Will (extract) by which Margarida Pires declared that all her movable and immovable assets should be usufruct by her sister Teresa Pires Chaínho, who could leave them, after her death, to her son in the form of a chapel, with the obligation to celebrate the masses in the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Moura. This entail is composed of houses in Moura.

Will (extract) by which Isabel Vaz bequeaths an orchard and houses in Lumiar to Simão Gonçalves and his wife, Beatriz Lopes, obligating them and their heirs to support the celebration of 8 annual masses for her soul in the church of São João Batista of Lumiar. After the death of both of them, the entail must be inherited by their eldest son. The entailed properties could never be sold.

Will (extract) by which Guiomar Galvão expresses her wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, in the chapel of the Ordem Terceira. She bequeaths it to João Rodrigues, her heir, and to his descendants. If his descendance is extinguished, it shall be bequeathed to the Irmandade da Ordem Terceira of S. Will (extract) made in Santiago, Cabo Verde, by Leonor da Costa in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of one mass celebrated in every week as long as the world lasted and also three masses in All Saints Day, two of them sung with bread and wine offer, for her soul and for the ones of her husband Pedro Fidalgo de Andrade and their daughter Catarina de Andrade. The masses should be celebrated by the Cabido of Praia. For this, the administrator should receive a salary worth 10.000 réis in every year. To administrate it, she named her granddaughter Madalena de Andrade, daughter of Tomé Fidalgo, during her lifetime and, after her death, the succession should always continue on the eldest heir, male or female. If Madalena died without children, the administration would be handled with the same conditions, in this order, to her sister Isabel, her brother Pedro or to the daughter of André Bruto do Lago. The institutor disposed that farms she entailed should be always benefited with the plantation of new trees. The will should also be registrated in the record keeping books of the chapels, probably the one which served on the Cabido, for her memory.

Will (extract) made by Iria Pires in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel, of the invocation of Santa Vera Cruz, with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in the church of Santo Antão of Évora. She appointed João Domingues and his wife Catarina Lourenço to be the first administrators during their lifetime and, after their death, they shall be succeeded by Constança Eanes. After her death, she shall be succeeded by her eldest son, whether male or female.

Will (extract) by which Luís Carneiro da Silva established an entail, giving to his niece Josefa, daughter of his sister Teresa de Jesus and her husband Manuel Lopes, 3 000 cruzados and other movable goods with the obligation to celebrate three masses for his soul. It should succeed her heirs but, if she died childless, it should succeed her father.

Will (extract) by which Luísa de Padilha established a chapel in the church of S. Julião of Lisboa, determining that its administrators had to support the celebration of annual masses for her soul. She designated her nephew, Luís de Padilha, to become the chapel's first administrator. He designated his son Francisco Xavier da Serra to be its first administrator, with the obligation to order the celebration of masses for his, his wife and his parents' soul. Will (extract) by which Padre Baltasar Gorjão established an entail with lands in Turcifal, Torres Vedras, and houses next to the Chafariz dos Cavalos, Lisboa. He determined that it had to be inherited by the eldest daughter of its first administrator and transmitted to her female descendants. The entail's future administrators were obligated to support the celebration of 25 annual masses for the testator's soul in the church of S. Miguel of Alfama, where his body would be buried.

Will (extract) by which Isabel de Castilho established a chapel of perpetual daily masses, which would be celebrated in the chapel of Espírito Santo of the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto of Lisboa, for her soul and for the souls of her husband, Diogo de Sá, and her daughter. The entail would be transmitted to the son or daughter of her heir. She incorporated in it all her assets, leaving to the discretion of her heir whether the farm she owned in Cinco Ribeiras, S. Tomé, should be sold and the sale's profit used in the acquisition of properties in the kingdom or not. She also declared that she owned another land in Catujal. The chapel's administrator was obligated to maintain it and to preserve its altarpiece, textiles and ornaments.

