Will (extract) by which Guiomar Cabea, widow of Simão Correia Lomelino, expresses her wish to be buried in the chapel she established with her husband in the main church of Oeiras. She designates her niece, D. Maria, daughter of Jorge Carreiro de Almada and of D. Luísa da Gama, Guiomar's sister, as her heir, executor and administrator of her chapel and entail. She bequeaths her the third part of her husband and her own third part, entailing them to their chapel, with an obligation of 100 masses for their souls. The entail shall pass to D. Maria's descendants, with a preference for daughters. If she dies without successors, it shall pass to one of her siblings in this order: D. Helena, D. Jerónima, D. Francisco de Almada or D. António Carreiro.

Will (extract) by which Mariana Cabral leaves a property which someone would give her to settle a debt and a rent (foro) in Cachoeiras to her niece, Úrsula de Abreu, to help her marriage. Those assets could not be sold and should be transmitted to the eldest daughter of her niece with the obligation of celebrating annual masses for the testator's soul in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. If the future entail's administrators do not fulfil its pious obligations, all the assets should be delivered to the Misericórdia. The testator also bequeaths olive groves in Montemor to Inês Carvalhosa, allowing her to do whatever she wants with them.

Will (extract) by which Graça Torres leaves to her niece, Luísa Nunes, two lands in Alpampilher, in the outskirts of Azambuja, with the obligation of a set of annual masses on specific altars and other pious charges for her soul at the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa. She adds to this chapel the masses that her husband, António Ortiz, had ordered. After Luísa Nunes death, she appoints her other niece, Feliciana Pereira, to succeed in the administration of those lands with the same obligations, declaring that they should remain in the possession of a close relative and that females should precede males. If her generation becomes extinct, the lands should be handed to the priests of the convent to ensure the pious charges.

The administrator was due to buy a "foro" of 2.000 réis in order to give them to the priests of the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora for the celebration of twelve masses each year. Her husband should have the usufruct of the institutor's third during the minority of D. Inês.

Julião of Lisboa, to which they entail rents (foros) appraised at 30 000 réis in lands located on the outskirts of Lisboa. Its revenues would sustain a chaplain, who would be responsible for celebrating a daily perpetual mass for their souls. After the death of the surviving member of the couple, the chapel shall be administrated by Lourenço Gomes, sombreireiro, and subsequently passed to his youngest daughter, Isabel Pinto.

The entail's future administrators were obligated to support the celebration of 25 annual masses for the testator's soul in the church of S. Miguel of Alfama, where his body would be buried.

She bequeathed her available portion to her offspring, Inês Pais and Pedro Chamorro, and her granddaughter, Isabel Álvares, daughter of Paio Rodrigues, her son, with the pious obligation of 14 perpetual prayed masses, per year. Inês Pais is responsible for dividing the income of this available portion for the three of them. The testator determines that this available portion will always be transmitted to female successors to help them with their sustenance.

They designated Catarina Fernandes to be its first administrator and, after her death, her daughters or a son who wanted to be a cleric.
It contains the note that it was opened on 1582-02-19, on the death of Violante Fernandes.

After the death the first of them, the chapel administration would go to the other, and after the death of the latter, it should pass to her eldest daughter, the female having preference over the males.

Will chart of Francisco Gonçalves Vila Chã and Maria Gonçalves, his wife. They declare they had signed a contract, in 1604-03-26, with the provedor of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Azurara, reserving the income from several properties for the construction of the chancel of that church and hospital expenses. They now entail those properties as a chapel and appoint Maria Tomé, as the first administrator. A daughter was to succeed her, with females taking precedence in administration.
They institute another entail with properties located in the outskirts of Prado which shall be used to purchase olive oil and wax for the Santíssimo Sacramento of the convent of São Francisco of Azurara. They appoint Maria Carneiro as the first administrator, to be succeeded by her daughter, Ana.
They also institute a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora, on the altar of Piedade in the Convent of São Francisco de Azurara, and appoint Justa as the first administrator, to be succeded by one of her children.

Will chart made by Maria Soares Baeta, in which she ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail with a perpetual mass obligation of five masses celebrated every year on the convent of S. Francisco of Alter do Chão, where her body should be buried. She named both her nieces Maria Soares and Catarina de Jesus to administrate the entail during their lifes, and after the death of the first one, the administration would be go to the other. After their deaths, the administration should be assumed by to the eldest female daughter of the last one of two firstly appointed administrators, and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest female daughter. If none of them had children, the administration would be transmitted to Domingas Gonçalves who would administrate it during her lifetime and appoint a successor before her death. All administrators were obliged to entail their own reserved portions to the entail. Only the Visitador do Bispo could take accounts on the administration.

