Will made by Diogo Aparício, in which he ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of three entails and that his body should be buried on the chapel of N. Sra. da Conceição, in the church of Santiago of Marvão. The first entail would be composed of a vineyard on the city's outskirts, over which he imposed a perpetual obligation of four masses celebrated every year, and to administrate it he named his nephew Gonçalo Andrés with the condition that he would appoint one of his children to succeed him with the same conditions. The second entail would be composed of the houses where Diogo himself lived, and would have a perpetual obligation of four masses celebrated every year, and to administrate it he named Domingos Gonçalves, weaver, with the condition that he would appoint one of his children to succeed him with the same conditions. The third entail would also be composed of a vineyard on the city's outskirts, named Água da Cuba, over which he imposed a perpetual obligation of four masses celebrated every year, and to administrate it he named his nephew João Aparício with the condition that he would appoint one of his children to succeed him with the same conditions.

Will of Fernando Pires and Helena Dias Viegas, instituting an entail with pious obligations in the altar of São Pedro de Rates, in Braga's cathedral, and in the church of Misericórdia in the same city. As administrator, they appointed Pedro de Carvalho and his offspring.

Will made by Catarina Carrilho, in which she ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of three entails. The first entail would be composed of some houses and a golden cross, over which the institutor imposed a perpetual mass obligation of two masses celebrated every year, and to administrate she named Maria Inchada as first administrator during her lifetime, and, after her death, the administration would be handled to her eldest son or daughter, whoever she appointed, who would be succeeded by their eldest son or daughter with the same conditions. She bequeathed a land to the Confraria de S. Pedro imposing a perpetual obligation of one mass celebrated every year over it, and, from the remaining of all her assets she ordered the foundation of two more chapels. The second chapel would have a perpetual obligation of two masses celebrated every week on the mother church of Alpalhão, and would be administrated by her cousin, Maria Mendes, wife of Manuel Dalva, who lived on Castelo de Vide, and, after their deaths, the succession should always continue on the eldest heir, male or female. The third chapel would have a perpetual obligation of 102 masses celebrated every year, that being two masses celebrated every week, and would be administrated by Maria Chambel Alfaia, during her lifetime, and by her son Manuel and his eldest heirs, male or female, after his death. However, if Manuel wished to became a clergyman, he would only administrate during his lifetime, and, after his death, the administration would be handled to his sister Joana, and after the death of Joana to Pedro, their brother, and after his death to Maria Inchada, administrator of the first chapel, or, if none of them had children, to Sebastiana, daughter of Amaro Gomes and Leonor Miguéis, and, after the death of Sebastiana, if she also had no children, the administration would be transmitted to Maria, daughter of João Dias Rovisco, or the Confraria do Santo Nome de Jesus of Alpalhão.

Carrilho, Catarina (d.1687)

Will of Manuel Dias Furtado expressing his wish to be buried in the church of the convent of São Francisco of Ponta Delgada. He bequeaths rents of wheat and the half of a vineyard to Maria Furtado, his niece, with the obligation of 11 annual masses. He bequeaths two parts of a vineyard, another half of a vineyard and a rent of wheat to his nephew, Manuel Dias Furtado, with the obligation of 9 annual masses. He bequeaths a lease and a half of a farmland to his nephew, João Soares de Sousa, with the obligation of 6 annual masses, and bequeaths the other half of this farmland to his other nephew, Agostinho de Sousa de Almada, with the obligation of three annual masses. These properties should always be transmitted to successors belonging to the lineage of his nephews and niece .

Will of Maria do Rego, instituting an entail by all her estates with pious obligations in the church of São Mamede de Deocriste, appointing as administrator Francisco Jacome Bezerra, granting him and the remaining administrators the power to appoint their successors.

Will made by padre Simão Rodrigues da Costa in which he ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of ten masses celebrated every year on the Cathedral or on the Jesuit church of Portalegre, in the chapel that should be purchased for the burial of his body. The institutor named his nephew Francisco Reixa da Costa as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he would appoint a successor to succeed him with the same conditions, preferably one of his male children or strictly blood relatives. He also bequeathed some properties to João Marques to sustain and pay for his studies with the condition that he would became a clergyman, and, after his death, those properties should be annexed to the chapel. The institutor ordered the first administrator to register this will and the entailed properties on the Tombo record books of the Provedoria of Portalegre.

