She designates her niece, D. Maria, daughter of Jorge Carreiro de Almada and of D. Luísa da Gama, Guiomar's sister, as her heir, executor and administrator of her chapel and entail. She bequeaths her the third part of her husband and her own third part, entailing them to their chapel, with an obligation of 100 masses for their souls. The entail shall pass to D. Maria's descendants, with a preference for daughters. If she dies without successors, it shall pass to one of her siblings in this order: D. Helena, D. Jerónima, D. Francisco de Almada or D. They were due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Purificação de Bucelas. This entail is composed of a farm in Vila de Rei and houses located in Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Violante de Castro appoints her niece, Jerónima de Castro, as her universal heir, with the obligation of ordering a weekly mass for her soul in the convent of S. Francisco de Xabregas, where she wishes to be buried, and a Requiem mass in the church of Santo Espírito of Bucelas. If Jerónima de Castro dies without heirs, the entail shall pass to her brother, Tristão Vaz de Castro, and to his descendants, or to her sister, Leonor de Castro, and her descendants. Part of the properties entailed are leases in Arranhó.

Will (extract) by which Margarida Tomás de Fonseca established an entail, appointing her son Miguel Rodrigues to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of São João, in Lisboa. This entail is composed of a "casal" called "as Cotovias" located in the outskirts of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa establishes two entails for his two grandsons, António Gomes do Alemo, son of his son Jorge Gomes do Alemo, and António de Torres, son of his daughter, Isabel Henriques, and of Diogo Lopes.
He bequeaths three quarters of his engine in Baía de Todos-os-Santos to António Gomes do Alemo, with the obligation of one daily mass in his chapel of Santo Ângelo, in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. If he dies before his grandfather, the entail shall pass to his father and siblings, or, if they have no descendants, to the lineage of António de Torres. He bequeaths the other quarter of his engine to António de Torres, with an obligation of five annual masses in the same chapel and the same clauses of succession as the other entail. After four years, António Gomes do Alemo shall use the revenue of his entail to buy the part of the engine belonging to António de Torres and annex it to his entail. António de Torres shall buy properties to entail in its place with the revenue from this sale. If both their lineages are extinguished, the sucession shall be by appointment.

This entail is composed of a farm in Penha de França with its olive groves, houses and orchard; houses located in Lisboa; a "casal" in Santiago dos Velhos; and an orchard and a farm called "Teixeira", on the outskirts of Santarém. If her nephew died childless, it should succeed her niece Luísa Cardoso and her heirs. The institutor also established that her nephew Francisco Cardoso de Montalvo should sell leased propriety in order to buy free holding assets to be incorporated into the entail. She finally established that she wanted to give to her nephew Manuel Cardoso a rent of some assets located in Santarém, with the obligation to take care of his mother and the institutor's sister, and to celebrate masses for the soul of her deceased sisters and parents. Francisco Cardoso de Montalvo could buy this rent (foro) for the value of 200 000 réis. After Manuel Cardoso's death, this propriety should pass to the entail's administrator, Francisco Cardoso de Montalvo.

Will (extract) by which António de Miranda Campelo and his wife D. Maria dos Reis established an entail, designating their son Alberto de Miranda Campelo to be its first administrator. If he died without heirs, it should succeed D. Maria dos Reis and after her death their daughter D. Catarina and her heirs. The successors were due to order the celebration of masses wherever they wanted and to give to their daughter Ângela do Sacramento, a nun, 40 000 réis each year. This entail is composed of a farm called "Saúde" located in Sacavém.

Will (extract) by which Padre Gaspar Godinho bequeaths all his assets to D. Violante Godinho, his niece, Custódio de Figueiredo's wife, obligating her and her descendants to support the celebration of 10 annual masses for his soul in the church of S. Julião de Lisboa. After his niece's death, the chapel should be administrated by her eldest son. The testator leaves rents (foros) of wheat in Herdade dos Gregos and Herdade da Aldeia dos Barbudos, Portel, to his sister, D. Isabel Godinho, declaring that, after her death, they should be entailed to his chapel.