Will (extract) by which Henrique Rodrigues de Lisboa bequeathed a farmstead (quinta) in Vale de Freiras to Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa, his brother, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 11 annual masses for his soul in the church of Misericórdia of Lisboa. After his death, the entail would be transmitted to his eldest son. If Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa died childless, the entail would be passed to Manuel Rodrigues Lamego, the institutor's other brother.

Will (extract) by which Martinho Lourenço established an entail using his third, appointing his son Amador Lourenço to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Chapel of Espírito Santo in Bucelas. This entail is composed of land located in "Serra do Alrrote", with its olive groves. By the death of his son Amador, these obligations could pass to whomever he wanted, but always the eldest son.

Will (extract) by which António Vieira establishes a chapel with his properties in Oeiras. He appoints his natural son, João, as his universal heir, if he is still living, under the condition that he allows the entailment of his legitime and orders 15 annual masses in the church of Oeiras and a divine office in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. If his son doesn't accept these conditions or if he is already deceased, the entail shall pass to Baltasar da Rocha, António Vieira's brother, and to his descendants with an obligation of seven masses and one divine office in the same churches. Will (extract) by which Fernando de Palma reserves 500 000 réis of his revenue to buy properties in Lisboa or Castille which will be entailed with an obligation of masses in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried. The revenue from this entail shall be divided by five of his poorest relatives, who shall be chosen by his son, Luís Ferreira, and his cousin Francisco de Lucena, and by the descendants of his son, afterwards. The administration of the properties and entail shall pass to the descendants of Luís Ferreira. If he doesn't have any, it shall pass to the doutor Gonçalo de Santa Cruz or to Diogo Martins, and to his descendants, who are appointed patrons of the entail, and shall help in its administration.

Will (extract) by which Diogo Lopes and his wife, Francisca Rodrigues, entail their third parts with an obligation of two weekly masses in the church of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa and of giving alms to the confraria of Nossa Senhora da Piedade of that monastery, who shall surveil the maintenance of the obligations. If Antónia de Paiva dies without successors, the entail shall pass to Margarida Antunes, sister of Ana Antunes, and to her children.

Will (extract) by which Leonor Francesa declares she had bequeathed her nephew, Duarte de Castro, son of her sister Beatriz Vaz, her farmstead in Oeiras and her houses in Lisboa, as an entail, with an obligation of marrying two orphans every year and ordering two divine offices annually in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, one for her soul and the other for the soul of her sister Joana Francesa. She had made this donation as an entail in a deed dated 1566-05-22. As her nephew had died, she afterwards donated her entail to Duarte's son, Diogo de Castro, when he was still minor, in 1583-08-11. She confirms this donation and declares that the entail shall pass to his descendants with the same obligation of masses.

Will (extract) by which Matias Gonçalves Paz and his wife Mariana Correia established an entail with the obligation to order celebration of masses wherever the administrator wanted. They designated Manuel Gonçalves Campelo to be its first administrator and, after his death, this entail should be succeeded by his eldest son. After their daughter's death it should succeed her eldest son but, if she died childless, it should succeed their closest kin.

She was due to order the celebration of masses in the Monastery of São Domingos, using the rents of some houses located in Lisboa. After her death, it should succeed in this entail her niece's brother António Fernandes, ourives. The institutor also declared that she wanted to establish another entail, designating another niece called Beatriz Fernandes, wife of Afonso Pires, escrivão de almotaçaria, with the same obligation to celebrate masses in the Monastery of São Domingos using the rents of some houses. This obligation should always be transmitted to the eldest sons.

She also bequeaths to D. Úrsula a lease with an obligation of four annual masses for the soul of the daughter of her nurse, also buried in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, who had bequeathed them to her with that condition.

He entails assets to fulfill charges and appoints priest João Pacheco, his brother, and Alexandre Pacheco Coelho, his nephew, as administrators. The eldest son of Alexandre Pacheco Coelho was to succeed him.

Will chart of D. Manuel de Moura Manuel. Establishes a chapel or entail, entailing goods. He appoints Henrique de Moura Manuel, his nephew, as administrator, with his legitimate descendants to succeed him and establishes the celebration of charges in his church of Nossa Senhora da Penha de França.