Will by which Maria Álvares, daughter of Pedro Fernandes Lameira, expresses her wish to be buried in the cathedral of Portalegre, near her father. She establishes an entail with her remaining properties with an obligation of twenty masses celebrated every year. She names her mother, Isabel Gonçalves, as first administrator, and, after her death, the administration would be transmitted to padre Manuel Fernandes Lameira, her brother. From there on the succession should always continue by appointment made by the last administrator.

Will of Branca de Jesus, beata da ordem terceira de S. Francisco, by which she expresses her wish to be buried in the main church of Amieira do Tejo. She institutes two entails. The first in favour of her great-niece Beatriz, daughter of her niece Maria Gonçalves, composed of her houses and farmlands in Amieira, with the obligation of 10 annual masses. The administrator had the power to appoint his successor, and female children would be preferred to male. The second entail was in favour of her niece Maria Gonçalves, it was composed of her farmlands and had the obligation of six annual masses. After her death, the properties should be transmitted to the closest relative.
Followed by the approval deed, dated 1649-09-03, and the opening deed of the will, dated 1651-03-04.

Will made by Maria Vidal, in which she ordered to be buried in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in Castelo de Vide, and founded two entails. The first entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of one mass celebrated every year as long as the world lasted, and should be administrated by her niece Maria Vidal during her lifetime. After her death, she should appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions, and the succession should continue by appointment. She left her niece somo houses and some "castanheiros" in Castelo de Vide and its outskirts. The second entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every year as long as the world lasted, and should be administrated by her niece Isabel Vidal during her lifetime. After her death, she should appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions, and the succession should continue by appointment. She left her some movable goods from the houses she possessed in Castelo de Vide. She also disposed that all entailed properties of both entails should be registered on the record books of the Provedoria das Capelas.

Will made by João Rodrigues Mouzinho in which he ordered to be buried in the Church of Santo António da Conceição, in Castelo de Vide, and founded three entails. The first entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of twenty masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by António Rodrigues, son of the institutor, during his lifetime. Before his death, he would appoint a son or daughter to succeed him with the same conditions. This entail is composed of some "tapadas" in Ribeira de Vide. The second entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of ten masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by Leonor Carrilho, daughter of the institutor, during her lifetime. Before her death, she would appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions. The third entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of ten masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by Justa Rodrigues Mouzinho, daughter of the institutor, during her lifetime. Before her death, she would appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions. These last two entails are composed of houses and olive groves located in Castelo de Vide. No administrator could ever marry with a person of the so-called "infected races" and was obliged to present an account of the administration to the Misericórdia of Castelo de Vide in every two years.

Will made by Maria Fernandes, nicknamed "a Grila", in which she ordered to be buried in the Mother Church of Amieira. She founded three entails, one for her nephew João Aires, a second for her niece Isabel Dias, and the third for her nephew Manuel Martins da Cruz, respectively with perpetual pious obligations of five, four and twenty masses celebrated every year as long as the world lasted. The first two entails are composed of houses, vineyards and olive groves in Amieira, and the last one is composed of movable and immovable goods. Each one of those first appointed administrators would be succeeded by a son or daughter of their own choice, or by a close relative if they have none, and from there on the succession should always continue through appointment.

Will made by António Vaz in which he ordered to be buried in the Church of Espírito Santo, in Nisa, and founded an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of eight masses celebrated every year. The institutor named his uncle Fernando Silvestre as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he would chose a son or daughter to succeed him, and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest heir.

Will of Ana Vaz Roxo, instituting an entail by her estates in Vale do Serrão, Castelo de Vide, with the perpetual obligation of a daily mass. The properties were to be held by her son, the friar Gaspar de São José, and on his death, they were to pass to her nephew, Manuel Vivas Tavares. The administrator had the power to appoint his successor, and preference was to be given to clerics within the family. The testator requested that the celebration of mass be supervised by the "Provedores da comarca". If the administrators fail to fulfil this duty, the entail should be given to the Misericórdia.

Will by which Diogo Belo expresses his wish to be buried near his deceased wife, Beatriz Álvares, in the church of Nossa Senhora da Devesa of Castelo Branco. He establishes an entail with the obligation of six annual masses, and appointing as administrator his nephew António Belo, to be succedeed by his son João Belo or by another appointed person in case of his death.

