Annexation deed by Maria de Moura, widow, entailing all her assets to a chapel previously institued, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Natividade and to the souls of the Purgatory, in the church of S. João de Luzim. Maria appointed her nephew, Manuel de Sousa Camps, as the first administrator. The successors should primarly be the first-born sons, excluding clerics and those who commited lese-majeste crimes.

Annexation deed and appointment of an administrator for the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, in Arneirós, instituted by Gonçalo Coelho, Manuel Rodrigues Ramos, Catarina Álvares and António Coelho, administered by Manuel Luís Paiva and Antónia Álvares de Vide, his wife. Since they had neglected to administer some of the entailed assets, they entail several others to compensate for the fall in income. To fulfill the institution, they also entail a third of their assets, in a sum of more than 5 000 cruzados, and appoint Doutor Diogo Monteiro Coelho, their son, administrator. The latter, in turn, accepts the appointment and undertakes to fulfill the institution.

Annexation deed by which Gonçalo Coelho, attaches several assets to the entail of which he was administrator. Manuel Luís Paiva and Antónia Alves, his wife, appointed successors to the administration, also entail, for their part, some assets to the entail, committing themselves to the fulfillment of the institution.

Approval and addition deed by which Estêvão da Guarda, with the grant of Sancha Dinis, his wife, entails Quinta da Sisana, located on the outskirts of Lisbon, an oven and other assets, some of which donated by D. Afonso Sanches, bastard son of D. Dinis, to fulfil the charges of the chapel that they had established in the monastery of São Vicente de Fora. The charges that should be celebrated are determined, as well as the succession in the administration. The administrator should be the eldest son and in case of extinction of the lineage, the city council of Lisbon.

Approval and addition deed to the institution and donation of the entail to Manuel Côrte-Real and D. Beatriz de Mendonça, his wife. Vasco Eanes Côrte-Real, after the death of Cristóvão Côrte-Real, his firstborn son, confirms and adds the entail instituted by D. Joana da Silva, his wife. Attaches its part in the inheritance of D. Joana (houses located in the Cataquefarás neighborhood, in Lisboa), and other real estate, and clarifies the principles of succession in the entail. Manuel Côrte-Real and D. Beatriz de Mendonça compromise also to attach their parts of the inheritance.

Approval and addition deed of the will made by Catarina Luís, first administrator of the entail founded by her deceased husband Francisco Lopes Moniz, confirming the foundation of the entail, but changing some of dispositions over the entail's succession rules. She authorized her daughter Margarida Moniz to appoint one of her nephews on the administration of the entail founded by her deceased husband, Francisco Lopes Moniz, and if she died without descendants, the administration should be given to her brother Francisco Lopes Moniz and his sons or nephews after him. If all of them died without writing a will, she appointed her grandsons Manuel or João or António, in this order. After all of them were dead, the administration should be given to the eldest male heir. As to the chapel she founded with her reserved portion, with five perpetual masses celebrated in every year, she appointed her son Rafael Moniz to administrate it during his lifetime and the closest relative after him.

Codicil made by Catarina Mouzinho, in which she ordered some changes on the dispositions of her will regarding the four entails she founded, thereby ordering that the succession of all entails should not be through appointment but, rather, the male heir of each administrator should be preferred on the succession of the entail.

Chapel foundation deed by which Jorge Pereira and his sister Maria Antunes established an entail, with the obligation to celebrate masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora de Ventosa or in the hermitage of that parish. They appointed their niece Isabel Pereira as the first administrator, and her heirs should succeed in this entail. Maria Antunes, however, should administer it during her life and is obligated to incorporate several properties into the entail. The institutor also refers that his mother Paula Antunes had some "pardieiros" that were sold and that he bought again in order to turn them into houses. He wanted to use its rents for the celebration of five masses for his parents-in-law Jerónimo de Morais and Paula de Medeiros' soul.

Chapel foundation deed by Genoveva Pereira da Cunha, António Ribeiro Pereira, Vicente Pereira de Castro and D. Leonor Soutomaior. Fulfilling the will of Doutor Nicolau Pereira de Castro, son of Genoveva Pereira da Cunha, she established a chapel with a third of his assets and of his son, to fulfill the charges, celebrated in the church of Nossa Senhora da Salvação in Arruda dos Vinhos. It also encloses the assets left by priest Manuel Pereira, her son, before his profession. According to the same will, he appoints Vicente Pereira de Castro, first administrator. The succession was to be that set forth in the Kingdom Ordinances. Priest António Ribeiro Pereira would also entail, on his death, his property to the aforementioned chapel. Vicente Pereira de Castro and D. Leonor Soutomaior, his wife, also attach a third of their property, namely the Nossa Senhora da Luz' farm, in Vinha, on the outskirts of Arruda dos Vinhos, to the chapel.

