Will (extract) by which Pedro da Silva, bispo do Brasil, established a chapel, designating his niece D. Micaela da Silva, daughter of his eldest brothers, to be its first administrator. The institutor wanted that all his movable goods and his houses in Bahia would be sold in order to buy others for this chapel. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses, that should be said by a chaplain. After the administrator’s death, it should succeed her son Silvério and, in his absence, another daughter of Micaela. If there were no heirs of the family, it should succeed the eldest servant, or the eldest maid of his house.

If she did not fulfill the charges, the municipality of Beja should appoint a new administrator to do so.

Will (extract) by which Lopo Álvares Velez appointed his son, Diogo, whose mother was Francisca Dias, to become his universal heir. Diogo would be the next administrator of the chapel of S. Vicente of the church of S. Miguel of Aveiro. The testator confirmed the entailment of properties to that chapel made by his grandfather, Lopo Álvares, and determined that the entail's administration should preferably be delivered to the eldest son of his successors. He left a rent (foro) of 2 000 réis and 2 capons to his sister, Joana Ferreira, which was paid by a castilian who resided in Aveiro. After her death it had to be entailed to the chapel. His body would be buried in the chapel of S. Vicente, where his parents lied.

Will (extract) of Jacome Vaz, by which he reserved his "terça", incorporating in it the houses where he lived, located in the rua da Porta Nova, in Porto, and real estate and rents in Paiva and Feira. These possessions came with the obligation to celebrate masses in the monastery of S. Domingos do Porto. His wife, Jerónima de Oliveira, would be the executor of his will and first administrator of the entail, followed by their son. The first-born would take precedence in the succession.

Will (extract) by which D. Mariana de Paiva bequeaths 32 800 reis of interest in the Casa dos Escravos to her niece and goddaughter, D. She establishes an obligation of twelve annual masses, one each month, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She also bequeaths her niece 40 alqueires of foros in Torres Vedras with the obligation of five other masses. If D. Mariana Salema has already died at the time of her aunt's death, or doesn't have any children, the entail shall be given to one of her siblings. If their lineage is extinguished, the entail shall be annexed to her chapel of S. Romão with the same obligation.

Will (extract) by which João Fernandes, pedreiro, and his wife, Catarina Álvares, bequeath their houses in Lisboa to André Vaz, Catarina Fernandes' husband, João's niece, ordering him to sell them and to buy, with the sale's profit, a property in that city or in its outskirts. André was subsequently obligated to employ part of its revenues to support the celebration of masses for the soul of the institutors in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She bequeaths it to João Rodrigues, her heir, and to his descendants. If his descendance is extinguished, it shall be bequeathed to the Irmandade da Ordem Terceira of S. Will (extract) made in Santiago, Cabo Verde, by Leonor da Costa in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of one mass celebrated in every week as long as the world lasted and also three masses in All Saints Day, two of them sung with bread and wine offer, for her soul and for the ones of her husband Pedro Fidalgo de Andrade and their daughter Catarina de Andrade. The masses should be celebrated by the Cabido of Praia. For this, the administrator should receive a salary worth 10.000 réis in every year. To administrate it, she named her granddaughter Madalena de Andrade, daughter of Tomé Fidalgo, during her lifetime and, after her death, the succession should always continue on the eldest heir, male or female. If Madalena died without children, the administration would be handled with the same conditions, in this order, to her sister Isabel, her brother Pedro or to the daughter of André Bruto do Lago. The institutor disposed that farms she entailed should be always benefited with the plantation of new trees. The will should also be registrated in the record keeping books of the chapels, probably the one which served on the Cabido, for her memory.

Will (extract) made by Iria Pires in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel, of the invocation of Santa Vera Cruz, with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in the church of Santo Antão of Évora. She appointed João Domingues and his wife Catarina Lourenço to be the first administrators during their lifetime and, after their death, they shall be succeeded by Constança Eanes. After her death, she shall be succeeded by her eldest son, whether male or female.

Will (extract) by which Isabel de Castilho established a chapel of perpetual daily masses, which would be celebrated in the chapel of Espírito Santo of the church of Nossa Senhora do Loreto of Lisboa, for her soul and for the souls of her husband, Diogo de Sá, and her daughter. The entail would be transmitted to the son or daughter of her heir. She incorporated in it all her assets, leaving to the discretion of her heir whether the farm she owned in Cinco Ribeiras, S. Tomé, should be sold and the sale's profit used in the acquisition of properties in the kingdom or not. She also declared that she owned another land in Catujal. The chapel's administrator was obligated to maintain it and to preserve its altarpiece, textiles and ornaments.

Will (extract) by which Henrique Rodrigues de Lisboa bequeathed a farmstead (quinta) in Vale de Freiras to Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa, his brother, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 11 annual masses for his soul in the church of Misericórdia of Lisboa. After his death, the entail would be transmitted to his eldest son. If Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa died childless, the entail would be passed to Manuel Rodrigues Lamego, the institutor's other brother.

Will (extract) by which Martinho Lourenço established an entail using his third, appointing his son Amador Lourenço to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Chapel of Espírito Santo in Bucelas. This entail is composed of land located in "Serra do Alrrote", with its olive groves. By the death of his son Amador, these obligations could pass to whomever he wanted, but always the eldest son.

He appoints his natural son, João, as his universal heir, if he is still living, under the condition that he allows the entailment of his legitime and orders 15 annual masses in the church of Oeiras and a divine office in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. If his son doesn't accept these conditions or if he is already deceased, the entail shall pass to Baltasar da Rocha, António Vieira's brother, and to his descendants with an obligation of seven masses and one divine office in the same churches. Baltasar da Rocha shall take care of the properties while diligences are made to find António Vieira's son.

Will (extract) by which Fernando de Palma reserves 500 000 réis of his revenue to buy properties in Lisboa or Castille which will be entailed with an obligation of masses in the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried. The revenue from this entail shall be divided by five of his poorest relatives, who shall be chosen by his son, Luís Ferreira, and his cousin Francisco de Lucena, and by the descendants of his son, afterwards. If Luís Ferreira or Francisco de Lucena die before the institutor, the choice shall fall to his nephew, Diogo de Ferreira, and to the surviving one. The administration of the properties and entail shall pass to the descendants of Luís Ferreira. If he doesn't have any, it shall pass to the doutor Gonçalo de Santa Cruz or to Diogo Martins, and to his descendants, who are appointed patrons of the entail, and shall help in its administration.

The entail shall pass to her eldest daughter, Antónia de Paiva, and to her successors afterwards. If Antónia de Paiva dies without successors, the entail shall pass to Margarida Antunes, sister of Ana Antunes, and to her children.

Will (extract) by which Leonor Francesa declares she had bequeathed her nephew, Duarte de Castro, son of her sister Beatriz Vaz, her farmstead in Oeiras and her houses in Lisboa, as an entail, with an obligation of marrying two orphans every year and ordering two divine offices annually in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, one for her soul and the other for the soul of her sister Joana Francesa. She had made this donation as an entail in a deed dated 1566-05-22. As her nephew had died, she afterwards donated her entail to Duarte's son, Diogo de Castro, when he was still minor, in 1583-08-11. She confirms this donation and declares that the entail shall pass to his descendants with the same obligation of masses.

They designated Manuel Gonçalves Campelo to be its first administrator and, after his death, this entail should be succeeded by his eldest son. This entail is composed of a public debt instrument of 100 000 réis in Estanco do Contrato do Tabaco, with the obligation to save 40 000 réis for the chaplain and the remaining part for the administrator.