Will made by Lucas Fernandes and his wife Joana Dias, in which they order their burial in the church of Espírito Santo of Portalegre and the foundation of two entails. The first entail would be composed of a share of an estate in Ribeira da Seda, entailed to an obligation of twelve annual masses. They name as administrators Andreza Dias, sister of Lucas Fernandes, and her husband, João Gonçalves, who would be succeded by their daughter and by Francisco Dourado and their descendants. The second entail would be composed of a land, vineyard and orchard in Carvalhal, entailed to an obligation of twelve annual masses. They name Catarina Martins, sister of Joana Dias, as first administrator, and after her death, she would be succeeded by Ana de Miranda who would appoint one of her children to succeed her with the same conditions.

The first entail should be equivalent to the mayorazgos of Castille, as she expressly declared, and would be composed of vineyeards, a tapada and public debt titles worth 150.000 réis, over which she imposed a perpetual pious obligation of one daily mass celebrated on the chapel of Santa Maria Madalena of the church of S. João, in Castelo de Vide, where her body should be buried. For the second entail she bequeathed a sum worth 550.000 réis that should be applied on the purchase of public debt instruments from whose revenue the entail should be maintained, with a perpetual pious obligation of another daily mass. To administrate both of them, she named her brother frei António Rodrigues Sarzedas during his lifetime, with the condition that he would appoint administrators to succeed in both entails after his death, and she also ordered that those entailed properties could never be incorporated to the patrimony of the Order of Malta.

Will made by Luzia do Espírito Santo and her sister Guiomar da Vitória, in which they ordered to be buried in the Convent of Castelo de Vide, and founded an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of eight masses that should be celebrated every year. The institutors named one another as first administrator during their lifetimes and, after their deaths, the last one alive would be succeeded by their niece Maria Tarouca, daughter of their nephew António Mouzinho Galeano, who would administrate the entail until Maria reached the age of 25 years old. Before her death, Maria would appoint one her children or relatives to succeed her, and from there on the succession should continue by appointment, as long as the chosen administrator never married with a person of the so-called "infected races". This entail is composed of houses, vineyards and lands in Castelo de Vide.

Will by which Silvestre Galão and his wife Maria Francisca established an entail, appointing their nephew Domingos Soares to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Bucelas. This entail is composed of immovable goods located in Bucelas.

Will by which Gaspar Carvalho and his wife Maria Duarte da Costa established an entail, appointing each other to be the administrator and after their death whomever they chose. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Bucelas. This entail is composed of a foro (rent) from houses, lands and olive groves located in Bucelas. This will was approved in 1632-06-06 and the institutor's died in 1633-11-11.

Will by which Francisco Serrão de Almeida established an entail, appointing his wife Ana de Lencastre to be its first administrator. His godson Manuel is obligated to became a priest and to celebrate masses in the Ermida do Glorioso Mártir de São Vicente, in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Porta do Céu, Telheiras. This entail is composed of a farm in Telheiras and houses located in Lisboa.

Will by which Marcos Mendes, Isabel Garcês' widower, fulfilling his wife's will, ordered the celebration of a perpetual annual mass for her soul in the church of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, determining that this obligation should be supported with the revenues of houses he had in Lisboa. He left this entail to his niece, Isabel Mendes, indicating that she could not sell or exchange the houses for other properties. After her death, it had to be transmitted to a son or daughter of her choice.
Furthermore, the testator bequeathed houses in Rua Nova D'El-Rei, Lisboa, to his niece, which had been left to him by his mother with the obligation of supporting the celebration of 2 sung masses, each year, in the church of S. Julião. Those houses had to be passed to another son or daughter of her choice.
Marcos Mendes declared that his body had to be buried inside that convent.

Will by which Inácio Vieira da Maia established an entail, appointing his second wife Joana Leitão to be its first administrator. She was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, in Lisboa. This entail is composed of "fornos de cal" located in Lisboa that his first wife Helena de Castro left to him. She established that he was due to order the celebration of masses for her soul in the Convent of Carmo, in Lisboa, and for his soul whenever he chose. Inácio Vieira da Maia is also the administrator of Camila Teles' chapel and Vianda Eanes Leonardes' chapel. He designates his wife as heir of the chapel of Camila Teles, and Filipe Vieira Pinto, his cousin, as administrator of the chapel of Vianda Eanes Leonardes.