Chapel foundation deed by which Diogo Saraiva and his wife Isabel Mendes incorporated several properties and rents of cereal, wine, chestnuts and olive oil, in order to fulfill the chapel's obligations. They wanted to build, at their own expense, the chancel of the hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Penelas, on the outskirts of Lamego. The administrators would be obligated to maintain the hermitage and to ensure the cult. They designated their son, Doutor Domingos Saraiva, to be its first administrator and to be responsible for choosing between one of his brothers, or between one of his nephews, the sucessor of this entail.

Chapel foundation deed by António de São Dionísio, bishop of the island of Santiago, in Cape Verde. The bishop declares that he has built a chapel under the invocation of Nossa Senhora da Piedade in the farmstead of Santo André de Marecos, in the Bishopric of Porto, leaving a retable with the image of the Virgin to be placed in the said chapel, where perpetual daily Masses would be celebrated for the soul of the founder. António de São Dionísio leaves 4.000 cruzados to be used to buy estates or interest rates to be entailed to the chapel. The first administrator would be his nephew, Manuel de Sousa Loureiro, to whom the institutor leaves the power to appoint one of his children as successor. After that, the succession would go primarily to the first-born sons. The successor should always be an Old Christian. The institutor also requestes that the bishops of Porto and the "provedores das capelas" to register the institution in their records and to surveil the fulfilment of his wishes.

Chapel foundation deed by Manuel Rodrigues, appointing two lines and 'genders' of administrators: one following the line of his mother, represented by his niece Benta Rodrigues, followed by her son Manuel; and the other should follow his father's line, represented by his brother Álvaro Rodrigues, followed by his daughter Maria. Both administrators should also support the pious obligations of the entail, notably a weekly mass celebrated every friday, along with 900 reis to the 'fábrica' of the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição.

Chapel foundation deed by which Francisco Cardoso de Tornes, inquisidor, do Conselho do Rei, establishes a chapel in the monastery of Santo Elói, Lisboa, with the obligation of a daily mass and an annual mass in the day of S. Francisco. He entails to this obligation his farm in Penha de França, Lisboa, which he bequeaths to his nephew, Manuel da Cunha Soares, and to his successors. The priests of the monastery promise to pray the masses according to this intitution.

Chapel foundation deed by which Manuel Garcia de Bívar established an entail, appointing his eldest son Duarte Garcia Bívar to be its first administrator. He has due to order the celebration of masses in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Lisboa. The successors are obligated to incorporate the third part of their third to this chapel. This entail is composed of a public debt instrument of 55 187 réis in Tábula Real da Vila de Setúbal and houses located in Lisboa.

Chapel foundation deed by which Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira, Jorge Leitão's widow, entailed 40 000 réis of interest to the chapel she had established in the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa of Lisboa and 16 000 réis of interest to the chapel her late husband founded in that convent, which she administrated. She appointed Padre António de Sequeira to be the chaplain of her chapel. The institutor designated Francisco de Morais de Távora to become the administrator of both chapels. He would be succeeded by his eldest son. If the administrator left no descendants, the chapels would be administrated by the chaplain of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa. Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira donated 196 570 réis of interest to her daughter, Soror Joana de Jesus. Contains copies of licences issued on 1655-10-02 and 1658-03-08.

Chapel foundation deed by which the priest Luís Ferreira established an entail, designating his third-degree niece Catarina dos Santos, daughter of João Tomé and Maria Esteves, to be its first administrator. She was due to order the celebration of masses wherever she wanted and she, and the future administrators, were obligated to incorporate their third into this entail. If she died without heirs, it should succeed her sister Mariana de Jesus and her heirs. This entail is composed of land, vineyards, olive groves, olive press and mill in the parish of São Pedro de Dois Portos, on the outskirts of Torres Vedras, and also two houses located in Lisboa. The successors could not sell the houses but they could subrogate it, and this provision was also confirmed in this document by João Tomé and Maria Esteves, the houses' possessors.

Chapel foundation deed by which Estêvão da Guarda and Sancha Domingues, his wife, establish a chapel in the monastery of São Vicente de Fora. They established the obligation to celebrate masses and to light a candle in this church, using the rents of a farm, a "forno" and houses that were donated by Afonso Sanches and D. Teresa. Sancha Domingues would be in charge to fulfill the obligation by the death of her husband, but if she remarried, the obligation would be transmitted to a first born legitimate son or daughter.

Chapel foundation deed by António de Almeida and Francisca das Neves, in Condeixa-a-Nova. They entailed assets to fulfill charges, celebrated at the altar of the chapel of the brotherhood of Nossa Senhora da Lapa and appoint António de Moura Coutinho, their nephew, as administrator of the chapel, to whom his eldest son should succeed. If the lineage was extinguished, the last administrator had to nominate the successor he considered suitable.

Chapel foundation deed in which Gonçalo Rodrigues Marques declares that he has bought the chapel of "Cabeça Santa", in the convent of S. Elói, in Porto, with the intention of establishing his own chapel. To achieve this, he changed the chapel's invocation to St. Gonçalo, the Saint he was named after, and ordered his remains buried there. The institutor entailed 110,000 reis of interest in the Almoxarifado of Porto. He appointed his son António Rodrigues Marques, almoxarife of the comarca of Porto, as the first administrator. The entail was to be inherited by the first-born male son.