Will (extract) by which Pedro Alves entails a casal in Cascais with an obligation of several annual masses in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, where he wishes to be buried. He designates his daughter, Francisca Antunes, as first administrator of his entail, and her descendants afterwards.

Will (extract) by which Valentim de Barona entails his houses in Lisboa with an obligation of 50 annual masses for his soul and the soul of his wife, Maria da Costa, in the church of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo. He designates his daughter, Maria de Barona, married to Francisco Vales, as first administrator of his entail, and her descendants afterwards. If she doesn't have any, the entail shall pass to her sister, Leonor de Barona, married to Jacques Verjões, and to her successors. He donates other properties to his granddaughter, also called Maria de Barona, nun in the monastery of Odivelas, which must be annexed to his entail after her death.

Will (extract) in which Catarina Gil and Jorge Lopes establish pious charges for their souls and for other family members in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa. They refer to the masses they were already fulfilling for the souls of Afonso Eanes "Cazambuco", João Gil and Beatriz Pires, who were Catarina Gil’s great-grandfather, father and mother respectively. The couple entails the pious obligations to three orchards they had in Várzea, referring that part of those orchards were already obligated to the pious charges instituted by Catarina’s mother Beatriz Pires, in her will. After the testators’ death, these properties would be bequeathed to their daughter Juliana Landim, with the pious obligations. They establish in detail the conditions and the pious charges the administrators of this property should have and they detail the options of succession. After Juliana Landim, their goddaughter Juliana Raposo, Brás Raposo’s daughter or a relative of Catarina’s father João Gil should succeed, passing the administration preferably to the older sons.

She was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, giving 100 "alqueires de trigo" and using the rents of his "herdade" in Machede, on the outskirts of Évora. This entail should be succeeded by her eldest son or, in his absence, by a daughter.

Will (extract) by which Manuel Malheiro expresses his wish to be buried next to his first wife, D. Isabel Fernandes, and to his second wife, D. Maria Malheiro de Melo, his niece, in the chapels of Santo António and Nossa Senhora da Conceição of the cathedral of Lisboa. He confirms the institution of an entail which he had established with his first wife in a previous will, entailing to it all his properties in Azambuja, Lisboa and Corroios. He appoints as his heir António Malheiro, his second son from his second marriage, since his first born son from this marriage, José Malheiro de Melo, had died during the writing of the will. His son shall marry one of his cousins, daughter of Gaspar Malheiro, Manuel Malheiro's brother. He establishes an obligation of two daily masses for his own soul and the souls of his two wives. He also explains that he received the two chapels he now possesses from the deão António or Afonso Furtado de Mendonça, who had donated them under the condition that he should build him a tomb in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição and order a weekly mass for his soul.

Will (extract) by which D. Ana Maria establishes an entail with her third part, which must be used to buy public debt instruments. She establishes an obligations of 100 masses and one divine office in her chapel in the cathedral of Lisboa, where she wishes to be buried. She appoints her son, Francisco Malheiro, as her heir, bequeathing the usufruct of her properties to her husband, Gaspar Malheiro, until their son marries. If their lineage becomes extinct, the entail shall be administered by the Misericórdia de Lisboa or by the Ordem Terceira de S. Francisco.

Will (extract) by which D. Leonor de Meneses established a chapel in the convent of S. Agostinho of Santarém, entailing to it all her properties in Santarém as well as her farmstead ("quinta do Paraíso") and determining that its revenues should support the celebration of 5 daily perpetual masses and sustain 5 poor people every year. She designated her nephew, D. Pedro, son of the Condessa de Vila Real, D. Beatriz de Meneses, to administrate it, obligating him to use her father's family name and coat of arms. During his minority, the entail would be administrated by his mother.
D. Leonor de Meneses ordered the executors of her will to build two graves in that convent where her remains and those of her father, D. Pedro de Meneses, Conde de Viana, would be deposited. She also asked them to deliver to the heirs of her sister, D. Isabel, assets that were granted to her by the Regent, D. Pedro. If he did not authorize that, the executors had to wait for 2 years and then institute a chapel with those properties. It would be administrated by D. Afonso, D. Isabel and D. Fernando's son, who would have to support the celebration of 5 daily perpetual masses in that convent and provide for 5 poor people.

