Will (extract) by which Afonso Martins Vaqueiro founded a chapel, incorporating into the entail a plot of land located in the "herdade" of Paredes, and a vineyard in Reguengo, on the outskirts of Viana do Alentejo. He designated his nephew Diogo Pires, son of Pedro Martins, to be its first administrator and declared that he should be succeeded by his eldest son.

Will (extract) made by Francisco Pires and Maior Gonçalves, in which they designate João Franco as heir of all their properties, with the condition of establishing a chapel to celebrate a daily mass for their souls, with the right to transmit the administration to his offspring.

Will (extract) by which Pedro Francisco orders that houses be bought to entail to an obligation of weekly masses for his soul in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. He appoints Fernando Eanes, his relative, as administrator, with capacity of appointing the next one, who has to be male.

Will (extract) of Vasco Esteves. He leaves the Quinta da Figueira to Vicente Esteves, his brother, with charges, celebrated in the monastery of São Domingos of Lisbon, where he wanted to be buried. After his death, it should be left to his eldest, legitimate son.

Will (extract) by which Vasco Esteves, prior da igreja de Algodres, bequeaths his farmstead (quinta) of Figueira and mills (azenhas) in Coruche to Vicente Esteves, his brother, with the obligation of giving barrels of red wine and wheat to the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa, each year. Its friars should celebrate annual masses in exchange for that donation. The testator's remains should be buried inside that convent.

Will (extract) by which Álvaro Antunes do Varejão entails the third part of his assets to the entail previously established by his late wife, Inês de Abreu, appointing his son, Francisco Álvares, to be its first administrator. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Lisboa, where his parents' bodies would be buried. This entail is composed of a farm, an olive grove and lands in Lisboa.
The testator also orders his son to buy a rent (foro) with the annual worth of 1000 réis, which should support the celebration of masses each year in the church of S. Nicolau of that city and guarantee the maintenance of the grave where are deposited his grandparents' remains, Francisco Alves and Isabel Antunes, located in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of that church.

Will chart by which Francisco de Alva Brandão founded three entails. The first one was composed of the farmsteads of Santa Catarina and Pontafigo, in the island of São Tomé, and was to be administered by his brother, Mateus de Alva, who should be succeeded by his son, Francisco. The second one had an obligation of annual masses in the convent of Capuchos, in Castelo de Vide, and was to be administered by Roque Nunes Barradas, the institutor's brother-in-law, who should be succeeded by his wife, Violante Brandão, sister of the institutor, and by their eldest son. The third one would also have an obligation of masses in Castelo de Vide and would be administered by Violante Brandão, and afterwards by one of her sons or daughter, who would be chosen by appointment.

Will chart of Fernando Álvares, ordering his grave in the church of São Lourenço [de Azeitão], in the grave of Gomes Álvares, his father. He entails two vineyards and a few houses to create an albergue for pilgrims in the village of Freixo, on the outskirts of Sesimbra, and appoints António Álvares, his son, as first administrator. This one had to appoint the son or grandson that he wanted to succeed him.

Will made by Miguel Tavares, in which he ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in altar of Vera Cruz, in the monastery of São Francisco of Portalegre. The institutor named D. Branca, his wife, as first administrator during her lifetime and, after her death, D. Branca would be succeeded by a grandson of father of Miguel Tavares and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir, legitimate and had the family name Caldeira Tavares.

Will chart by which Bento Gonçalves de Sequeira, Cavaleiro da Casa do Rei, bequeathed the third part of his assets, including his farmstead (quinta) of Fonte Coberta, to his son, Belchior de Burgos, contador, obligating him and his descendants to give, each year, 4 500 réis to the church of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires of Lisboa to support the celebration of annual masses for his soul. After his death, the entail would be inherited by his eldest son. He also left him his post of Escrivão das Fianças. The testator declared that his body had to be buried alongside the remains of his wife, Helena de Burgos, and of his brother-in-law, Pedro de Burgos, in that church. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1568-07-26.

Will chart made by Jerónimo Henriques da Veiga in which he ordered his burial in the main chapel of the Santo Adrião church, in Póvoa de Santo Adrião. He orders the transfer of the bones of his parents, brothers, wife and children, all buried in the convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus, to the main chapel of the aforementioned church. He also ordered the foundation of a "morgado", entailing all his goods for the fulfilment of charges, celebrated in that church. He appoints António, son of João Batista da Fonseca and D. Clara de Oliveira, his godson, to be the first administrator. After his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest son. The administrators were obliged to reside in the Kingdom.