Chapel foundation deed by Luís Álvares de Madureira, acting as the executor of Senhorinha Dias' testament, and fulfilling her will. Senhorinha had previously been named as the heir of her late husband, Rui Gomes de Azevedo. Senhorinha wished to establish a chapel in the convent of S. Domingos do Porto, where her husband was buried, and where perpetual masses would be celebrated for the benefit of the couple's souls. The first administrator would be a nephew of Senhorinha's late husband. Rui Gomes de Azevedo, who is not named in the document. Until he came of age, Bartolomeu Lopes, squire and "criado" to the Bishop of Porto, would administer the entail. After that, the succession would go to the first-born sons, excluding clerics.

Chapel foundation deed of the chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, in Aldeia de Cima, Armamar, by Domingos Cardoso da Fonseca, who wished to be buried there. He entails most of his movable and immovable property to fulfill charges, reserving only a few, worth 1 500 cruzados, for the fulfilment of his will. He declares he would appoint the first administrator in his will, but if he did not, the administration would pass to Manuel Cardoso Madeira, his legitimate son, and then to his eldest son.

Chapel foundation deed by which Belchior Correia and Violante Gonçalves, his wife, entail an orchard with the obligation of 12 000 reis of masses in the convent of of São Francisco of Lisboa and appoint Pedro Correia, their son, as its first administrator.

Chapel foundation deed by which Duarte Correia incorporates into the entail several assets, located in Ameixoeira and Alcainça, inherited from his father, for the fulfillment of charges. The pious obligations should be celebrated in the main altar of the church of Nossa Senhora da Ameixoeira. He designated his niece Maria Correia, daughter of his brother Martinho Correia, to be its first administrator and, after her death, her sons.

Chapel foundation deed by Henrique de Lemos, entailing all his properties to fulfill the charges, celebrated in the Cathedral of Viseu, where he wants to be buried. He appoints António de Lemos, his son, as first administrator. His eldest son should succeed him.

Chapel foundation deed by António Porto Carneiro, cavaleiro fidalgo, together with his wife Filipa Dias. The couple declares that they have no forced heirs and are therefore free to dispose of their property. They decided to found a chapel with the perpetual obligation to celebrate 100 mases for their souls every year. The first administrator would be António Pinto, cavaleiro fidalgo, nephew of António Porto Carneiro, whom they had raised since early childhood, marrying him to their niece Filipa Dias. Succession in the chapel was primarily through first-born sons, and clerics were excluded from this role. The administrators had to live in Braga. If If they had to leave the city in the service of the king, they had to return and ensure that all the masses were properly celebrated.

Chapel foundation deed by Manuel Ribeiro ordering the celebration of masses in the chapel he previously founded with his late wife, Maria Antunes, in Misericórdia of Viana do Castelo and annexing more assets, bought by him after his wife's death, to the first chapel they founded. He appoints as first administrators of his chapel his nephew and niece, licenciado Baltasar Barbosa de Araújo and Catarina Ribeiro Maciel, his wife. If they do not have offspring when Catarina Ribeiro dies, Baltasar Barbosa de Araújo will enjoy the chapel's income in his life and, after his death, this chapel will be annexed to the chapel founded by Manuel Ribeiro and Maria Antunes, currently administrated by licenciado Gaspar Portes Ribeiro and Isabel Barbosa de Aguilar, his wife.

Chapel foundation deed of Maria Martins, with assets worth 500 000 réis, taken from those she had received as an inheritance from João Dias, her husband. The institutor named Domingos Pires, her nephew, as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he would be succeeded by António Martins, his brother, and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the male heir.

Chapel foundation deed by which Baltasar de Abreu, Guarda da Casa da Índia, and Maria Fernandes, his wife, established a chapel, entailing to it their farmstead in Alenquer and a vineyard ("vinha da Lagoa"). They determined that its future administrators had to support the celebration of 6 annual masses for their souls in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where their bodies would be buried. After both of them died, the entail's administration would be given to a heir designated by Baltasar de Abreu. If he died before choosing a successor, it would be transmitted to his eldest son.

Chapel foundation deed by which Antónia Serrão de Nisa, acting on behalf of her sisters, Catarina Serrão and Mécia Serrão, established a chapel with their assets, which included houses and properties in Torres Novas and in Golegã. She appointed their niece, Leonor de Varela Serrão, who would marry Capitão João Serrão Pinheiro, to administrate it, determining that the entail would be passed to their eldest son. The future administrators of the entail were obligated to support the celebration of 40 annual masses for the institutors' souls in the church of S. Tiago of Torres Novas. Contains copy of a letter of attorney.

Chapel foundation deed in which Nuno Martins da Silveira and his wife Leonor Gonçalves de Abreu ordered the foundation of a chapel, of the invocation of the Salvador, with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in the monastery of São Domingos of Évora. They appointed Gonçalo da Silveira to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest male son by legitimate marriage.