Will (extract) by which Maria de Abreu Faria ordered her eldest son, José Correia de Abreu, to buy a public debt instrument or properties with the third part of her assets and to use its revenues to support the celebration of a perpetual daily mass for her soul and for the soul of her husband, Filipe Correia, in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa, where her body would be buried. The chapel should be administrated by him during his lifetime and, at the time of his death, inherited by his eldest son.

Will (extract) by which Antónia de Almada established an entail, with the obligation to order the celebration of two masses in the Convent of São Romão de Alverca for her mother's soul. She also established the celebration of two more masses in the Monastery of Amparo, where she would be buried. The administrator was also obligated to give some wine and oil to the friars of this last Monastery. The successors were obligated to incorporate into this entail 100 000 réis. This entail is composed of a farm of Alfarrrobeira and houses in Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which João Alves da Fonseca, mestre de campo, established an entail, designating his nephew Jorge de Sousa da Costa to be its first administrator. He left to João, son of João Alves Coutinho and his wife Dona Catarina de Vilhena, his farm called "Soutos" and other rents on the outskirts of Santarém, with the condition to return to Jorge de Sousa da Costa's successors after his death. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses in a privileged altar wherever he wanted and to give some legacies to the nuns of the family. If Jorge de Sousa da Costa died without heirs, it should succeed the heirs of his brother João da Costa.

Will (extract) by which Pedro Correia designates his niece, Maria de Serpa, daughter of his sister Antónia Ribeiro, as his universal heir, bequeathing her all of his properties as an entail, with the obligation of two daily masses in the chapel of the congregation of Jesus, Maria, José in the church of S. Roque of Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried. After Maria de Serpa's death, the entail shall pass to his other niece, Maria Egipcíaca Correia. If she dies without heirs, the entail will pass to the lineage of their deceased brother, Fernando Lopes de Serpa, but only if his heirs, who live in India, return to Portugal. He also designates the chaplains who will pray the masses in his chapel: Simão de Novais Teixeira and João de Oliveira, and their immediate successors.

Will (extract) by Estêvão de Brito Freire in which he ordered, among other dispositions, the foundation of an entail composed of several assets in Lisboa, Beja and Salvador da Baía, with an obligation of a daily mass celebrated on his Chapel of S. Estêvão, located in the church of the convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus, in Lisboa, where his body should be buried. He named his son Gaspar de Brito Freire as first administrator of the entail and chapel, and after his death the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir. The administrator should keep a lamp permanently lit on the chapel, use the surname "Brito Freire" and the family coat of arms or lose the administration. Clerics and anyone who married a person of jewish or moorish ascendency should immediately lose the administrators, as well as anyone who committed lese-majeste crimes.

Will (extract) by which Fernando Lopes and his wife Leonor Afonso established an entail, incorporating the third part of their assets, which included the "herdade da Renda" and the "herdade da Brunheira", on the outskirts of Avis. They designated their son António Fernandes to be its first administrator and, after his death, his son Leonardo, grandson of the institutors.

He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, in Lisboa. This entail is composed of houses, vineyards and orchards located in Lisboa.

