Will made by Manuel Martins Rol, in which he bequeathed 70.000 réis, a vineyard and a land to his brother Francisco Rol de Velez and ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every year. He named Francisco as first administrator of the entail and, after his death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest heir, or, if he had none, the administration would be transmitted to his brother António Rol de Velez or his sister Margarida de Velez. The administrators were expressly forbiden to marry with new-christians and illegitimate children could never receive the administration. The institutor also ordered that half of a vineyard should be annexed to the reserved portion bequeathed by Joana Dias, nicknamed a Cereja, as long as it remained on the Reis family.

Entail foundation deed by D. João de Sousa de Castro and D. Catarina de Nóvoa Henriques, in Melgaço, with all their properties, both inherited from his late parents, Lopo de Castro and Francisca de Cavedo, and bought by them, annexing this new entail to his parents' entail, founded in 1601. They also order the building of a chapel in Melgaço, united to the town's mother church, with some pious obligations. One of the masses will be celebrated in the chapel of the entail of Fecho, in Roussas, in the outskirts of Melgaço, founded by Lopo de Castro and Francisca de Cavedo.

Will made in Portalegre by padre Domingos Pires in which he ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of twenty-four masses celebrated every year on the chapel of Espírito Santo, where his body should be buried. He named his nephew Domingos as first administrator of the entail during his lifetime with the condition that he would only receive the administration after his emancipation, whether he marries or becomes a cleric, and until then the usufructs of the entail would be administrated by Joana Dias, mother of Domingos. After the death of Domingos the institutor named, in this order, his niece Joana, his nephew Manuel, Joana Dias and Maria Dias to succeed Domingos on the administration of the entail, with the same conditions, and after all of them passed away, the last one alive would appoint the next administrator. From there on the administrator would be selected by appointment and the pious obligation would be increased to one daily mass. No administrator could ever marry with a person of the so-called "infected races".

Will made by Margarida Aires de Almeida in which she ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of fourty masses uninterruptedly celebrated every year on the chapel of N. Sra. dos Remédios, where her body should be buried, just as her husband's body. The institutor named her nephew Manuel Álvares de Almeida as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir. All the eldest sons of the administrators should be baptized with the name Fernando Aires de Almeida, or, if a second born son succeeded on the administration and did not called himself Fernando, should change his name to Fernando by the time he made chrism, if a female heir succeeded on the administration she would at least bear the surname Aires de Almeida.

Nuncupative codicil made in Castelo de Vide by Violante Gonçalves, in which she ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual obligation of three masses celebrated every year. The institutor named her son Francisco Fernandes and his sister Joana Veles as first administrators during their lifetimes and, after their deaths, they would be succeeded by Isabel Veles, granddaughter of the institutor, and from there on the succession should continue on her descendants. No illegitimate heir could ever administrate the entail and anyone who married with another person of the so-called "infected races" would be deprived from the administration.

Declaration deed by Rodrigo Pereira de Castro, written in Castilian, annexing some of his own properties to the entail founded by Álvaro Afonso and Grimaneza Pereira and appointing his son, D. Gonçalo Pereira de Araújo and his descendents as the entail successors. The testator also declares some clauses and conditions regarding the entail's succession and administration.

Entail foundation deed by Afonso Domingues and Maria Domingues in Montemor-o-Novo, with a chapel in the church of Santa Maria do Açougue of the same town, donating all their assets in Montemor-o-Novo, Évora, Redondo, Alcácer, Arraiolos, Coruche, Lavre and other places to João Domingues, brother of Maria Domingues, who will administrate them as an entail, with the consent of João Afonso and Pedro Afonso, sons of Afonso Domingues. This entail will always be administrated by the lineage of Maria Domingues and João Domingues, her brother. This deed mentions another entail in Estremadura to the heirs of the lineage of Afonso Domingues.

Will of Luís Machado Freire, prior of Pêro Viseu, in the outskirts of Covilhã, founding two chapels and entails, with masses in the church of Pêro Viseu, one for Maria Machada and the other for D. Isabel Machada da Cunha, both his sisters with the condition of Frei Diogo Machado, his nephew, son of D. Isabel Machada da Cunha, to marry to Maria Machada, his niece, daughter of Maria Machada. If this marriage happens, both chapels and entails should be united.