Chapel foundation deed by Pedro Rodrigues. The administrator should be his godson and nephew Pedro Rodrigues, who was currently a student. The administration should be a privilege of the institutor's relatives who wanted to be ordained as priests, and the role could only be exercised by a layman in the absence of clerics.

Chapel foundation deed by which Salvador Gonçalves, moedeiro, and his wife, Inês Alves, establish a chapel with the invocation of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in the church of Santo Adrião da Póvoa, where they wish to be buried. They entail their properties, namely houses and farmlands in Póvoa de Santo Adrião, with an obligation of an annual mass on the day of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and other holidays of the Virgin. They appoint their niece, Inês Rodrigues, daughter of António Rodrigues and Beatriz Alves, sister of Inês Alves, as first administrator, and her successors afterwards. They also bequeath to their nephew, Bernardo Vaz, and to his successors, a vineyard which Salvador Gonçalves had inherited from his father, Gonçalo Pires, with an obligation of an annual mass in their chapel.

Chapel foundation deed by Doctor João de Coimbra, provisor in the Archbishopric of Braga. The founder declares that he had previously received permission from the King to acquire property to be incorporated into a chapel he had built in honour of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, next to the church of São João do Souto in Braga. His nephew, Cristóvão de Coimbra, would be the first owner and administrator of the chapel, to be succeeded by his first-born son, with the exception of clerics, illegitimate children and those who had committed lese-majeste crimes. The estates could not be leased to "fidalgos", "cavaleiros" or "oficiais do rei", but only to farmers and labourers. Every year, during the mass of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the chaplain would read the deed of foundation to keep the memory of the founder alive.

Chapel foundation deed by which Estêvão Ferreira da Gama, fidalgo da Casa do Rei, and D. Mécia Pereira, his wife, entail their properties in Lisboa, Sintra, Cascais, Torres Vedras, Lourinhã, Atouguia and Óbidos. They establish an obligation of a daily mass in the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Egito of the convent of S. Francisco de Xabregas, Lisboa. They appoint their daughter, Violante Pereira, as administrator, and her successors afterwards.

Chapel foundation deed of Manuel Gonçalves Moreira, which he had done in the church of the monastery of Santo António of Viana [do Castelo] and where he wanted to be buried. He entails his houses, located in Viana do Castelo, on Rua de Santa Catarina, for the celebration of the charges. The administrator must be the eldest, legitimate son. In case of non-fulfillment of the charges, the administration would transfer to Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Viana.

Chapel foundation deed by which Maria Rodrigues Gralha established an entail, incorporating some houses located in Cacilhas. The institutor donated these houses, by a dowry contract, to her nephew João Rodrigues da Frota and her cousin Isabel Leonardes who, after her death, should succeed in chapel's administration. The administrators should nominate the son they wanted to succeed them in the administration. The pious obligations should be celebrated in the Church of São Paulo de Almada.

Chapel foundation deed of the chapel of Santo Espírito, in the monastery of São Domingos of Évora, founded by Gonçalo Boto. He entailed assets to ensure the celebration of the previously contracted charges. He appointed Pedro Boto to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest male son.

Chapel foundation deed by Senhorinha Soares, widow of Afonso Vieira. Senhorinha had received from the convent of S. Francisco of Porto the altar of Saudação, located between the main chapel and the chapel of S. António, in the church of the aforementioned convent, in order to found her chapel. She appointed her nephew Manuel Soares, son of Simão Soares, as administrator, to be succeeded by the first-born son or, in the absence of a male heir, by the first-born daughter. If there weren't any relatives belonging to the "geração dos Soares", the succession would go to the relatives of her late husband.

Chapel foundation deed by which Baltasar Leite, Fidalgo da Casa do Rei and abade da igreja de S. Tiago da Carreira, established a chapel in the convent of S. Francisco of Porto, entailing to it a farmstead in S. Miguel de Cabreiros ("quinta de Cabreiros"), a house and mill in São Salvador de Castelões, rents (foros) in Aguiar de Sousa and part of a farmstead in Vila Caiz ("quinta dos Esporões"). He determined that the friars had to celebrate 24 annual masses for his soul and, in turn, he and his successors were obligated to give them, each year, 3 600 réis . After the institutor's death, the chapel would be administrated by his sister, Violante Mendes, widow of Jorge de Babo, and subsequently transmitted to one of the descendants of Beatriz Leite, their sister, and Manuel de Moura. The friars of the convent gave their consent to this deed

Chapel foundation deed by which Pedro Afonso Painho, mercador, and Catarina Vasques, his wife, established a chapel in the convent of S. Francisco of Porto. Their bodies would be buried in the altar of S. Pedro and annual masses had to be celebrated there. The institutors determined that the pious obligations would be supported with the revenues of houses on Rua dos Banhos, Judiaria and Campo do Souto. They appointed Vasco Pires, Pedro's illegitimate son, as its first administrator.