The entail shall pass to the firstborn sons, but if any descendant is a cleric, he will have priority in the administration. Will chart by which Catarina Gonçalves, Vasco Esteves' widow, establishes an entail with houses in Lisboa and lands in Charneca, appointing her brother, Fernando Gonçalves, to be its first administrator. The latter and his descendants are obligated to support the celebration of annual masses for her soul in church of the convent of Santíssima Trindade of that city, where the testator's body should be buried next to her daughter's remains. Will chart by which Beatriz Taveira, widow of Pedro da Costa, Desembargador do Rei D. Afonso V, established an entail, incorporating in it houses in Lisboa, a farmstead in Lumiar ("quinta da Torre"), lands (casal) in Monção, outskirts of Santarém, and properties in Santa Catarina. She designated her nephew, Diogo Dias, Cavaleiro da Casa do Rei, to become its first administrator, determining that him and his descendants had to support the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for her soul and the souls of her relatives in the chapel of Santa Maria of the church of S. João da Praça of that city, where her body would be buried. After the death of Diogo Dias, the entail would be inherited by his eldest son. If his lineage became extinct, the priests of S. João da Praça had to elect someone to be the entail's administrator.

Will chart of Vitória de Sousa Furtado, widow of Manuel da Câmara de Sousa, bequeathing her available portion to her only son, Manuel da Câmara de Sousa, and his descendants with the pious obligation of a perpetual novena and the three masses of Christmas for her soul.

Will chart by which Baltasar Mendes dos Reis wanted to be buried in the Monastery of São Francisco de Évora, where his father Manuel Gomes de Melo was buried. He founded the chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Reis dos Presos da Praça, in Évora, designating his illegitimate son Francisco de Melo to be its administrator. He also designated him to be the administrator of the Quinta de Santo António, in Pêra Manca, of which he was the current administrator.

Will chart of Padre Belchior Rodrigues Teixeira bequeathing a vineyard to Paulo Pacheco, his nephew, and his heirs with the pious obligation of ten annual and perpetual prayed masses, in the main church of Ribeira Grande. He also appoints his niece, Úrsula da Rocha, as his successor in the land of his grandmother's, Catarina Dias, available portion, which is entailed to a half of a chapel, per year.

Will chart by which D. Paula de Ataíde wanted to be buried in the church of Santa Maria de Estremoz. She entails the third part of her assets, which included the "herdade da Amieira",in order to fulfil the pious charges. She designated her son Duarte de Ataíde to be its first administrator. The administrator could nominate any son or grandson he wanted to succeed him and, afterwards, it should always succeed the eldest son oh his decendents.

Will chart of D. Catarina da Costa, widow of Luís da Silva, bequeathing the remaining of her available portion to her son or daughter with the pious obligation of a daily mass for her and her husband's souls, celebrated in the chapel where her husband is buried.
Will approved in 1543-11-05 and opened in 1544-05-22.

Will chart made by D. Joana in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of four masses celebrated every week in the church of Santa Maria do Crato. She appointed Simão Palha, her husband, to be the first administrator during his lifetime. The other conditions would be identical to those of the chapel established by Simão Palha and Beatriz Freire.

Will chart of Catarina Rodrigues ordering the celebration of two weekly masses entailed to her lands in Ponta Delgada and appointing her son, Jorge Martins, as administrator of these two chapels. After the death of Jorge Martins, will succeed his eldest male son.

Will chart by which Doutor Pedro Nunes de Soutomaior bequeaths all his assets to João Lourenço, his relative, obligating him and his successors to maintain two chaplains, who should celebrate annual masses for his soul and the souls of his parents in the church of Santa Maria of Oeiras and in the church of São Martinho of Sintra. He declares that, two years after his death, his remains should be transported to the church of São Martinho, where his grandfather's bones were deposited.