Will (extract) in which Antónia Falcão orders a chapel to be built in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa and expresses her wish to be buried next to her late husband, Garcia Homem. She bequeaths a set of properties to her chapel, which are listed and described, and appoints her nephew Martim Cota Falcão and the priests of the convent as administrators. Martim Cota, who is the eldest son of the testators’ brother, Gaspar Cota Falcão, would have part of the listed properties, subjected to a series of detailed conditions. He was required to fulfil pious obligations for the institutor’s soul and to pay an annual sum of 10 000 réis to the convent. The priests would receive properties near Beirolas and in Salvaterra, as well as the amount paid by Martim Cota and his descendants. These assets were to be entailed and the conditions and alternatives of their transmission are specified.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar de Magalhães and Maria da Silva, his wife, establish an entail with houses in Lisboa, a farmstead in Cumeeira, S. João da Talha, and vineyards and olive groves located on the outskirts of that city, determining that one of them should become its first administrator after the death of the other. Subsequently, the entail must be transmitted to D. Catarina Tavares, their niece, who would pass it to her eldest son. If she dies childless, it should be inherited by her sister, D. Maria da Silva. Will (extract) by which Gil de Leão expresses his wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, next to his wife, Ana da Costa. He establishes a chapel of three annual masses where his executor wishes, and a divine office in the convent of S. Francisco, entailed to his houses in rua da Betesga and Alfama, Lisboa, and foros of houses in adro da Conceição. He appoints his son, Tomás de Leão, as administrator of the entail, and his descendants afterwards, who shall add part of their thirds to it. If Tomás de Leão dies without heirs, it will be administered by his sister, Guiomar de Caminha, and her children. If there is no legitimate or illegitimate descendance, the succession shall fall to Francisca da Costa, Gil de Leão's goddaughter, daughter of Gonçalo da Costa, or to her sister, Joana, and their successors. If the whole family line is extinguished, it will be bequeathed to the Misericórdia of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Pedro da Silva, bispo do Brasil, established a chapel, designating his niece D. Micaela da Silva, daughter of his eldest brothers, to be its first administrator. The institutor wanted that all his movable goods and his houses in Bahia would be sold in order to buy others for this chapel. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses, that should be said by a chaplain. After the administrator’s death, it should succeed her son Silvério and, in his absence, another daughter of Micaela. If there were no heirs of the family, it should succeed the eldest servant, or the eldest maid of his house.

Will (extract) of António Pires Pinto appointing Diogo Homem Pinto as administrator of the chapel and ordering that all the entailed estates should be registered in an inventory.

Will (extract) in which Margarida de Leiria orders celebrations to be held over her grave in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa, on the altar of Vera Cruz. These pious charges are intended for her soul and for the souls of her husband, father and mother. To ensure that this obligation is fulfilled, she entails the houses she owns in Lisboa, near the convent of Trindade, which belong to a third of her assets. She appoints her son Lourenço de Leiria as first administrator for this chapel. In the event of his death, she specifies other alternatives among her children who are to succeed the administration in the order set out. She also determines other conditions for succession.

Will (extract) by which Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa establishes two entails for his two grandsons, António Gomes do Alemo, son of his son Jorge Gomes do Alemo, and António de Torres, son of his daughter, Isabel Henriques, and of Diogo Lopes.
He bequeaths three quarters of his engine in Baía de Todos-os-Santos to António Gomes do Alemo, with the obligation of one daily mass in his chapel of Santo Ângelo, in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. If he dies before his grandfather, the entail shall pass to his father and siblings, or, if they have no descendants, to the lineage of António de Torres. After four years, António Gomes do Alemo shall use the revenue of his entail to buy the part of the engine belonging to António de Torres and annex it to his entail. António de Torres shall buy properties to entail in its place with the revenue from this sale. If both their lineages are extinguished, the sucession shall be by appointment.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz Brandão established an entail, designating her niece Maria de Almeida to be its first administrator. She was due to order the celebration of masses for her and her husband's soul in the Convent of Santo António da Lourinhã. The institutor also established the obligation to donate money to "merceeiras" and for the oil of the candles. If her niece died without heirs, it should succeed her sister Luísa de Almeida, and if her sister died without heirs it should succeed their brother Francisco Serrão. This entail is composed of farm located in the outskirts of Torre Vedras, houses in Lisboa and a "casal" in Alenquer.

Will chart (extract) of D. Francisca de Abreu. She created a chapel, entailing a third of the assets he had inherited from Cosma Trigo, her sister, for the fulfillment of charges, celebrated in the convent of São Francisco of Alenquer. She appoints Francisco Rodrigues Trigo, her brother, the first administrator. António de Valadares, her nephew, son of Manuel da Fonseca Valadares, should succeed him.

Will chart (extract) by which Isabel Serrão, widow, entails her herdade in Pomares, Beja. She bequeaths it to her cousin, doutor João Pires, do Conselho do Rei and desembargador, and to his descendants, with the obligation of keeping a chaplain who shall pray a daily mass in the convent where she is buried. If João Pires dies before her, the entail shall be bequeathed either to her nephew, doutor Nuno Álvares, desembargador, or to her brother, Duarte Borges.