Chapel foundation deed of Alexandre Barroso Pereira, fidalgo da Casa do rei e moço do Guarda-roupa do rei, and Catarina Palau de Cardenes, his wife, by which they entailed all their assets, with the pious obligation of 40 annual masses in the hermitage of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso, located in S. Romão, in the outskirts of Alverca. Among the properties which they incorporated in the entail were houses in Lisboa and a farmstead (quinta) in the outskirts of Alverca do Ribatejo. The first administrator of the entail should be the surviving spouse, after whose death would succeed Luís Pereira Barroso, son of Alexandre Barroso Pereira's first marriage.

Will by which Catarina Velha de Almeida, João Monteiro's widow, founded an entail with the third of her assets, instituting the pious obligation of 5 masses (1 of which chanted) to be celebrated in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She appointed her grandson, João Monteiro, as the entail's first administrator. If her grandson died childless, he should be succeeded by D. Maria Valente, her granddaughter. She chose to be buried in the church of the said convent, in the same grave where already lied her husband. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1606-03-30.

Will chart made by Maria de Sequeira, in which she ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in Castelo de Vide, if none of his children had descendants. The institutor named her closest relative, on the part of António Gonçalves and Ana Gomes, her grandparents, as first administrator. If any of the familiars were clerics, they would have precedence over the rest, even if they were younger.

Exemplification of a will (extract) of D. Cristóvão de Moura and his wife D. Margarida Côrte-Real, marqueses de Castelo Rodrigo, founding an entail.

Will chart by which Cristóvão Lopes founded an entail, incorporating his farmstead (quinta) of Belmonte, in the outskirts of Lisboa, and his houses in Lisboa, with the pious obligation of celebrating 20 annual masses (10 for each property), in the chapels of Jesus and Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the Convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. Joana de Sousa, his wife, was asked to administer the entail until Francisco de Sousa, Cristóvão's grandson, turned 25 years old and was allowed to take control of it. If Francisco died before that age, or without offspring, the entail should pass to Isabel de Sousa, Joana's daughter and Cristóvão's stepdaughter. He also bequeaths to his grandson a farmstead (quinta) located in Vale do Alcaide, which the testator had bought with the obligation of supporting the celebration of 12 annual masses in the church of S. Cristóvão, in Lisboa. The testator mentions that, at the time of death of D. João III, he was painting the altarpieces of the monastery of Alcobaça and of Évora's cathedral. João de Saldanha was present and accepted this foundation.

Will chart made by Catarina Mouzinho in which she ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every year in Castelo de Vide. She appointed Maria and Isabel as first administrators during their lifetime and, after their death, Manuel and Gaspar; on their death, their children should succeed them.

Will chart through which Henrique Leme establishes a chapel in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa, appointing Ana Leme, his sister, to be its first administrator. He orders his sister to buy properties to incorporate in that entail, using the profit of the sale of his patrimony, after the fulfilment of the legacies he left to various persons. He chooses to be buried in the altar of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the church of that convent.

Codicil made by Catarina Martins in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in Monforte. She appointed Catarina de Sequeira to be the first administrator during her lifetime, with the obligation to profess or marry according to the will of the parents. Until the marriage, the administration of the chapel would fall to her brother.

Will by which Doutor João de Barros and D. Joana do Couto de Vasconcelos, his wife, establish an entail with the third part of their assets, including the farmstead (quinta) of Calvos, in Loures, the farmstead (quinta) of Poço, in Gestaçô, Trás-os-Montes, and lands in Lagoalva. They appoint their eldest son, Martinho de Barros de Vasconcelos, to be its first administrator, obligating him and his successors to celebrate annual masses for their souls in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. They choose to be buried in that church.

Will chart made by Filipa Cabreira Mexia in which she ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of three masses celebrated every year in the chapel of Reis, in Portalegre. She attaches the chapel established by Manuel da Fonseca, in Quinta do Reguengo, so that it would be united to this new entail. She appointed Nuno da Fonseca Coutinho to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by Manuel da Fonseca. After his death, he shall be succeeded by his brothers, from oldest to youngest, preferring males to females.

Will chart made by Diogo Caldeira de Tavares and his wife Maria de Sousa in which they leave the entail instituted by Jorge Caldeira de Tavares to Pedro de Sousa Caldeira. They entail several other assets, adding a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated in the convent of São Francisco of Portalegre. They also attach to it properties of the entail established by António Pimenta. After the death of Pedro de Sousa Caldeira, he shall be succeeded by his eldest male son.