After the death of Heitor, the entail should always be administrated by the eldest female daughter, preferred over the male heir. If Heitor died without descedants, the administration should be transmitted to his brother Jorão Homem.

Just like the first entail, all administrators of this second entail should bare the surname "Tarouca", keep a record book for the registration of the masses that should be checked by the Misericórdia of Castelo de Vide, in every year, and they would be also obliged to annex one property worth 30.000 réis to the entail.

Bartolomeu of Vila Flor and founded an entail composed of farmlands and houses in Vila Flor, with a perpetual obligation of 16 annual masses. She named her niece Luzia de Moura as first administrator during her lifetime and after her death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest female heir. If Luzia had no children, then the administration would be handed to her sister, Beatriz de Moura, niece of the institutor, with the same conditions, or the closest female relative if she had no children of her own. The administrator would be obliged to register the chapel's inventory on the chapel's book of the Provedoria within six months.

Miguel island, with the perpetual obligation of a chapel of masses celebrated every year and to administrate it, she named her son Gaspar de Chaves during his lifetime and after his death, the administration should be given to her daughter Bárbara de Chaves, and after her death to her daughter Leonor de Chaves, and finally to her son Luís de Chaves. After they were all dead, the administration should be given to the eldest male son of each of them, one after the death of the other, and the sons of the eldest grandson should inherit the entail's administration with the same conditions. The second entail would be composed of some houses in Ponta Delgada, where she lived, with the perpetual mass obligation of five masses celebrated every year and to administrate it she appointed her daughter Bárbara Chaves and after her death Ana Martins, daughter of Leonor Chaves and Francisco Afonso, and after her death the administration should be given from there on, preferably, to the eldest female heir. If Ana had no children of hers, the administration should be given to Francisco, son of Leonor Chaves, with the same conditions.

Will of Diogo Fernandes ordering, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail and chapel with two weekly masses celebrated in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo's in Salvador, captaincy of Baía. He named his niece Maria de Gouveia as first administrator of the entail and disposed that after her death the succession should always continue by appointment of a daughter, in ways that the male heirs could only succeed on the absence of female heirs. If the bloodline became in anyway extinguished the administration would be transmitted to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia of Baía.

He appoints Catarina Borges as its first administrator and, after her death, their sister, Mécia Lourenço, and, after her, one of her daughters, specifically the one who fail in the chapel of Margarida Borges. The testator also bequeaths two swamps (lameiros) to Domingos Lopes Ferreira and his wife, Inácia Francisca, with the pious obligation of two annual masses for his soul, also celebrated in his chapel of S. Lourenço, founding another entail, in which should succeed their legitimate offspring. If Domingos Lopes dies without offspring in common with Inácia Francisca or if one of the successors alienates the swamps, these properties will be annexed to the chapel founded to Catarina Borges.

Will of Branca de Jesus, beata da ordem terceira de S. Francisco, by which she expresses her wish to be buried in the main church of Amieira do Tejo. She institutes two entails. The first in favour of her great-niece Beatriz, daughter of her niece Maria Gonçalves, composed of her houses and farmlands in Amieira, with the obligation of 10 annual masses. The administrator had the power to appoint his successor, and female children would be preferred to male. The second entail was in favour of her niece Maria Gonçalves, it was composed of her farmlands and had the obligation of six annual masses. After her death, the properties should be transmitted to the closest relative.

Will made by Joana Lopes, in which she ordered the foundation of an entail, composed of some houses in Portalegre, over which she imposed a perpetual obligation of four masses celebrated every year. She named her husband Manuel Rodrigues as first administrator during his lifetime, and, after his death, he would be succeeded by their daughter Catarina da Conceição or to their granddaughter Ana Maria, and from there on the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest female daughter. If none of them had children, the administration would be handled to the descendants of João Fernandes Salgado. If the lineage of the institutor or administrators was extinguished, the administration would be handled to the Irmandade da Ordem Terceira de S. Francisco.

Will made in Portalegre by Joana Rodrigues Velez in which she ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail and chapel with a perpetual mass obligation of three masses celebrated every year in any privileged altar of Portalegre. To administrate it she named her niece Maria Velez as first administrator during her lifetime, and, after her death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest female daughter. If Maria had no heirs, the administration would be handled to padre Pedro Ribeiro, nephew of the institutor, and Maria Ribeira after his death, with the same conditions mentioned. If Maria Ribeira had no heirs, the administration would be transmitted to padre Francisco Velez, and, after his death, to the eldest daughter of João Velez and the closest relative of his bloodline after him.