Will chart by which José Caires established an entail, incorporating assets for the fulfillment of the pious charges in the parish of Nossa Senhora do Calhau, in Funchal. He designated his brother Luís Caires to be the first administrator, and it should succeed him José, his son, and nephew and godson of the institutor.

Will chart of João Baquar, ordering his grave in front of the altar of São João, in the church of Santo António. He entails his real estate assets in an entail and appoints Gil Vicente as the first administrator. His eldest son was to succeed him, excluding women. The account of the administration mentions that this entail is composed of houses, "marinhas", olive groves, orchard and vineyards near to this church.

Will chart of Diogo da Fonseca founding an entail and annexing it to the old entail that he already had founded. He appoints his son Francisco to be its administrator. He had also established a chapel in the monastery of Santa Maria da Graça, of the order of Santo Agostinho. In case of extinction of the order, it would be administered by the councilors of the Lisbon municipality, who would choose an administrator with a 10-year term.

Will by which D. Ana de Ataíde, widow of D. Henrique de Portugal, established an entail, with the obligation to celebrate masses in the Convent of Santa Maria de Jesus de Vale de Figueira, in Arrábida, that was founded by her husband's parents. The institutor referred that her and her husband had the "padroado" of this Convent and that they moved and rebuilt it in another place. She wanted that the "padroado" would be always incorporated into this entail and that the successors should give to the friars of this convent some alms for their subsistence. The institutor designated her grandson D. Álvaro and his heirs to be its successors and to be buried in this Convent. If he died childless, it should succeed the other heirs of her son D. Manuel. This entail is composed of a farm of "Fonte do Marno", a "casal" on the outskirts of Torres Vedras, lands on the outskirts of Sintra, houses and a public debt instrument of 30 000 réis.

Will by which Doutor Diogo Lopes de Carvalho, Ouvidor da Casa da Suplicação, established an entail with all his assets, including houses in Rua do Espírito Santo, Guimarães. He designated his nephew, Licenciado Gaspar de Carvalho, to administrate it, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 3 annual masses for his soul in the hermitage of S. Sebastião of Guimarães, where his body and his parent's remains would be buried. After his nephew's death, the entail would be transmitted to his eldest son. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1532-10-10.

Will by which Joana Pacheco declared that she and her husband, Estêvão da Gama, Fidalgo da Casa do Rei, agreed to establish a chapel in the church of Salvador in Elvas, where their bodies would be buried. A daily perpetual mass had to be celebrated in that chapel in perpetuity. Those pious obligation would be supported with the revenues of houses that the institutors owned in that city. The testator appointed Maria da Gama, her daughter, to administrate it, determining that she would be succeeded by her son, Estêvão da Gama. Followed by an approval deed (1545-07-2[7], fl. 88).

Will by which Leonor Gil, Nuno Fernandes' widow, establishes an entail with her lands (casal) in Corveira, in the outskirts of Sintra. She appoints her nephew, Gil Rodrigues, bacharel, to be its first administrator, with the obligation of celebrating annual masses for her soul and lighting a torch every holy thursday, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She orders her heir to buy a property worth 140 000 réis, which should be incorporated in her entail. She asks to be buried in that church, inside the grave where lied her husband.

Will by which Henrique de Noronha established an entail, appointing his nephew Rui de Matos Noronha to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Bucelas. This entail is composed of a farm called "Boução" with its houses, mill, olive press, vineyards, olive groves, orchards and lands located in Bucelas.

Will of Ausenda Leonardes founding a chapel dedicated to São Lucas in the church of São Tomé, in Lisboa, ordering that it must have two chaplains. She appoints her nephew Afonso Domingues and his descendants for its administrator.

Will of António Gonçalves instituting an entail with pious deeds and appointing his nephew Pedro Fragoso as successor, to be succedeed by another nephew, the second son of his brother Diogo Gonçalves.

Followed by the approval deed (1609-08-21, fls. 101v-102).

Will by which Gonçalo Dias de Abreu expressed his wish to be buried in the main church of Crato and established an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of a weekly mass. He named António Dias de Abreu, his nephew, to administer the entail during his lifetime, and, after this death, the succession should continue on the eldest male heir, since female heirs were excluded by all means from the administration. Gonçalo also appointed his nephew António Dias de Abreu to administer the chapel founded by António Dias Preto, composed of farmlands in Crato, and his nephew Francisco Aires to administer the chapels founded by João de Andrade and João Dias Cabaço.