Will chart made by Diogo Caldeira de Tavares revoking his previous will chart, that was made in common with Maria de Sousa. He leaves the entail instituted by Jorge Caldeira de Tavares to Pedro de Sousa Caldeira.
He orders the foundation of another entail with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year. He appointed his second great-grandson to be the first administrator during his lifetime. If his grandson Pedro de Sousa does not have children, a shelter for thirteen women should be set up in his house, opposite the Colégio of the Companhia de Jesus.

Will by which Luís Gonçalves de Figueiroa bequeaths houses and vineyards in Lisboa to his sister, D. Filipa de Mesquita, with the obligation of celebrating 50 annual masses for his soul in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. If she decides to marry, she should obtain previously the consent of their uncle, Simão Gonçalves de Figueiroa. But if she becomes a nun, Simão shall inherit all the testator's assets. The institutor declares that his body should be interred in that church, inside the grave where his grandparents are buried.

Will by which D. Luísa de Barros, Jorge da Silva's wife, establishes an entail with a public debt instrument of 1 conto de réis and a part of her assets, instituting the obligation of supporting the ransom of christian captives in Africa, the marriage of orphan girls and the celebration of masses in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She appoints Fernando da Silva, Regedor and her husband's nephew, to be its first administrator. The testator declares that her body should be interred in that church, inside the chapel of Jesus.

Will by which Brás Fragoso do Paço establishes in entail in his herdade de Casa Branca, in Beja, and appoints his wife, D. Joana de Pina, great-granddaughter of Rui de Pina and administrator of his chapel and entail, as the first administrator. She will annex only one part of the third part of her assets to the entail of her husband, because the other two thirds have already been annexed to the chapel of her great-grandfather, according to his will. It is mentioned that Rui de Pina's chapel shall be inherited by Sebastião da Gama Pina, their eldest son. Followed by an approval deed dated 1585-02-05.

Will (extract) by which Luís de Barbuda de Melo bequeaths all his assets to Francisco Vieira de Castro, his brother, ordering him to sell them and to buy properties with the purpose of establishing an entail. The testator asks Francisco and his successors to celebrate annual masses in the church of S. Domingos of Lisboa and to donate, each year, 100 000 réis for the dowry of two orphan girls and the same amount to support the ransom of two portuguese captives in Africa.

Will by which Miguel Leitão de Andrade, Cavaleiro da Ordem de Cristo, establishes an entail with two public debt instruments of 16 865 réis and 8 437 réis in Alfândega Grande de Lisboa, houses in that city, lands (casal) in Sobral de Monte Agraço, a farmstead (quinta) in the outskirts of Alenquer and lands in the outskirts of Óbidos, instituting the obligation of celebrating 30 annual masses in the Church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa and in the church of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Luz of Pedrógão Grande. He appoints his nephew, Doutor Francisco de Andrade Leitão, Desembargador dos Agravos, and D. Ana Leitão, his wife, to be its first administrators. The testator demands that his body should be buried inside the cloister of the convent of S. Domingos.

Donation deed through which D. Pedro de Castilho, Bispo de Leiria, donates lands (casais) in Golegã to his nephew, Diogo de Castilho, with the obligation of celebrating masses for the souls of Pedro's parents in the altar of S. João Baptista of the Mosteiro de Santa Cruz of Coimbra. Diogo de Castilho gives his consent to this donation.

Will of Diogo Fernandes ordering, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail and chapel with two weekly masses celebrated in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo's in Salvador, captaincy of Baía. He named his niece Maria de Gouveia as first administrator of the entail and disposed that after her death the succession should always continue by appointment of a daughter, in ways that the male heirs could only succeed on the absence of female heirs. If the bloodline became in anyway extinguished the administration would be transmitted to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia of Baía.

Will (extract) by which D. Ana da Fonseca establishes an entail with her houses, revenue from the casal de Golão and an interest in the Casa dos Escravos, which she has given through a dowry deed to her niece, D. Catarina da Fonseca, and her husband, João Ferreira Bettencourt. She also bequeaths the usufruct of her properties in the island of S. Tomé and in India to her brother Gabriel da Fonseca, vicar of S. João of Raiva, during his lifetime. After Gabriel da Fonseca's death, the properties left to him and to her niece shall be united and given to Ana da Fonseca's great-niece, D. Guiomar, D. Catarina da Fonseca's daughter, and to her succession thereafter, with the obligation of 16 masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Entail foundation deed made by Clara Vicente, wife of João Dias Louseiro, ordering a chapel in the convent of São Francisco in Évora, with a chaplain. She appoints her daughter Maria Eanes Louseira for its administration, and after her Pedro Esteves and his sons.
If there is no suitable successor, the chapel will be deliverd to the bispo and vigários of Évora that will be responsible for the appointment of the new administrator.