Will chart (extract) of Inês Serrão. Instituted a chapel, entailing assets to the fulfillment of charges. She appoints João Pires, her cousin, first administrator, to whom his eldest male son should succeed.

Will chart by which Beatriz Taveira, widow of Pedro da Costa, Desembargador do Rei D. Afonso V, established an entail, incorporating in it houses in Lisboa, a farmstead in Lumiar ("quinta da Torre"), lands (casal) in Monção, outskirts of Santarém, and properties in Santa Catarina. She designated her nephew, Diogo Dias, Cavaleiro da Casa do Rei, to become its first administrator, determining that him and his descendants had to support the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for her soul and the souls of her relatives in the chapel of Santa Maria of the church of S. João da Praça of that city, where her body would be buried. After the death of Diogo Dias, the entail would be inherited by his eldest son. If his lineage became extinct, the priests of S. João da Praça had to elect someone to be the entail's administrator.

Will chart by which João Rodrigues de Leão, Cavaleiro Fidalgo da Casa do Rei, establishes a chapel in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. He declares that he had previously made an agreement with its prior and friars, by which he promised to give them a public debt instrument of 24 000 réis in exchange for the celebration of annual masses for his soul and that of his wife. Nevertheless, it was still necessary to make a contract with the convent, which he urges his heirs to do. He appoints his wife, Inês Lopes, as the entail's first administrator, bequeathing her part of his assets which should be incorporated in it. He obligates her and her descendants to give, each year, 4 000 réis to that convent in order to assure the chapel's maintenance; to check the state of its ornaments; to donate 10 000 réis to the convent of S. Domingos and S. Francisco of Lisboa, each Holy Thursday. The testator allows his wife to choose one of her nephews or nieces to be her successor, as long as he/she resides in Lisboa. He demands his remains to be buried inside his chapel.
Followed by an approval deed, issued on 1582-05-17, and an opening deed, issued on 1582-05-23.

Will chart by which Frei Jerónimo da Cunha ordered the construction of a chapel in the church of Santiago of Montemor-o-Novo, entailing immovable property to fulfill the charges. He designated Diogo Narciso to be its first administrator. If this administrator died without heirs, it should succeed the institutor's daughter Beatriz if she was not professed, with the obligation to marry a nobleman with the surname "Cunha". In case of extinction of the lineage, the eldest servant of the last administrator should succeed in the administration.

Will chart of António de Almeida, ordering his grave with Maria Soares, his wife, in the church of Santiago de Cassurrães. He entails his assets in chapel and entail and appoints António Ribeiro de Almeida, his son, heir, executor and administrator. The charges were to be celebrated at the altar of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in the church of Santiago de Cassurrães.

Will chart by which Manuel de Miranda orders his executors to buy properties with his assets to entail to a chapel with the obligation of three weekly masses in the church where his body will be buried. He appoints Simão, son of his slave Ana, whom he raised, as administrator of his chapel and heir of his properties, which shall pass, afterwards, to his descendants. As Simão is a minor, he shall live in the house of one of his executors, be educated by them and be married to a noble woman. If Simão doesn't have heirs, or dies, the administration of his properties shall be given to Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa one of the executors, if he is still alive, but only during his lifetime. After Diogo's death, two thirds of those properties shall be given to Guiomar de Miranda, sister of the institutor, or to her descendants, and another third shall be given to one of Manuel's nieces, daughter of Catarina de Miranda, another of his sisters who is already deceased. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1576-12-01 and an opening deed issued on 1577-12-26.

Will chart made by Jorge Caldeira Tavares in which he ordered the foundation of an entail composed of an estate named Herdade da Reterta and other estates in Portalegre's outskirts, over which he imposed a perpetual pious obligation of three masses celebrated every year. To administrate it he named his son Diogo Caldeira during his lifetime, and, after his death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir, or, if he had none, on the closest relative. Clerics and illegitimate sons were excluded from the administration, as well as any administrator convicted with lese-majesty crimes.