Will by which António Carneiro, secretário do rei, do seu Conselho, and widower of Beatriz de Alcáçova, expresses his wish to be buried in the chapel he possessed in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, with the obligations of masses listed in its table. He entails to this obligation his properties in Benfica, Alcoinça, Torres Vedras and Tomar. He designates his eldest son, Pedro de Alcáçova Carneiro, as first administrator, and his male descendants afterwards.

Will by which Álvaro de Valadares, son of João de Valadares and Ana de Azevedo, founded an entail, incorporating the farm of Póvoa and his third with the obligation to celebrate masses wherever he would be buried. He designated his wife Antónia Carneiro to be its first administrator and, after her death, his eldest son João Valadares Carneiro. If he did not have heirs, this entail should be succeeded by his second son Pantaleão and his heirs.

Will of Francisco Babo. The testator outlines the different burial options depending on where he died: if he died in Braga, his body was to be buried in the Cathedral; if he died in Porto, he was to be buried in the Cathedral, next to his father Rui Babo; if he died at his estate in Carude, he was to be buried in the Church of São Mamede de Escariz, next to his son Baltasar Babo. Francisco appointed his nephew Jorge Babo as his universal heir, stating that all his possessions were to be entailed in perpetuity. The holders of the entail were obliged to ensure the celebration of 12 annual masses in the church of São Mamede de Escariz, for the benefit of the soul of the founder and the soul of his deceased son Baltasar. They were also obliged to use the family name of Babo. The first-born son would have priority in the succession, and women and illegitimate children were always excluded from the administration.

Followed by the approval deed (1553-08-27, fls. 61-62).

Will of João Fernandes and Catarina Rodrigues Pimenta, his wife, naming heir and executor whatever survived of them. They want to be buried in their chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Moura. They establish a chapel, entailing all their untested assets, to fulfill the charges. They nominate the one who survived as the first administrator, and it was up to him or her to nominate the successor, and so on. If one of the administrators did not appoint a successor, the chapel would pass to the judges and clerk of the municipality of Moura.
The will allows for the survivor of the couple to establish another chapel, in the hermitage of Santo António, with the assets located there. If not, they would revert to the main chapel.
It is inserted in an exemplification (dated 1622-06-13), with an approval deed (dated 1504-12-26).

Will of Salvador Mendes and Maria Pais/Pires, establishing a chapel in the Church of Santa Maria Madalena in Monforte, with the obligation of a daily requiem mass, along with other masses on the main religious festivities of the year. The masses would be celebrated for the benefit of the souls of the testators, their parents and all those who had done good deeds and belonged to their lineage. A clergyman of the family was to be chosen as chaplain. The couple appointed their son, Estêvão Salvador, as administrator, followed by the closest and most honourable relative. Women and clerics were excluded from the administration.

Entail foundation deed by which D. Pedro de Almeida, do Conselho do Rei, and his wife, D. Maria Coutinho, establish an entail with their third parts. They designate their firstborn son, D. Lopo de Almeida, as first administrator, and his male descendants afterwards. If their lineage is extinguished, the king shall chose a new noble family to inherit the entail.

Entail foundation deed by which António de Melo and his wife Inês Leitão established an entail, appointing their son Nuno de Melo be its first administrator. He has due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Bucelas and in the Ermida of São Nicolau, located in their farm in Bucelas. This entail is composed of a farm in Bucelas, with its houses, orchards, olive groves, vineyards and lands. The institutors also confirmed the fulfilment of Manuel Freire's chapel obligations and appointed their son to be its successor after their death.

Chapel foundation deed by Pedro Rodrigues. The administrator should be his godson and nephew Pedro Rodrigues, who was currently a student. The administration should be a privilege of the institutor's relatives who wanted to be ordained as priests, and the role could only be exercised by a layman in the absence of clerics.

Chapel foundation deed of the chapel of Santo Espírito, in the monastery of São Domingos of Évora, founded by Gonçalo Boto. He entailed assets to ensure the celebration of the previously contracted charges. He appointed Pedro Boto to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest male son.

Addition deed of Bartolomeu da Fonseca revoking his entail foundation deed and founding again an entail. The testator appoints a Santa Casa da Misericórdia as vice-administrator and his brother's, Diogo da Fonseca, descendants as first administrators. He also defines the entail administration clauses.
