Will (extract) by which Álvaro Antunes do Varejão entails the third part of his assets to the entail previously established by his late wife, Inês de Abreu, appointing his son, Francisco Álvares, to be its first administrator. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Lisboa, where his parents' bodies would be buried. This entail is composed of a farm, an olive grove and lands in Lisboa.
The testator also orders his son to buy a rent (foro) with the annual worth of 1000 réis, which should support the celebration of masses each year in the church of S. Nicolau of that city and guarantee the maintenance of the grave where are deposited his grandparents' remains, Francisco Alves and Isabel Antunes, located in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of that church.

Will (extract) by which Vicente Rodrigues Castelão declares that, following the death of Joana de Almeida, he married Filipa Monteiro and divided the chapel he had established with his late wife in two parts. Maria de Sá, Joana de Almeida's niece, was appointed to administer her aunt's share. The testator decides to leave his share to Filipa Monteiro, who is obligated to celebrate 2 weekly masses for his soul in the church of the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo. After her death, Fernando da Cunha should inherit the chapel and transmit it to Ana Catarina da Cunha, his daughter.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz Eanes asks to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where her father-in-law, Rui Dias do Pao, is buried. She establishes an entail with her part of the herdade do Bussalfão, Évora, which shall be inherited by her husband, João Rodrigues do Pao, and, after his death, by their eldest son, Rui Dias. If he dies without descendants, it shall be inherited by one of their other sons, João Rodrigues or Diogo Afonso.

Will (extract) by which Luís de Almeida de Vasconcelos orders, among other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel in the Igreja da Misericórdia de Lisboa, dedicated to Espírito Santo, entailing to it a sugar-mill, named Laranjeiras, and two farmsteads, named Barra Funda and Boa Vista, in the island of São Tomé, and the donatary captaincy and Alcaidaria-Mor of the island of Ano Bom, with cotton farms and more than 250 african slaves. He appoints his cousin D. Maria de Almeida to be the first administrator, but only if his wife D. Simoa, had no children of his own. He orders that 20 000 cruzados should be given to the Misericórdia de Lisboa in order to pay for the ransom of portuguese captives in Africa.

He establishes a chapel in the same convent, entailing to it the third part of his inheritance, set on a public debt instrument in the Casa das Imposições de Vinho, with the obligation of one weekly mass. He appoints his daughter, D. Bárbara, as the entail's first administrator, and her successors after her death. The remains of his assets shall be used to buy properties for the chapel.

Will (extract) by which Brás Figueira Lobo and his wife, Filipa de Almada, establish an entail. They unite the third parts of their assets, the money entailed to the chapel of Brás Figueira Lobo's parents, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, and a farmstead in Alvalade, entailed to the chapel of Isabel Lobato, in S. Pedro de Alfama. They establish an obligation of 25 masses in S. Francisco of Lisboa, where they shall be buried, and one in S. Pedro de Alfama: 15 for the soul of Brás Figueira Lobo's father, ten for their own souls and one for the soul of Isabel Lobato.

She and her descendants were obligated to support the celebration of 5 annual masses in honour of the five holy wounds. After her death, she would be succeeded by António, her son.
He also left Guiomar Domingues his houses on Rua das Carniças [?] and a vegetable garden (horta) near Fonte da Rala with the obligation of celebrating 2 perpetual annual masses for his soul.
The testator instituted another chapel with an olive grove near the road to Espinhaço da Cabra, a rent (foro) of 1 200 réis in a vegetable garden near Fonte da Rala and a rent of 900 réis in houses located on Olivença. He chose his grandson, João, to administrate it, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 2 annual masses for the souls of the institutor's parents, João Sobrinho and Teresa Vaz. If João died without heirs, the chapel would be administrated by António, Guiomar Domingues' son, or his offspring.

João of Raiva, during his lifetime. After Gabriel da Fonseca's death, the properties left to him and to her niece shall be united and given to Ana da Fonseca's great-niece, D. Guiomar, D. Will (extract) by which António Gomes, escrivão da chancelaria da Casa da Suplicação, establishes an entail with his houses in Lisboa, parish of S. Nicolau. He bequeaths them to his cousin, Martinho Ferreira, whom he raised, with the obligation of two masses in his and his son's memory in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. After the death of Martinho Ferreira, the entail shall be inherited by his eldest son, Doutor António Ferreira, and by his sucessors. The administrators were obliged to use the surname of Tinoco and to ensure the perpetual celebration of 20 masses each year.

