Court sentence (transcription)

Court sentence judging the motions of Maria Simões and Helena da Cruz, plaintiffs, as unproven and the common will of Padre Salvador Luís and Beatriz Fernandes, his sister, in which they founded two chapels, one of them in the lawsuit center, as valid. It reservs to the defendants, Santa Casa da Misericórdia and Confraria das Almas of Terena, the right to refute their will against the plaintiffs. The sentence refers that the plaintiffs argued that the will is not valid and they are the heirs and legitimate owners of the free assets of their siblings and that the defendants argued that the will is valid and that they are the legitimate administrators of the chapel, as appointed in the mentioned will. However, the defendants only succeed in the chapel's administration after the death of the plaintiffs.

Simões, Maria (flor.1683)

Court sentence (transcription)

Court sentence judging Belchior de Azevedo, opponent, as the rightful successor of the chapel of Padre Miguel de Mendonça and its assets, because he is cousin and the closest relative of Manuel de Mendonça, last administrator, according to the succession clauses of the institutor's codicil, which changed his will. It excludes Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Coina, plaintiff, and Maria das Neves de Mendonça, defendant, from the succession and condemns the defendant to relinquish to the opponent the chapel's assets, with their income generated since the contested lawsuit.

Azevedo, Belchior de (flor.1681)