Will by which D. Catarina de Sá expresses her wish to be buried in the church of S. Cristóvão of Lisboa. She confirms she had donated to her son, António de Miranda, all of her properties, including a farmstead in Belém. She establishes an obligation of 13 masses for her soul, and the souls of her parents, her husband, Fernando de Miranda, and her daughter, D. Ana. If her son dies without succession, the entail shall pass to his sister, D. Maria de Sá.
Followed by a declaration by the author in which she changes her burial place to the church of the monastery of Santo Elói, also in Lisboa, where her mother is buried. She requests that seven of the 13 masses shall be prayed in that church, and the other six in S. Cristóvão. She also requests the transference of her daughter's body to the monastery of Santo Elói.

Will by which Mem Rodrigues de Abreu and D. Constança Ribeiro express their wish to be buried in their chapel of Nossa Senhora do Rosário of the convent of S. Domingos of Elvas.
They bequeath their part of the estate of S. Domingos, which Mem Rodrigues de Abreu inherited from his father, to João Pereira de Abreu, Mem's brother, with an obligation of five annual masses for their souls. This estate shall pass to the child or grandchild of João Pereira de Abreu who inherits the entail of doutor João Pereira, which Mem Rodrigues de Abreu possessed, and to which he appoints his brother as next administrator.
They entail their landed properties with an obligation of a daily mass prayed by the priests of S. Paulo de Elvas. They appoint as first administrator of this entail Manuel Gomes Ribeiro, brother of D. Constança, if they don't have children. The successor shall be chosen by appointment among his descendants. If no appointment is made, the entail shall pass to his eldest son. If Manuel Gomes Ribeiro dies without descendants, the entail shall pass to one of his brothers or sisters.
They also make donations to the confrarias of S. Pedro de Elvas and of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Brancos, ordering they pray weekly and annual masses for their souls. These obligations shall only have effect if they don't have children.

Abreu, Mem Rodrigues de (flor.1640)

Will by which Inês Vaz, Gomes Eanes' widow, bequeathed houses in the parish of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires to her compadre, Doutor Manuel de Almeida, obligating him and his successors to celebrate annual masses for her soul in the church of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires of Lisboa, where her body would be buried. After his death, the entail would be inherited by his wife, Beatriz Pinheiro, and subsequently passed to a son of her choice.
The testator also left lands (casal) in Belém to Doutor Manuel de Almeida, if he chose to accept that donation.

Will by which Mem Rodrigues de Abreu and D. Constança Ribeiro express their wish to be buried in their chapel of Nossa Senhora do Rosário of the convent of S. Domingos of Elvas.
They bequeath their part of the estate of S. Domingos, which Mem Rodrigues de Abreu inherited from his father, to João Pereira de Abreu, Mem's brother, with an obligation of five annual masses for their souls. Lourenço, in the church of Santa Luzia, in Feteiras, in the outskirts of Ponta Delgada, as determined in the dowry deed made by her and her sister, Isabel Fernandes, to Manuel Vaz Carreiro and their niece, Maria de Sousa Benevides. She appoints Manuel Vaz Carreiro as her executor and heir. She also mentions the chapel of her parentes, João Gonçalves and Ana Gonçalves, and bequeaths the house given to her slave Luzia, after her death, to the daughter of Maria de Sousa, with the pious obligation of a prayed mass in the chapel of S. Lourenço.

Will by which Diogo Cirne, Provedor da Fazenda em Pernambuco, orders the executor of his will to buy a chapel in a church or convent of his choice. He establishes an entail with lands (casal) in Valores, Loures, properties (casais) in S. João dos Porqueiros, Sintra, houses in Tronco and in Rua dos Douradores, Lisboa, a farmstead (quinta) in Almada and lands (casal) in Alenquer, determining that Francisco Nunes de Ávila, its first administrator, must support the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for his soul in that chapel. After both of them died, those properties would be entailed to a chapel, which would be administrated by Inês Cardoso, her niece. She and her successors were obligated to support the chaplain responsible for the celebration of a daily perpetual mass.

She ordered the chapel to be ornated with a vault, altarpiece, curtains for lent and feast days, and a lamp that should be lit on the days of the Virgin Mary.

