moura, sister and sister-in-law of the institutors, as an entail. They appoint Baltasar Leitão da Silveira, their son, first administrator, and his sons and descendants should succeed him. Baltasar Leitão da Silveira is bound to fulfil the institution.
Entail foundation deed by which Diogo Marmeleiro and Catarina de Lemos, his wife, found an entail in the chapel of Jesus of the church of Santa Justa of Coimbra. The institution is carried out in the form of a contract, between the institutors and the prior and beneficiados of the church of Santa Justa. The institutors entail various assets, appointed, for the fulfillment of charges, celebrated by the beneficiados of that church, who would receive, annually, 6 000 réis, divided into two tranches. Beneficiados authorize the institutors to be buried in the aforementioned chapel, being able to beautify it as they wish, being, however, obliged to supply various liturgical furnishings.
Entail foundation deed of Frei Fernando de Sequeira de Monroy, entailing several properties located on the outskirts of Elvas and Monforte. He appoints Luís Vaz de Sequeira, his nephew, son of Lopo Vaz de Sequeira, his brother, first administrator, to whom the eldest male son should succeed. In case of extinction of the lineage, the administration would pass to the bishops of Elvas. Lopo Vaz de Sequeira and D. Beatriz de Vilhena, his wife, attach assets to the same entail.
Entail foundation deed by which Luís Ribeiro and D. Isabel Pacheco, his wife, establish an entail with the third part of their assets, which includes a farmstead (quinta) in Samouco, Alcochete, houses in Lisboa, lands (casal) in Benfica and in Carnaxide, lands (casal) in Linda-a-Velha, Oeiras, and a public debt instrument of 50 000 réis in Casa e sisa das herdades. They designate their eldest son to become its first administrator, determining that him and his descendants should support the celebration of annual masses for their souls in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of that city, in whose sacristy their chapel would be erected.
Entail foundation deed by father João Filipe de Azevedo. The testator decides to entail all his property, namely his houses in Outeiro. The entail included the obligation to ensure that six annual masses were celebrated in the Church of São Romão da Ucha. All administrators were obliged to use the surnames of the founder, and clerics were preferred to laymen.
Entail foundation deed by Baltasar Carneiro, with 20 annual masses to be celebrated in the chapel of Santa Marta, in Braga's cathedral. For the administration, the institutor appointed Diogo Pinto, citizen of Braga, granting him the power to choose one of his children as successors. After that, the administrator should preferably be the eldest son.
Entail foundation deed by which Afonso Domingues de Beja, Cavaleiro do Conselho do Rei D. Fernando, and Maria Domingues, his wife, established an entail with houses in Lisboa, a farmstead in Montachique ("quinta de Vale Namorado"), lands in Bucelas, Romeira and Sintra. They designated their son, Pedro Afonso, to become its first administrator, obligating him and his successors to sustain a chaplain in the church of S. Bartolomeu of Lisboa, who would be responsible for celebrating perpetual masses for their souls, and to provide for a poor person, giving him/her food and clothes every year. Pedro Afonso had to be succeeded by his brother, João Afonso, or, if he died before him, by his eldest son. The institutors declared their intention to found another entail with properties in Alentejo, who would be administrated by the heirs of Maria Domingues. Pedro Afonso and João Afonso approved this deed.
Entail foundation deed by which Afonso Dias, cavaleiro vassalo do rei D. Fernando I e do seu Conselho, and his wife, Maria Dias, establish an entail headed by their houses in Montemor-o-Novo, and containing properties in Benavente, Alcácer do Sal, Arraiolos, Coruche, Lavra and other places. They bequeath it to João Dias Carvalho, brother of Maria Dias, with the obligation of ordering masses for the souls of the king and queen in their chapel of Santa Maria do Açougue in Montemor-o-Novo and of feeding the poor.
Entail foundation deed by which António Rodrigues da Câmara founded the chapel of Reis Magos, in the Church of Santa Maria da Estrela. The institutor ordered his successors to maintain the chapel and entailed his properties located in Ribeira Grande, in the island of S. Miguel.
Entail foundation deed by António Garcia and Maria Fernandes, his wife, with a chapel of the invocation of Chagas de Cristo, located in Rossio, in the town of Lagares.

They entailed assets for their maintenance and determine that the chapel is administered by their descendants. Entail foundation deed by which Doutor Rodrigo Monteiro, do Conselho do rei, established an entail, designating his son João Rodrigues Monteiro to be its first administrator. He annexed to the entail the patronage of the church of São Pedro de Arrifana, on the outskirts of Santarém. The institutor also declared that he had been the administrator of Rui Gonçalves Franco's entail, in the Monastery of Santa Clara de Lisbon, from which he was removed by demand. He wanted to unite both entails if it would be proven that he had the right to administer Rui Gonçalves Franco's entail.
Entail foundation deed of Manuel Lobo Pereira. He entails the farm of Penavila, in the parish of São Salvador de Delães, on the outskirts of Barcelos, and a farmhouse (casal) in the parish of São Cristóvão de Rio Mau, to fulfill charges. He appoints Mateus Pereira, his brother, first administrator. The latter had to appoint a legitimate son to succeed him in the administration. If he did not appoint any, the eldest would succeed. If his mother was still alive when the founder died, she would administer the chapel for the rest of her life and only after her death would it pass to Mateus Pereira.