Chapel foundation deed by António Rebelo in the church of Santiago de Anha, fulfilling his uncle's will, and outilining the entail's rules. Since Manuel de Miranda, the following successor named by the institutor, had died, António Rebelo appointed as his successor Margarida Gonçalves. After her death, the administrator should be the closest kin of João Fernandes, following the established hierarchies of succession.

Chapel foundation deed by Simão Gonçalves Maciel and his wife Isabel de Faria. The entail should support a chapel that was meant to be built in the new church of Esposende, currently under construction, in which they should have their graves and a weekly mass. As administrator, they appointed Gaspar, son of Simão.

Chapel foundation deed by Álvaro do Porto de Pedroso, escudeiro fidalgo, and his wife Margarida Eanes. The document justifies the need to create entails as a way of avoiding partitions, favouring an heir who would preserve the memory of the founders and help his relatives. They decided to reserve their "terças", in which they incorporated the Barrosa manor, in the parish of Lanheses. They appointed their son Lourenço de Pedroso as the first administrator. The entail had the obligation of a weekly mass every Friday in the chapel of the mother church of Ponte de Lima, which had been built by Gonçalo do Porto, and of which the institutor was the administrator. They also imposed masses to be celebrated in the chapel of the Barrosa estate. Several obligations were imposed on the administrators: they had to acquire and entail lands in the vicinity of the Barrosa estate, and they had to use the surname of the founders, emphasising that this was the main reason for the foundation of the chapel, in memory of the people from whom they had received the estates.

Chapel foundation deed by padre Nuno Vaz de Sousa, by which he entails assets in Portalegre and the surrounding area, with a perpetual pious obligation of twelve masses celebrated every year in Portalegre. The institutor named Beatriz Delicado, his sister, as first administrator during her lifetime, as a dowry in return for the improvements he received from her. After her death, she would be succeeded by her son, preceding the male.

Chapel foundation deed by which Isabel Valente adds new assets to those that her husband Simão Vaz de Gamboa had entail in chapel, increasing the charges that had to be celebrated in the monastery of Santo Agostinho of Santarém. She appointed Diogo Fernandes to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest son.

Chapel foundation deed by which D. Constança de Castro founds a chapel, dedicated to Nossa Senhora, in the monastery of São Francisco of Évora, as it was her wish and that of her husband Fernando de Melo, already deceased. She appointed Cristóvão de Melo to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest son.

Chapel foundation deed by which Isabel Rodrigues Boto ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every week in the monastery of São Francisco of Évora. She appointed Diogo Rodrigues Boto to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by his eldest son.

Chapel foundation deed of Belchior Correia and Violante Gonçalves, his wife, in which they entail assets for the fulfillment of charges, celebrated in the monastery of São Francisco of Lisboa and appoint Pedro Correia, their son, as its first administrator.

Chapel foundation deed by which Henrique Homem established an entail, incorporating several properties located in Vila Meã and Oliveira do Conde, and donated them to his nephew Henrique Simões Homem, son of his niece Bárbara Botelho and her husband Pedro Simões, reserving the usufruct during his lifetime.

Chapel foundation deed of António Pires and Beatriz Gonçalves, his wife. Beatriz Gonçalves entails several assets, including her farmstead in Lisboa, with an obligation of annual masses in the altar of Nossa Senhora da Piedade of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisbon. António Pires undertakes to also entail a third of his assets. They appoint Pedro Rebelo, son of António Pires, as first administrator, and his descendants afterwards.

Chapel foundation deed by Luís de Cáceres in Casal Vasco, Fornos de Algodres. While he is alive, he is the chapel's administrator. After his death, his eldest male son will succeed him.

Chapel foundation deed by Pedro da Grã. The founder explains that the reason he decided to found the chapel was because of the benefits that masses bring to souls. For this reason, he established a chapel in the church of Santiago da Cividade, where perpetual masses would be celebrated. The first administrator was to be his brother Manuel da Grã, who had the power to appoint one of his relatives as his successor, preferring a man but accepting a woman. The founder bequeathed property to the chapel, but also left 1,000 cruzados to be used for the purchase of other properties. Two-thirds of the income was to be spent on pious obligations, such as masses and the marriage of orphans. The documents relating to the chapel were to be recorded in the "Livro das Capelas" of the Juízo dos Resíduos de Braga, to whom the institutior also demanded constant vigilance in the fulfilment of the pious duties. The administrator had to live in Braga and keep a key to the chapel. Two "tombos" of the chapel were made.

Chapel foundation deed by Gonçalo Barbosa. The institutor had previously built a chapel dedicated to São Gonçlo, which was located in Santa Maria de Ardegão, next to the house where he was born. Gonçalo Barbosa entailed all his possessions and established the rules of the institution: the succession would be by legitimate descent, appointing the son or daughter who was considered the most obedient and capable of managing the estates. The appointment of the second administrator and successor was postponed to the time when the founder was to make his will. In the absence of relatives, the administration was to go to the S. Marcos Hospital in Braga. In the same document, his nephew, Domingos Barbosa, priest of São Julião dos Passos, also entailed to the chapel the property he had inherited from his cousin, João Barbosa, of the church of São Salvador das Almas de Vilar.