The first entail would be composed of some houses and a golden cross, over which the institutor imposed a perpetual mass obligation of two masses celebrated every year, and to administrate she named Maria Inchada as first administrator during her lifetime, and, after her death, the administration would be handled to her eldest son or daughter, whoever she appointed, who would be succeeded by their eldest son or daughter with the same conditions. She bequeathed a land to the Confraria de S. Pedro imposing a perpetual obligation of one mass celebrated every year over it, and, from the remaining of all her assets she ordered the foundation of two more chapels. The second chapel would have a perpetual obligation of two masses celebrated every week on the mother church of Alpalhão, and would be administrated by her cousin, Maria Mendes, wife of Manuel Dalva, who lived on Castelo de Vide, and, after their deaths, the succession should always continue on the eldest heir, male or female. The third chapel would have a perpetual obligation of 102 masses celebrated every year, that being two masses celebrated every week, and would be administrated by Maria Chambel Alfaia, during her lifetime, and by her son Manuel and his eldest heirs, male or female, after his death. However, if Manuel wished to became a clergyman, he would only administrate during his lifetime, and, after his death, the administration would be handled to his sister Joana, and after the death of Joana to Pedro, their brother, and after his death to Maria Inchada, administrator of the first chapel, or, if none of them had children, to Sebastiana, daughter of Amaro Gomes and Leonor Miguéis, and, after the death of Sebastiana, if she also had no children, the administration would be transmitted to Maria, daughter of João Dias Rovisco, or the Confraria do Santo Nome de Jesus of Alpalhão.

He disposed that the administrator should give 2 arrobas of oil to keep a candle always lit in the altar of the Santíssimo Sacramento. Finally, he appointed his cousin Sebastião de Arruda da Costa to succeed him on the administration of the entail founded by his grandfather Pedro da Costa, and also appointed his cousin Pedro da Costa de Arruda as administrator of the entail founded by his father João de Arruda da Costa, as closest relative.

She named her son padre João Borges da Câmara as first administrator of the entail, her daughter Maria de Medeiros after his death, and after Maria, her grandson João. If João died before assuming the administration, Maria de Medeiros would appoint a second born son or daughter at her choice, and from there on the succession should always be held by second born sons. If the bloodline was extinguished, the entail should be administrated by the same administrator of the entail founded by her husband Gaspar Medeiros de Sousa. She mentioned that her son Gaspar de Medeiros da Câmara would succeed on the administration of the entails administrated by his brother Duarte Borges da Câmara. She appointed her son António Borges on the administration of the entails founded by her mother Maria da Câmara and her grand-grandmother Luzia Brandoa and her grand-grandfather Bernardinho da Câmara.

Ana de Noronha, bought in the antechorus of the church of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa.
He designates his only grandson, D. António da Silveira de Albuquerque, son of his deceased daughter, Beatriz de Albuquerque, and of Jerónimo da Silveira, as his universal heir. He bequeaths him all of his properties in Lisboa, Paio Pires and Torres Vedras as an entail. This entail shall be joined to and have the same clauses of succession as the entail of Afonso Mexia, established in 1550-10-03, which António da Silveira de Albuquerque had inherited from his grandmother, Beatriz Mexia. The administrator shall take a part of his entail's properties to order a daily mass for his soul in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade, rescue captives, marry orphans and establish two mercieiros in his chapel. His wife, D. Ana de Noronha, shall have the usufruct of a third part of the properties of the entail during her lifetime. If his grandson refuses these conditions, or dies without succession, the administration of the entail shall pass to the priests of Santíssima Trindade, who shall appoint a layman as the next administrator.
Jorge Albuquerque appoints his grandson as administrator of the chapel of his grandparents in the mother church of Beja. He also orders that the obligation of masses for the soul of his father, Fernando de Albuquerque, should continue to be prayed in the church of Nossa Senhora da Serra of Goa. This obligation was entailed to an orchard in that city, which he had received as a dowry upon his marriage to his first wife, Isabel de Sousa, and had given to his daughter, Beatriz de Albuquerque, at the time of her own marriage.

She named her nephew and niece João Pacheco de Vasconcelos and Luísa de Vasconcelos as first administrators, with the condition that every year they should alternate one another on the administration, as long as Luísa lived, and after their deaths João should appoint one of his sons or daughters to succeed on the administration with the same conditions. Besides her real state she also entailed a black slave named Manuel.