He bequeaths them to his son, Bartolomeu Leitão, who should extract 5 200 réis from the houses' revenues to maintain the pious obligations in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. If the 5 200 réis were not enough to support the two weekly masses, the heir was only obligated to support the celebration of the number of annual masses which that amount of money could maintain.

Her heiress will have the faculty of appointing the next administrator. If she doesn't appoint anyone, the entail shall pass to the eldest child of her niece, D. Ana Barbosa. Will (extract) made by Manuel Fidalgo da Costa and his wife Beatriz da Veiga Spínola, in which they have ordered the foundation of an entail with their lands in Covada, with a perpetual pious obligation of two sung masses, as long as the world lasted, with bread and wine offer over their graves in All Souls Day. They named padre Florêncio da Veiga Escórcio to administrate the entail during his lifetime, and, after his death, the administration would be handled to Helena, his natural daughter. From there on, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest heir. They also asked the Cabido to surveil the fulfillment of this will.

Will (extract) made by Isabel Correia Tavares, in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel composed of a farm named Fragoso and twenty five enslaved persons, over which she imposed a perpetual pious obligation of six sung masses every year.She named Pedro Fernandes Alfange and his wife Isabel Correia as first administrators during their lifetimes, and, after their deaths, they would be succeeded by their eldest heir, male or female. If they died without children, the administration would be handled to Maria Tavares with the same condition. The institutor disposed that if any of the entailed slaves died, they should be replaced for another one, in order to always maintain twenty five serving on the chapel.

Will (extract) in which Justa Vaz’s brother establishes entails for his children: Duarte, Martinho and Isabel de Castro do Rio, some of which are funded by money left by his sister. He declares that Justa Vaz appointed him as her universal heir, giving him the usufruct of her assets, during his lifetime, and ordering him to transmit them to one of his children or to divide them among them, forming entails. From the money she left, he thus bequeaths 8 000 cruzados to this daughter Isabel and 12 000 cruzados to his son Duarte de Castro do Rio, to found two entails. If their lineages are extinguished these entails shall be annexed to the entail he founded for his eldest son, Martinho de Castro do Rio, with the same conditions. He also bequeaths 40 000 cruzados to Martinho de Castro do Rio, which shall be annexed to the entail he founded for him. Martinho de Castro do Rio must also buy properties to entail to the obligation of masses established in Justa Vaz's codicil, which shall be administered by the successors of his entail.

Will (extract) by which Maria Pereira established an entail, appointing her husband Manuel Lobo de Melo to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses and to light a candle in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Lisboa. After their death, the entail should be administrated by João Freire, Catarina’s brother, and then passed to his eldest son. The pious charges should be accomplished in the church of Colares, where the testators had their burial place and in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa, where Simão Freire, João Freire’s brother, had his. The testators order the inventory of the entail’s properties in a tombo, with a copy staying with the entail’s administrator and the other with the Confraria do Santíssimo Sacramento. They add that the masses in the church of Colares should be said by a son of Catarina’s uncle Manuel Brás if he becomes a clergyman.

She bequeaths a set of properties to her chapel, which are listed and described, and appoints her nephew Martim Cota Falcão and the priests of the convent as administrators. Martim Cota, who is the eldest son of the testators’ brother, Gaspar Cota Falcão, would have part of the listed properties, subjected to a series of detailed conditions. He was required to fulfil pious obligations for the institutor’s soul and to pay an annual sum of 10 000 réis to the convent. The priests would receive properties near Beirolas and in Salvaterra, as well as the amount paid by Martim Cota and his descendants. These assets were to be entailed and the conditions and alternatives of their transmission are specified.

Second, she bequeaths her sister two stores in Lisboa, with another obligation of two annual masses. After her sister's death, they shall pass to her niece, D. Isabel. Third, she orders 2 000 réis of masses in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, entailed to a lease in Nossa Senhora dos Olivais, of which her brother, padre Frei Vicente, shall have the usufruct during his lifetime, and which shall pass after his death to D. Ana, their niece, with the same obligation. If one of her nieces dies without successors, the other two can inherit their entails.