Chapel foundation deed of the chapel of Santo Alberto, instituted by Manuel Rodrigues de Abreu, in the church of the College of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Coimbra. The chapel was purchased for 80 000 réis and destined for the institutor's tomb. He entails assets to fulfill the charges and decides to bind it in the form of a entail, to be administered by an administrator who fulfills the charges. He also undertook to decorate the chapel and appointed the licenciado Manuel de Aguiar da Fonseca as the first administrator to be succeeded by D. Luísa Pereira Pantoja, his wife, and after his death, Manuel de Aguiar Pereira, their grandson. If the descendants were missing, the administration would transfer to the College.
It contains the license granted by Frei Luís de Miranda, provincial of the Order of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, to institution the chapel (dated 1664-12-17).

Chapel foundation deed in the monastery of São Domingos do Porto by D. Afonso, duque de Bragança, fullfiling the wills of Fernando Eanes and Maria Afonso. The couple had previously established a chapel, but against the laws of the kingdom. The count had granted the king's authorization to fulfill the couple's will for the purpose of caring for the good of their souls. The first appointed administrator was Aires Gonçalves Taborda.

Chapel foundation deed by João Fernandes Mercatudo, appointing his nephew Francisco de Sousa as administrator.

Chapel foundation deed by which Francisco de Gouveia and Bertolesa da Veiga, his wife, established the chapel of Chagas, in the church of Nossa Senhora de Fonte Arcada. They entail assets to the chapel, taken of third part of they assets, to fulfill the charges. They appoint António de Gouveia, their eldest son, administrator. In case of extinction of the lineage, the municipality of Fonte Arcada should elect an administrator.

Chapel foundation deed by João Dias Leite, by which he decided to institute a chapel in the newly built church of Santa Cruz. He appointed his nephew Teodoro Leite as administrator. He and all the administrators had several obligations, namely to be members of the Brotherhood of Santa Cruz and to use the family coat of arms. Succession would pass primarily through first-born sons, excluding illegitimate children. A copy of the deed of foundation was to be inserted in the Livro das Capelas and another in the archives of the Brotherhood of Santa Cruz.

Chapel foundation deed of Alexandre Barroso Pereira, fidalgo da Casa do rei e moço do Guarda-roupa do rei, and Catarina Palau de Cardenes, his wife, by which they entailed all their assets, with the pious obligation of 40 annual masses in the hermitage of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso, located in S. Romão, in the outskirts of Alverca. Among the properties which they incorporated in the entail were houses in Lisboa and a farmstead (quinta) in the outskirts of Alverca do Ribatejo. The first administrator of the entail should be the surviving spouse, after whose death would succeed Luís Pereira Barroso, son of Alexandre Barroso Pereira's first marriage.

Chapel foundation deed by which D. Catarina de Sampaio Borges established a chapel, entailing to it a lease in Vila Nova de Anços ("Prazo do Campo da Mata") and determining that its revenues would support the celebration of a weekly perpetual mass for Pedro Borges Pessoa's soul, wherever its administrators desired. If her husband, António de Macedo Pereira, decided to erect a chapel inside his farmstead in Coimbra ("quinta de Verride"), the annual masses should be celebrated in it. She designated her stepson, Roque de Macedo Pereira Sampaio, to administrate it. When the time came, he would be succeeded by one of his sons.
António de Macedo Pereira and Catarina de Sampaio Borges also incorporated the improvements they had made in the farmstead of Verride in the entail administrated by António and commited themselves to annex to it other properties they would buy in the next 2 years. They appointed Roque de Macedo Pereira Sampaio to administrate that entail, obligating him and his successors to celebrate 12 annual masses for their souls.
The institutors decided that the chapel and that entail should always be administrated by the same person, after Roque's death.
Roque de Macedo Pereira Sampaio accepted this deed.

Chapel foundation deed by which Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira, Jorge Leitão's widow, entailed 40 000 réis of interest to the chapel she had established in the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa of Lisboa and 16 000 réis of interest to the chapel her late husband founded in that convent, which she administrated. She appointed Padre António de Sequeira to be the chaplain of her chapel. The institutor designated Francisco de Morais de Távora to become the administrator of both chapels. He would be succeeded by his eldest son. If the administrator left no descendants, the chapels would be administrated by the chaplain of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa. Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira donated 196 570 réis of interest to her daughter, Soror Joana de Jesus. Contains copies of licences issued on 1655-10-02 and 1658-03-08.

Chapel foundation deed by which Domingos Nunes and Ana Maria Rodarte, his wife, entail the third part of their assets, including houses in Lisboa and 30 silver vases, with the purpose of supporting the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for their souls in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa, where their bodies and those of their successors would be buried. They designate their grandson, Doutor João Coelho Rodarte, Catarina Rodarte's son, to become the chapel's first administrator, determining that he should transmit it to his eldest son at the time of his death.