After his death, the entail should be administrated by his sister Ana who could appoint one or her daughters to succeed her or give the entail as part of a dowry to one of her daughters, if any of them wished to get married. From there on the succession should always continue in any female daughter, always appointed by the last female administrator, and, in the absence of female heirs, the male could administrate the entail, but only until a new female was born. If Ana had no children, the entail's administration should be given to one of the daughters of André Fernandes.

Will of Beatriz de Meneses, countess of Marialva and Loulé. Beatriz states that she and her late husband had a great devotion to the Order of St. Francis. For that reason, they determined to found a monastery dedicated to S. António, in their farmestead of S. António de Ferreirim, in which they would both be buried. The Countess declared that all her descendants and heirs had died and that she therefore had full power over her inheritance. She decided to declare the Infante D. Luís as her universal heir. At the same time, the testator decided to reserve rural properties and to incorporate them into a chapel to be instituted in the convent of S. António de Ferreirim. The first administrator of the chapel would be Francisco Gouveia, "criado" of her late husband. Succession would always occur by joint appointment of the judge of Lamego and the dean of the cathedral. If the last possessor of the entail had a male child, he could succeed, but this always depended on the will of the judge and the dean. According to Beatriz's wishes, the administrator could not be a "fidalgo", a rich or powerful person.

Will made by Manuel de Oeiras, in which he ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail, with a perpetual obligation of 3 sung masses and 15 masses celebrated in the church of Vera Cruz, in Vila da Praia, Terceira island. He named his brother João de Oeiras and Catarina Vaz as first administrators of the entail, and his nephew Baltasar de Oeiras after them, succeeding a person of his family lineage that would be chosen by Baltasar. He derogated his share on a will he made with his deceased wife, Ana Luísa, but he appointed João de Oeiras to administrate the entail founded by her.

Will made by Sebastião Pinto and Maria da Costa in which they ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail, composed of an estate named Quinta do Revirado, in Terceira island, with a perpetual obligation of 24 masses celebrated every year, 12 for each of them. They named their four children to administrate it for two years each, starting in this order, first Maria da Costa and then Francisco, Manuel and Domingos. By the time of their deaths, each of them could appoint one of their own children to succeed them.

Will of Manuel Afonso, founding an entail with a chapel of a weekly mass. Manuel Afonso appoints his daughters, nuns in the monastery of Santa Clara of Vila do Conde, as the first administrators, with the right to receive a part of the income of the entailed estates. After their death, the administrators should be Jerónimo da Rolha and Ana dos Reis, nephews of the institutor, and their descendants.

Will by which Branca Antónia, damsel who never married, expresses her wish to be buried in the chapel of Santo António of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade, founded by her ancestors. She establishes an entail with her houses in Rua Nova de Lisboa, with an obligation of three daily masses, one in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade, another in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Socorro of Camarate and another in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Setúbal. She designates her niece, D. Guiomar de Brito, as administrator of her entail, and her children afterwards. If she doesn't have children, she can appoint the next administrator among her relatives.

Will of João Pinto de Vasconcelos, written before professing. He entails his assets in chapel, to fulfill the charges, celebrated in the church of Caria. He appoints Maria Pinto de Vasconcelos, his sister, heir and administrator. It was then up to her to appoint the son or daughter who should succeed her in the administration. Luís Pinto, his brother, could bring half of the chapel during his lifetime.

He entails all his assets, with the consent of Manuel Pinheiro da Fonseca and cónego João Pinheiro da Fonseca, his children, to fulfill the charges and appoints Manuel Pinheiro da Fonseca, administrator of the entail.

Will made in Portalegre by padre Domingos Pires in which he ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of twenty-four masses celebrated every year on the chapel of Espírito Santo, where his body should be buried. He named his nephew Domingos as first administrator of the entail during his lifetime with the condition that he would only receive the administration after his emancipation, whether he marries or becomes a cleric, and until then the usufructs of the entail would be administrated by Joana Dias, mother of Domingos. After the death of Domingos the institutor named, in this order, his niece Joana, his nephew Manuel, Joana Dias and Maria Dias to succeed Domingos on the administration of the entail, with the same conditions, and after all of them passed away, the last one alive would appoint the next administrator. From there on the administrator would be selected by appointment and the pious obligation would be increased to one daily mass. No administrator could ever marry with a person of the so-called "infected races".