The first entail should have a perpetual obligation of one mass celebrated every year, in the day of N. Sra da Assunção, on her mother's grave in the monastery of S. Francisco, where her body should be buried. To administrate this entail she ordered the executor of her will to appoint a female relative that should also appoint a female successor after her death, so that the entail was always administrated by woman. The second entail had a perpetual obligation of one mass celebrated every week and she appointed her son Francisco Correia to administrate it during his life, and after his death the succession should continue on the eldest male heir, preferably.

Will made by Inês Mendes in which she bequeathed some houses and a land to padre Agostinho Fernandes da Cabaça with the condition that he would provide a dowry to her niece Catarina de Almeida for her entrance on a religious order, but would only have those assets during his lifetime, because, after his death, the institutor ordered the foundation of an entail, naming the same Catarina de Almeida as first administrator during her lifetime and, after her death, she would be succeeded by one of her nieces, daughters of Manuel Álvares Cobelos and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the descendants of this dauhghter, preferring the female over the male heir.

He named his father as first administrator of the entail during his lifetime, but with no obligation of ordering the celebration of the masses. After his death, the entail should be administrated by his sister Ana who could appoint one or her daughters to succeed her or give the entail as part of a dowry to one of her daughters, if any of them wished to get married. From there on the succession should always continue in any female daughter, always appointed by the last female administrator, and, in the absence of female heirs, the male could administrate the entail, but only until a new female was born. If Ana had no children, the entail's administration should be given to one of the daughters of André Fernandes.

She designated her great-niece, D. Teresa, to administrate it, obligating her and her descendants to support the celebration of an annual mass in honour of Nossa Senhora do Rosário. The entail would be transmitted to the first administrator's eldest daughter or, if D. Teresa left no offspring, to Ascenso de Sequeira, her father. The institutor's great-niece would also become the patron of the chapel of Santíssimo Sacramento of the cathedral of Elvas, which D. Maria do Quintal had bought and turned into a family mausoleum. Entail foundation deed by which Inês Pires Francês founded the chapel of Santo Ângelo, in Arraiolos, incorporating several assets. After the institutor's death, it should succeed his cousin André Lopes Franco and, after his death, Mariana Francês. The administrator could choose the successor but, if he did not want to, it should take precedence the female ones.

Dowry deed by which Maria de Miranda, Sebastião de Ataíde Coutinho's wife, established an entail with all her assets, appointing her niece, Úrsula de Miranda, who was going to marry Diogo de Ataíde Coutinho, to administrate it and determining that its future administrators had to support the celebration of 18 annual masses for her soul. It had to be passed to the eldest daughter of the couple.
Sebastião de Ataíde Coutinho donated all his assets to his son, Diogo de Ataíde Coutinho, thus establishing another entail and obligating its future administrators to celebrate 18 annual masses for his soul. The entail had to be transmitted to the youngest son of the couple. Sebastião de Ataíde Coutinho also appointed his son to administrate the entail established by Inês de Ataíde and Pedro do Couto, the "Morgado dos Negros e Coroados".

Donation deed by which Francisco da Veiga, widower, bequeathed houses in the parish of S. Paulo of Lisboa to his sister-in-law, Maria Carvalho, Fernando Álvares' widow, obligating her and her heirs to support the celebration of 12 annual masses for his soul in the main chapel of the church of Misericórdia of Lisboa. After Maria Carvalho's death, the entail would be inherited by one of her daughters.

Codicil by which Beatriz Viana added some changes to a will she previously made. She left the third of her assets to her son Mateus André. She founded a chapel, incorporating a house located in Rua Direita de São Miguel, in Lisboa, in order to fulfill the pious obligations in the church of Santo Estêvão de Alfama, where she wanted to be buried. The administrator should be appointed among his children and grandchildren by the previous one, with preference for choosing a women.

He determines that his wife, Maria de Sins, will appoint, at the time of her death, her successor among their single daughters. He also changes the clause regarding the succession of his aunt's, Isabel Castanha, available portion, deciding that his wife can appoint whoever she wants to succeed her.

After the death of one of the institutors, the surviving one should administer the entail during his/her lifetime and transmit it to António Lagarto Ferreira, Cristóvão Lagarto and Luísa de Almeida's son. His eldest daughter should inherit the entail. This chapel shall also incorporate masses for the soul of Catarina Esteves, first wife of Vicente Rodrigues Castelão, according to her will.