Chapel foundation deed by which João Lopes Figueira and João de Gusmão, fidalgos da Casa do Rei, as executors of André da Silva's will, appoint Vicente Figueira d'Altero, João Lopes Figueira's son, as administrator and heir of the chapel established by André da Silva and his wife, Joana de Sequeira, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. The document mentions André da Silva's will, by which he ordered that his properties should be bequeathed to his wife, during her lifetime, and that after her death they would be entailed and bequeathed to a person chosen by João Lopes Figueira and João de Gusmão, and to this person's successors thereafter, with the obligation of one annual mass for their souls.

Codicil of Tomás de Bairros and Joana da Costa, his wife, revoking their will (dated 1559-10-29) and previous codicil. They order their grave in the same chapel as Jesus, in the church of Nossa Senhora do Funchal, in Ameixoeira. They instituted an entail and appoint whatever survives from them heir and administrator. They reduce the determined charges and appoint Damião Borges, to administer it after the death of both, if he married Isabel da Costa, Joana da Costa's niece. His son would succeed him. If the marriage did not materialize, the administration would fall to António Gonçalves and then to his eldest son.

Codicil made by Afonso Eanes in which he confirmed the foundation of the entail but reserved and entailed 4 alqueires of land on behalf of his daughter Leonor Dias, founding a second entail, with the perpetual obligation of five masses celebrated every year over his grave in All Soul's Day. After the death of Leonor the entail should always administrated by the eldest male heir.

Codicil by which Isabel Rodrigues, widow of Pedro Eanes, entails the houses where she lives and bequeaths them to her nephew, Estêvão Afonso, corretor de mercadorias, and to his successors afterwards, with the obligation of one anniversary in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, in the day of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. She also bequeaths him her casal da Torre, with an obligation of a weekly mass in the church of Madalena, Lisboa.

Codicil made by Fernando Ribeiro and his wife Catarina Jorge founding a chapel in the church of Nossa Senhora da Ventosa, Alenquer. They revoke the appointment of their niece Beatriz Gonçalves and nominate in first place Maria Serrão, sister of Beatriz, under the condition of getting married with the previous authorization of their parents, and in second place Margarida, sister of the above Beatriz and Maria. The other clauses remain unchanged.

Codicil of Domingos Dantas. He clarifies that Beatriz Dantas' successor should be her eldest son.

Codicil of the priest João Mendes by which he forbids the beneficiados of the church of Santa Maria do Bispo de Montemor-o-Velho to administrate the chapel after the death of João. Such administration should be given to the children of his cousin André Vicente or to the children of his son João Vicente or, in turn, to the children of his cousin Álvaro Luís. Any of them should be ecclesiastical.

Codicil made by Cosme Fernandes in which he ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual mass obligation of one mass celebrated every year. The institutor named his nephew Pedro as first administrator during his lifetime, and, after his death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir. The administrator of the entail would be exempt of presenting accounts to the Provedor das Capelas.

Codicil made by Luís Fernandes Ligeiro in which he ratified and rectified some of the dispositions of his will. He confirmed his nephew Manuel Gil as first administrator of the chapel and after his death he would always be succeeded, preferably, by his eldest male heir. If he died without heirs, the institutor named his niece Maria Rodrigues to administrate the chapel with the same conditions, as long as she married according to the wishes of her uncles. If she died without children, then the administration should be handled to the sons of her brother Francisco Rodrigues, with the same conditions. The institutor also disposed that besides the perpetual mass celebrated every sunday, the administrators should also celebrate the masses in all holly days.

Codicil mentioning the quinta of Vaqueiros and establishing some provisions regarding the will.

Codicil made by Francisca Viveiros confirming, among other dispositions, the foundation of the entail she made with her deceased husband, Francisco de Arruda da Costa, and their son Sebastião da Costa as first administrator. She disposed that Sebastião would be succeeded by his son Sebastião de Arruda, and if he died before assuming the administration, Sebastião da Costa would appoint one of his children to take his place, and from there on, the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir.

Codicil of the will chart of Clara Carreira, by which she establishes an annual mass for her soul in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She entails to it the casais in Sintra that she had bequeathed to her brother, João Carreira, in her will chart. The entail shall then be bequeathed to his successors. Followed by an aproval deed dated from the same day.

Codicil of the will chart of Clara Carreira, by which she establishes an annual mass for her soul in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She entails to it the casais in Sintra that she bequeathed to her brother, João Carreira, in her will chart. The entail shall then be bequeathed to his successors. Followed by an aproval deed dated from the same day.

Codicil by which Cristóvão de Brito, D. Beatriz de Ataíde's husband, member of the Conselho do Rei, establishes an entail with public debt instruments and a farmstead (quinta) in Ribatejo, appointing João de Brito, his nephew, to be its first administrator. The latter and his descendants are obligated to support the celebration of annual masses for the soul of the institutor in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Assunção of the church of the monastery of Madre de Deus of Lisboa and to maintain alight a lamp inside it. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1560-03-25 and an opening deed issued on 1561-08-09.