Will chart by which Marcos Eanes Ramudo established a chapel of invocation of São Bartolomeu in the church of São Lourenço de Alqueve, on the outskirts of Portel. She incorporated some assets to fulfill the pious charges and designated his daughter Mariana Lopes Ramudo to be its first administrator. Her eldest son or daughter should succeed in this entail.

Will chart of priest Dinis Moreira, ordering his grave in the hermitage of São Sebastião, in the place of Paço [do Lumiar]. He entails three courelas of the farm where he lived, for the fulfillment of charges, celebrated in the Cathedral of Lisbon and in the hermitage of São Sebastião. He appointed priest Pedro Álvares Moreira to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by Violante Moreira and after her death, she shall be succeeded by Maria Álvares. After death of Maria Álvares shall be succeeded by Maria and from there on the succession shall continue, preferably, on the eldest heir.

Will chart by which the priest António da Cruz Valente established an entail, incorporating some immovable goods to fulfill the pious charges in the place where he would be buried. He designated his daughter Catarina Valente to be its first administrator. Her son Estevão should succeed her.

Will chart by which Branca Lopes established an entail, incorporating all the free assets she had inherited from her husband Luís Lopes Peres, for the fulfilment of the charges celebrated in the convent of São Francisco de Évora. She designated Leonor de Horta, her husband's niece, to be its first administrator. She should succeed her eldest son or daughter.

Will chart by which Frei Jerónimo da Cunha ordered the construction of a chapel in the church of Santiago of Montemor-o-Novo, entailing immovable property to fulfill the charges. He designated Diogo Narciso to be its first administrator. If this administrator died without heirs, it should succeed the institutor's daughter Beatriz if she was not professed, with the obligation to marry a nobleman with the surname "Cunha". In case of extinction of the lineage, the eldest servant of the last administrator should succeed in the administration.

Will chart by which Sebastião Dantas wanted to be buried in the Church of São Francisco in Angra do Heroísmo. He established an entail, incorporating assets for the fulfillment of the charges in that church. He designated his wife Hilária Pimentel to be the first administrator. The administrators should rotate between them, namely João de Vasconcelos, Catarina Silva and Filipe, all sons of Filipa de Vasconcelos, niece of the institutor. Their eldest sons should succeed them.

Will chart of Luís do Rego Nobre by which he established an entail. He designated his niece Maria do Rego to be its first administrator and, if she did not have children, it should succeed the daughter of another niece of hers, Catarina do Rego. She was due to order the celebration of masses wherever she wanted. This entail is composed of some mills located in rua das Barrosas, outside the gate of Santa Catarina, in Lisboa; and a farm and orchards, located in Colares.

Will chart by which Pedro Fernandes Lamego and his wife Helena Pacheco established an entail, incorporating assets to fulfill the pious charges. Henrique Fernandes, his son, was designated to be its first administrator. His eldest son or daughter should succeed him and then it should succeed all the brothers, before passing to the next generation.

Will chart by which Manuel Moreno de Chaves ordered the purchase of a chapel in the Cathedral of Elvas or in the monastery of São Paulo of Elvas, dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Amparo, where he would be buried. He left 5 000 réis for the chapel and 50 000 réis for the celebration of the pious obligations, incorporating the remaining part of his assets, after the fulfillment of the legacies. He designated his nephew Gabriel Moreno de Chave to be its first administrator.

Will chart by which Maria Bárbara wanted to be buried in the Church of São Francisco de Portel. She established an entail in the village of Portel, incorporating assets to fulfill the pious charges. She designated her sister Catarina Mendes Barbosa to be its first administrator, and Francisco Barbosa and his eldest son should succeed her. This entail is composed of part of the "herdade do Cabouco" with its houses in Monte do Trigo; the "herdade do Jesus", in the parish of São João; the "herdade da Fornalha", in the parish of Santa Ana; and olive groves and lands in Valverde.

Will chart of Doutor Rui Gago de Andrade and Catarina de Brito, his wife. They entail assets to fulfill charges. They appoint D. Catarina, daughter of Estêvão Gago de Andrade and of D. Guiomar de Brito, their niece, as first administrator. Her eldest son was to succeed her.