Will chart by which Pedro de Paiva expresses his wish to be buried in the church of the Misericórdia of Lisboa, where his parents are buried, whilst his burial place isn't ready. He entails the third part of his assets, which he bequeaths to his son, António de Paiva, with the obligation of three annual masses in the altar closest to his tomb.
Followed by an approval deed and an opening deed of the will, dated 1594-11-03.

Will chart by which Margarida Dias, António Carvalho's widow, establishes an entail with houses in Lisboa and a public debt instrument of 9 500 réis in Casa da Índia, bequeathing it to her stepdaughter, Maria Dias, who was asked to support the celebration of annual masses in the church of Santa Justa of Lisboa.
The testator bequeaths part of her patrimony, including lands, houses and a public debt instrument of 30 000 réis in Alfândega de Lisboa, to André Dias Carvalho, her stepson, with the obligation of celebrating annual masses in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She also asks him to ensure that the pious obligations instituted by her late sister, Beatriz Dias, in the church of Santa Justa, are duly fulfilled each year. Margarida declares that her remains should be buried in the main chapel of that church, where her husband's body lies.

Will through which Doutor Gaspar Vaz Rebelo, Desembargador do Paço, establishes two entails, with the assets he owned in Lisboa and Évora, appointing his two sons, Francisco Rebelo and Manuel Vaz Rebelo, as first administrators of those institutions. If neither of them survived, or had descendants, both of the entails would be inherited by Gaspar de Figueira, the testator's nephew. He instituted pious obligations of celebrating annual masses in the chapel of Jesus, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa, and in his chapel, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Évora. He chooses to be temporarily buried in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. After his flesh disappeared, his bones should be transferred to the grave he had inside his chapel, in the convent of S. Domingos of Évora.

Will chart by which Guiomar Rebelo expresses her wish to be buried in the tomb of her husband, Baltasar Ribeiro, in the church of the convent of São Francisco of Lisboa. She entails 30 000 reis of interest and bequeaths them to her cousin, Mécia Cardoso, wife of Manuel de Beça, with the obligation of an annual mass on Christmas day and another on every holiday of the Virgin. She also appoints D. Josefa Rebelo, daughter of D. Maria de Gouveia, her niece, and of Valentim da Costa, as her universal heir, establishing another entail with a weekly mass.

Will chart by which Francisco de Alva Brandão founded three entails. The first one was composed of the farmsteads of Santa Catarina and Pontafigo, in the island of São Tomé, and was to be administered by his brother, Mateus de Alva, who should be succeeded by his son, Francisco. The second one had an obligation of annual masses in the convent of Capuchos, in Castelo de Vide, and was to be administered by Roque Nunes Barradas, the institutor's brother-in-law, who should be succeeded by his wife, Violante Brandão, sister of the institutor, and by their eldest son. The third one would also have an obligation of masses in Castelo de Vide and would be administered by Violante Brandão, and afterwards by one of her sons or daughter, who would be chosen by appointment.

Will chart by which D. Afonso de Castelo Branco, Meirinho-mor do Reino, and his wife, D. Isabel de Castro, established an entail with the third part of their assets, which included houses in Évora, determining that it should be annexed to the entail instituted by D. Guiomar de Noronha ("morgado de Montalvo") and administrated by their eldest son. Therefore, it would be transmitted according to the clauses of its foundation deed. However, if they were unable of bearing a son, their entail would not be attached to the one founded by Guiomar de Noronha. Instead it would be administrated by the institutor's eldest daughter, D. Maria de Castro, and her husband, D. Garcia de Meneses, and transmitted to their descendants. They also incorporated a tapestry in their entail and a rent (foro) of wheat taken from a property in Serpa to Guiomar de Noronha's entail, which they administrated. They declared that their bodies would be buried in the main chapel of the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Moura. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1556-08-25.