Will by which Gaspar Gil Severim expresses his wish to be buried in the chapterhouse of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa and establishes two entails, which he bequeaths to his two sons, Francisco de Faria Severim, and Manuel de Faria Severim.
He gives to his son Francisco, among other properties, the farm and houses in Lisboa which he had received through a dowry deed from Catarina Mateus Galvão, aunt of his first wife, Antónia de Faria, and which were entailed to an obligation of masses, which should pass to his eldest son.
If the lineage of any of his sons is extinguished, their respective entail shall be inherited by the other or by their successors.

Entail foundation deed by which Afonso de Barreira and his wife, Isabel de Marchena, entail the revenue of some houses in Lisboa and in Santarém, and foros in Loulé and Lisboa, with the obligation of two weekly masses for their souls and one mass in the day of Santo Ildefonso, patron-saint of Afonso de Barreira, in the chapel of Santo Ildefonso of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where they shall be buried. At the first one's death, the remaining institutor shall have the administration of the entail and, afterwards, it will be bequeathed to their eldest son, João de Barreira, and to his successors.

Will by which Gaspar Gil Severim expresses his wish to be buried in the chapterhouse of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa and establishes two entails.
He establishes an entail with the third part of the properties of his first wife, Antónia de Faria, and a part of his own third, and appoints his only remaining son from this first marriage, Francisco de Faria Severim, as its heir and administrator. He also establishes an obligation of a daily mass in the ermida de Nossa Senhora da Humildade which he built in his quinta de Subserra, which shall be the head of this entail.
He establishes another entail with the remaining part of his third part, and the third part of his second wife, Juliana de Faria, also deceased, and bequeaths it to his eldest son from this second marriage, Manuel de Faria Severim. He establishes an obligation of an annual mass in the ermida de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, which belongs to another farmstead he started to build near his quinta de Subserra, and which is part of this entail.

Codicil (extract) by which Rodrigo Fernandes de Évora, Jorge Fernandes de Évora's brother, establishes a chapel in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa, incorporating in it his houses in Évora, lands in Fonte Santa and A-dos-cãos, in Loures, and lands (casal) in Sapataria. He appoints his nephew, João Pinto, to be the entail's first administrator, ordering him to support the celebration of annual masses in the church of that convent. He allows the future administrators to lease or sell his assets in Évora, as long as they use the sale's profit to incorporate lands located in the outskirts of Lisboa in the entail.

Will by which D. Catarina de Brito, widow of doutor Rui Gago, revokes her part of the will chart she had previously made with her husband, in 1560-07-29. She expresses her wish to be buried in the chapel of Santíssimo Sacramento of the cathedral of Lisboa, in her husband's grave, with the obligation of a daily mass for her and her husband's soul, half to be paid with her properties, and half to be paid with the properties of her husband's entail. She entails her assets in Lisboa, Évora, Alcáçovas and Elvas, which she detaches from her husband's entail, and appoints D. Catarina, their niece, daughter of Estêvão Gago and D. Guiomar de Brito, as her heir. She also entails her jewelry, which D. Catarina shall use for her wedding, as well as her successors. If D. Catarina dies without children, the entail shall be inherited by Rui de Brito, son of her nephew, Fernando Lobo de Brito. She also establishes two other entails, with "foros" in Elvas, which she bequeaths to her nephews: Fernando Lobo de Brito and Afonso de Brito.

Will by which Brás Fragoso do Paço establishes an entail with the third part of his assets, to be taken from the herdade de Casa Branca, in Beja, with the obligation of 14 masses for his and his wife's soul, in the church of S. Francisco of Lisboa. He appoints his wife, D. Joana de Pina, great-granddaughter of Rui de Pina, as first administrator, with the obligation that, upon her death, she will annex the third part of her assets to the entail. After her death, the entail shall be bequeathed to their son, Pedro Fragoso, which, at the time of his death, must annex to the entail his legitime and two thirds of the third part of his assets, and to his successors thereafter. If, by the time of D. Joana de Pina's death, Pedro Fragoso has already died without descendance, the entail shall be bequeathed to one of Brás Fragoso do Paço's daughters, Inês or Maria, and only if all of them have died without descendants will it be inherited by his eldest son, Sebastião da Gama Pina. It is mentioned that D. Joana de Pina is administrator of the entail established in Guarda by her great-grandfather, Rui de Pina, and that this entail shall be inherited by Sebastião da Gama Pina, their eldest son.