Will made by which Manuel Gonçalves Serra, clérigo de missa, expresses his wish to be buried in his parish church of S. Lourenço of Portalegre. He established an entail composed of his houses and a vineyard with a perpetual obligation of thirteen annual masses. He named his father Diogo Guerreiro as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he would be succeeded by Maria de S. José and Domingas Rodrigues, sisters of the institutor, and by Jacinto Vaz after they passed away, and from there on the last administrator would chose another administrator to succeed him with the same conditions.

Will made by Manuel Tomás in which he expressed his wish to be buried in the main church of Vila Flor. He disposed that all the remaining assets of his will should be split in three equal shares, establishing three chapels, each one with a perpetual pious obligation of seven annual masses. He named his siblings António Gonçalves, Maria Barreiros and Isabel Miguéis to administer them. Each administrator would appoint, preferably, a son to succeed on the administration of each chapel as long as the world lasted.

The first entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of one mass celebrated every year as long as the world lasted, and should be administrated by her niece Maria Vidal during her lifetime. After her death, she should appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions, and the succession should continue by appointment. She left her niece somo houses and some "castanheiros" in Castelo de Vide and its outskirts. The second entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every year as long as the world lasted, and should be administrated by her niece Isabel Vidal during her lifetime. After her death, she should appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions, and the succession should continue by appointment. She left her some movable goods from the houses she possessed in Castelo de Vide. She also disposed that all entailed properties of both entails should be registered on the record books of the Provedoria das Capelas.

She founded an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of two masses that should be celebrated every year. The institutor named her niece Beatriz Dias as first administrator during her lifetime and, before her death, she would appoint a son or daughter to succeed her with the same conditions, and from there on the succession should always continue by appointment. If Beatriz had no children, the administration would be handled to Constança Vaz and Margarida Vaz, nieces of the institutor. This entail is composed of houses, "tapada" and "souto" in Castelo de Vide.

The first entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of five masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by his wife during her lifetime and, after her death, the administration would be handled to a close relative. This entail is composed of houses in Marvão. The second entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of four masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by Mateus Pires, his brother, during his lifetime and, after his death, the administration would be handled to the closest relative of the institutor lineage. This entail is composed of land located in Vale de Figueiró. The third entail would have a perpetual pious obligation of five masses celebrated every year and would be administrated by his Leonor Pires, sister of the institutor, during her lifetime and, before her death, she would appoint one of her children or a close relative to succeed her on the administration. This entail is composed of a "souto" in the place of Arraial.

Each of them should order three annual masses for his soul. They would be succeded by their youngest daughters, who had the power to appoint their successors, male or female.

Will made by Catarina Álvares, in which she ordered the foundation of an entail and chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of one daily mass celebrated in Santa Catarina's hermitage, in Gáfete, which belonged to the her. The institutor named her husband Manuel Dias Feio as first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he would be succeeded by her nephew Baltasar Feio and from there on the succession should continue through appointment of a relative within her lineage. The institutor ordered that the first administrator should spend 20 000 réis in an altarpiece for the same hermitage, and that all administrators should receive 20 000 réis in every year for administrating it and the chaplain who celebrated the masses should receive 30 000 réis.

Will of Francisco Dias Liote, by which he decided to entail his properties in Amieira. With the entail came the perpetual obligation to pay for the celebration of seven masses each year. The first administrator would be his brother Diogo Liote, who lived in Crato. He was to be succeeded by his daughter Francisa Ferreira and her descendants, or alternatively by his son Francisco Ferreira. The administrators had the power to choose one of their descendants to succeed them.

Will made by cónego Luís Dias in which he expressed his wish to be buried near his mother in the Misericórdia of Portalegre. He bequeathed his niece, Isabel, a farmland he posessed, as an entail, with an obligation of five masses celebrated every year, under the condition that she would appoint an administrator to succeed her, and from there on the succession should always continue through appointment. He bequeaths his brother, Diogo Dias, his vegetable garden and an olivegrove with the obligation of five more annual masses. It should pass to his nephew, Manuel Vaz, after Diogo's death, and to his successors afterwards. He also bequeaths his vineyard of Carvalhal to his nephews, Estêvão and Martinho Vaz, under the condition that they order two annual masses for his soul, under the same conditions as the previous donations he made.