Will chart of Pedro Eanes do Canto founding, among other dispositions, two entails, one for his son António Pires, born of his first marriage with Joana da Barca, and the other for his son João da Silva, born of his second marriage with Violante da Silva. For the first entail he entailed several properties in the islands of São Jorge, Pico and Faial, and a estate named Quinta de São Pedro, with a perpetual mass obligation of a weekly mass in the church of N. Sra. de Nazaré built on the same state, where a monument in his homenage should be built declaring that he participated on the battles of Arzila, Azamor, Afnul, Benegisna, in Persia and Almedina. For the second entail he entailed several properties in Terceira island, in Cabo da Praia, mount Brasil and a state in Lajes, also with a perpetual mass obligation with a weekly mass preached on the chapel of Jesus, that he was building in the main church of Angra. Both the entails had identical obligations, and António Pires should choose which one he would have, and João da Silva should have the other one. Both should be succeeded by their eldest sons, preferably male, and each administrator should annex 2/3 of his own reserved portion (terça) to the entail. The administrators should also use the surname "do Canto" or lose the administration. He also appoints Francisco da Silva, his illegitimate son, to succeed him on the administration of the chapel founded by Vasco Afonso, vicar of Machico, island of Madeira.

Will chart of João Vieira Matoso. Establishes an entail, entailing assets, including a relic of Saint Francis Xavier and a chapel, located in the church of Cotovia. He designates Francisco Vieira Matoso, his son, as first administrator. The succession had to be done in accordance with the “law of regular entails”.

Will chart of Jorge de Sousa de Alvim, ordering his grave in the hermitage of Santo António, which he had built at his Quinta de Pedrógão, on the outskirts of Torres Novas. He establishes an entail and chapel, entailing all his assets, located in the Quinta de Pedrógão and on the outskirts of Torres Novas and Porto de Mós. He appoints Manuel de Sousa de Alvim, his son, executor and first administrator, to be succeded by his eldest male son. In case of extinction of the lineage, the administration would pass to the monastery of São Martinho de Tibães.
He establishes another entail and chapel, entailing a farm, located in Seiça, on the outskirts of Ourém. He appoints Simão de Sousa de Alvim, his son, first administrator. The charges were to be celebrated in the church of Seiça. The same clauses had to be fulfilled for the institution of the entail of the Quinta de Pedrógão.
He establishes another entail and chapel, entailing grain income, in the amount of 100.000 réis, coming from Alfeizerão. He appoints Pedro de Melo de Sousa, his son, first administrator. The charges were to be celebrated in the church of Alfeizerão. The same clauses had to be fulfilled for the institution of the entail of the Quinta de Pedrógão.
He establishes another chapel, entailing a farm, located in Vila Verde, in the municipality of Vila Chã, on the outskirts of Braga. He appoints Henrique de Sousa de Alvim, his son, first administrator. The charges were to be celebrated in the church of São Paio of Vila Verde. The same clauses had to be fulfilled for the institution of the entail of the Quinta de Pedrógão.

They now entail those properties as a chapel and appoint Maria Tomé, as the first administrator. A daughter was to succeed her, with females taking precedence in administration.
They institute another entail with properties located in the outskirts of Prado which shall be used to purchase olive oil and wax for the Santíssimo Sacramento of the convent of São Francisco of Azurara. They appoint Maria Carneiro as the first administrator, to be succeeded by her daughter, Ana.
They also institute a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora, on the altar of Piedade in the Convent of São Francisco de Azurara, and appoint Justa as the first administrator, to be succeded by one of her children.

Will chart by which Guiomar Rebelo wanted to be buried in the tomb of her husband Baltasar Ribeiro, in the church of the Convent of São Francisco de Lisboa. She founded a chapel in this church, incorporating a farm on the outskirts of Torres Vedras. The institutor designated Josefa Rebelo, daughter of Maria de Gouveia, niece of the institutor, to be its first administrator. She also bequeathed to her cousin Mécia Cardoso, wife of Manuel de Beça, a public debt instrument, establishing another entail.

Will chart by which Cristóvão Ferreira Lobo and his wife D. Joana Henriques incorporated some assets to the entail founded by Heitor Henriques Sacoto and Joana Henriques and designated Diogo Ferreira Lobo to be its administrator. This entail should be succeeded by his eldest son.

Will chart by which Catarina de Sena Pereira expresses her wish to be buried in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa where her daughter, Antónia de Sena Pereira, is buried. She establishes an entail with the third part of her assets, taken from houses near the church Nossa Senhora da Vitória, in Lisboa, with the obligation of an annual mass in that convent. She designates her daughter, Mariana Marques, as first administrator. Her eldest male son was to succeed her. In case of extinction of the lineage, the administration passed to the oldest servant of the last administrator.