Codicil by which Maria Viegas, widow of Álvaro da Costa, entails the houses she bought with the money of her daughter, Maria do Nascimento, for her usufruct, according to her will. After Maria do Nascimento's death, the houses and the obligation shall pass to her sister, Vicência de Matos, wife of Domingos Viera, and not to Domingos Vieira, as Maria Viegas had previously established in her will. After Vicência's death, the entail shall pass to her eldest son, Manuel Vieira, who can, afterwards, appoint a successor among his children.

Codicil of Tomás de Bairros confirming the conditions of his codicil dated 1562-12-23. He confirms that, after the his and his wife's death, the administration of the chapel would fall to Isabel da Costa, his wife's niece, and to her husband, and later to their eldest son.

Codicil of Catarina Rodrigues Pimenta, widow of João Fernandes, ordering the fulfillment of the previous will done together with her husband. She established a chapel, at the hermitage of Santo António, near Moura, entailing the real estate he owned with that hermitage to fulfill the charges. She appoints António Rodrigues, her husband's nephew, as the first administrator. She orders that, after his death, the administration be transferred to the same administrator of the principal chapel, and then remain in the same administrator.
She appoints Álvaro, nephew of João Fernandes, son of Lourenço de Pina, his co-brother cousin, and Inês Fernandes, as administrator of the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. However, he could only receive it after completing 25 years, until then, being administration by Cristóvão de Almeida, nephew of the institutor. If the first died before reaching that age, or without children who could inherit it, he would be left to Cristóvão de Almeida and if he died without legitimate children, to António de Pina, son of Rui de Pina, also only after turning 25 years old.
It also contains an approval deed (dated 1516-08-09), and an opening deed of a will (dated 1518-03-07).

Codicil by which João Esteves, Contador do Rei, and Margarida Martins, his wife, establish an entail with all their patrimony, instituting the pious obligation of maintaining a chaplain who would celebrate annual masses for their souls in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. They appoint Vasco Lourenço, their criado, to be its first administrator, who should be succeeded by his eldest son.

Codicil of Maria de Barros, making some changes to the will that she had previously made. She confirms the institution of a chapel, entailing a house, on Rua de Castela, in Gáfete, for the fulfillment of charges, as well as the appointment of Gaspar Domingues, her husband, as first administrator, during his lifetime. After his death, he would be succeeded by Manuel, son of Pedro Marques and Margarida Aires, and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir.

Codicil made by Catarina Mouzinho, in which she ordered some changes on the dispositions of her will regarding the four entails she founded, thereby ordering that the succession of all entails should not be through appointment but, rather, the male heir of each administrator should be preferred on the succession of the entail.

Codicil made by Constança Eanes by which she modifies some of the clauses of her previous will. She appointed Leonor Lourenço heiress of all her assets, located in Évora and outskirts. After her death, she shall be succeeded by her oldest male son and from there on the succession shall continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir.

Codicil made by Leonor Vaz by which she revokes part of the content of a will and two previous codicils, made with her husband Fernando de Lamego. They had instituted a chapel with pious charges of masses, celebrated in the church of São João of Montemor-o-Novo, and appointed the vereadores of Montemor-o-Novo to administer it. Revoking this nomination, Leonor Vaz now appointed Lopo Vaz to be the first administrator of half of her chapel during his lifetime. After his death, he shall be succeeded by any of his sons who had been legitimated.

Codicil by which Garcia Rodrigues de Távora revokes his previous will and codicil. He orders the employment of the remaining part of his properties in the foundation of a female monastery of the order of S. Bernardo, under the regular observance of the order of Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. This monastery should receive nuns belonging to his family and to other noble families in need who should pray two daily masses for his soul. He asks his brother, Lourenço Pires de Távora, to fulfil his will and to build this monastery, of which he shall be the patron, and after his death, his eldest son and their successors.
Followed by an approval deed of the codicil and the opening deed, dated 1572-02-12.

Codicil by which João Monteiro established that he wanted his wife to be his heir and the entail's administrator, with the obligation to celebrate masses in the Church of São Vicente de Fora, in Lisboa. After her death, it should succeed Luís Eanes and his heirs. He declared that his slaves should serve his wife until her death and after it they would be free. He also determined that he wanted to order the celebration of masses for the soul of the Infante D. Henrique, Mestre da Ordem de Cristo, in compensation for the institutor's negligence in the administration of his chapels.

Codicil by which Vasco Lourenço de Almada confirms the dispositions he made in a previous will and establishes an entail with his third part. He bequeaths it to his son, João Vaz, and to his successors afterwards, ordering him to buy a house near the church of S. Mamede to keep four poor men and to order masses for his soul in that church.

Codicil made by Inês Fernandes, in which she ordered the foundation of an entail, composed of a vineyard in the outskirts of Arronches, with a perpetual mass obligation of seven masses celebrated every year. She named her husband Bartolomeu Sanches as first administrator of the entail and after his death, he would be succeeded by their son André Fernandes, and from there on the succession should always continue on the eldest male heir, and if he had none, their eldest grandson, son of André's sisters.