Will chart by which Luísa Tavares expresses her wish to be buried in the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the church of Santo Adrião da Póvoa. She entails her properties in Lisboa and Alenquer with an obligation of 100 masses to be prayed in that chapel by the Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento. She appoints António Ribeiro, her husband, as first administrator, to be succeeded by desembargador Francisco de Carvalho, or by his daughter, Joana de Carvalho, and their successors afterwards.

Will chart of Álvaro Saraiva da Gama, ordering his grave in the convent of São Francisco of Caria. He had a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, with a chaplain, where he leaves certain charges, such as in the Franciscan convents of Caria, Vilares and São João da Pesqueira and in the churches of São Pelágio of Vila da Rua and Espírito Santo of Carregal. He leaves three properties to fulfill the charges in the convents and churches and entails the others in a chapel, with head in Quinta do Ribeiro and in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, located on that farm. He appoints Francisco Pereira de Almeida, his nephew, executor, heir and administrator.

Will chart of Nuno Martins Segurado. He leaves the Cruzeiro de Alagoa's farm, on the outskirts of Arruda dos Vinhos, and several other assets, to Helena Martins Segurado, his daughter, with associated charges. He leaves the Lagoa's farm, and several other assets, to João Martins Segurado, his son, with associated charges.

Will chart of padre Luís de Figueiroa de Vasconcelos Castelo Branco, by which he orders his grave in the monastery of São Francisco do Porto and entails several farmhouses (casais), located in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, to fulfill charges. He appoints António de Figueiroa, as first administrator of his entail, to be succeeded by his eldest son. He annexes this entail to the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, located in the church of São Pedro de Miragaia, established by Bárbara Pires de Figueiroa.

Will chart made by Bernardo da Fonseca de Castelo Branco, in which he confirms the clauses and conditions of the previous will chart, made with Isabel Zuzarte, his wife, now deceased. He also clarifies some aspects of succession.

Will made by António Zuzarte de Sousa, in which he establishes an entail with the fourth parts left by his parents in their wills, with his own part and the part of his sister, Beatriz de Velez. The entail will have an obligation of two annual masses in the convent of São Francisco of Portalegre. He designates Manuel, his son, as first administrator, to be succeded by his descendants.

From there on the succession shall continue, preferably, on the closest male relative of the institutor.

Will chart of Tristão Vaz da Veiga, of the Conselho do Rei, son de Manuel Cabral da Veiga, and Geral das Causas da Guerra na ilha da Madeira. He establishes an entail with his properties in Lisboa and Graciosa, Açores, and appoints his eldest son, Jerónimo da Veiga, as his universal heir and administrator of the entail. He establishes an obligation of a daily mass and one annual mass in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where his successors can build a tomb for themselves, with 20 000 reis of alms. If he doesn't have any descendants, the entail shall pass to her other nephew, Manuel Homem, or to his sister, Mécia Fialho, children of Luís Homem.

Will chart by which Antónia Carneiro, wife of Álvaro de Valadares, established an entail with the third part of her assets, including houses in Praça da Ribeira. She determined that its revenues would support the celebration of 2 annual masses in the church where her body would be buried, which would be chosen by her husband. The testator appointed her son, Pantaleão Carneiro, to administrate it, obligating him to give 2 annual pensions of 2 500 réis to his sisters, nuns in the convent of Santa Clara, during their lifetime. If Pantaleão decided to become a priest or died without leaving offspring, the entail would be transmitted to his brother, Fernando Valadares.

Will chart by which Inácia de Sequeira expresses her wish to be buried in the convent of São Francisco of Lisboa. She establishes an entail with the third part of her assets, and an obligation of 100 annual masses in that convent. Manuel da Gama de Pádua, her husband, shall chose the properties to entail, and can add clauses to the institution. She gives him the faculty to appoint the son or daughter he wishes to succeed him. If he doesn't appoint anyone, their son António da Gama will succeed, and then his eldest son. If he has no descendants, the entail shall be given to his brother, Fernando Soeiro, and his successors.
