The revenues extracted from those assets should support the celebration of 4 annual masses in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Luísa Franca bequeaths the revenue of her houses in Lisboa to her niece, Maria Pinheiro Miranda, with the obligation of 80 masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. Another extract of the same will mentions a donation of twelve alqueires of wheat whilst another foro isn't "destratado", which the institutor gives to José Guterres, son of Jorge Guterres, her nephew, under the condition that if he dies without descendants, it shall pass to his sister, Catarina de Góis, who can bequeath it to her children. If she has no descendants, it shall be given to the Misericórdia of Lisboa. And if the foro is "destratado", the person who at that time charges the wheat will have to order 100 masses for her soul.

Will (extract) by which D. Maria da Guerra, widow of Francisco de Barros de Paiva, entails her quinta in ribeira de Loures, called Casal da Freira, which she inherited from her husband, entailing it. Will (extract) by which Baltazar Vaz appoints his brother, Pedro Vaz, guadamecileiro, as his heir and executor, bequeathing him his houses in Lisboa, with the obligation of 10 masses for his and his wife's soul. If Pedro Vaz dies without descendants, the entail shall be bequeathed to Paulo do Rego, Baltazar Vaz's nephew, and to his successors thereafter.

Will (extract) by which Bárbara Gonçalves bequeaths her daughter, Violante Gil, wife of Belchior Correia, her houses and a vineyard in Palma de Baixo, Lisboa, with the obligation of 6 annual masses, three in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa and three in the convent of S. Domingos of Benfica. If by the time of Bárbara Gonçalves's death Violante Gil has already died, the entail shall be bequeathed to her granddaughter, Leonor Correia, and to her succession thereafter.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz Francisca bequeaths her sister, Catarina Francisca, wife of Lançarote Pires, the obligation of four annual masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, entailed to the revenue of a terra de pão called "Cabra Fica", a vineyard, and an olive grove in Fonte Santa, Loures. At the time of Catarina Francisca's death, the entail shall be bequeathed to her eldest son, Luís Pires, or to one of her second sons, and to their successors thereafter.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar Lopes de Murga declares his intention of being buried in the chapel he was building in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where his parents and siblings were also buried. Will (extract), by which António Peres Vilhanção bequeaths his herdade da "Roteia" to his nephew, Lourenço Álvares, son of his cousin Diogo da Silveira, of which he pays foro to the son of the Count of Vimioso, and another herdade nearby, with the obligation of five annual masses in the church of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Maria Fernandes, António Bocarro's wife, orders that the remaining part of the third of her assets shall be entailed with the third part of her husband's assets, or separated from it, according to his will, with the obligation of one daily mass and one anual mass for her and her relative's souls.

Will (extract) by which padre Luís da Paz establishes a chapel of 50 annual masses in his memory, 25 in the church of S. Martinho of Sintra and 25 in the church of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. He entais to it his farmstead in Galamares, Sintra. He appoints Jerónima, his relative, daughter of Filipe Lopes and Maria Feia, as his universal heir and first administrator of the chapel, with the condition that the chapel shall only be inherited by her descendants or, if she has none, by descendants of Luís da Paz's father, Sebastião da Paz, or of his grandfather, Domingos Salter.

Will (extract) by which Francisca Antunes appoints her great-niece and goddaughter, Leonarda, daughter of her niece Francisca Lopes and of João de Aguiar, as her universal heir. She bequeaths her all of her properties entailed to her chapel in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, which include houses in Lisboa, in rua do Almada, the casal da Falagueira and a casal foreiro to the convent of Almoster, with the obligation of 12 masses for her soul and a pitcher and a half of oil for the lamp of the Santíssimo Sacramento. If her great-niece dies without descendants, the properties shall be bequeathed to her brother, Agostinho de Aguiar, or to her sister, Helena de Aguiar, or to Francisca Lopes and João de Aguiar, if all their children die without succession. If all of them die without succesion, the chapel shall be bequeathed instead to Catarina de Sena and her successors. If Francisca Antunes's lineage is extinguished, the chapel shall be bequeathed to the confraria dos Fiéis de Deus of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Lourenço Vieira establishes an entail on his farmstead in Lumiar, Lisboa, near the church of S. João. He bequeaths it to his nephew, Lourenço Vieira, with the obligation of four annual masses in the chapel of S. Lourenço of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, on the days of S. João Evangelista, Jesus, Easter and S. Lourenço, and other twelve masses on each first Sunday of every month. He also orders that he and his sucessors take 50 000 reis of the third parts of their inheritances to keep the chapel repaired. If by the time of Lourenço Vieira's death his nephew has already died, the entail shall be bequeathed to his sister, Beatriz Vieira.

Will (extract) by which Isabel Fernandes bequeaths her son, António Gonçalves, and his descendants afterwards, houses in Lisboa, with the obligation of a daily mass in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. If her son doesn't have any heirs, his sister, Isabel Gonçalves, shall succeed, as well as her descendants.

Will (extract) by which Antónia Jácome bequeaths Maria das Neves, whom she raised, her houses in Lisboa, with the obligation of one divine office for her soul every year in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Dinis Gonçalves and his wife, Mécia Dias, unite the third parts of their inheritances, establishing an entail and a chapel in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, with the obligation of two weekly masses and three annual masses. At the time of their death, the administration shall be bequeathed to Brás Soares, Mécia Dias's son and Dinis Gonçalves's stepson, and to his successors.

Will (extract) by which padre Cosme Luís da Silva annexes multiple foros he owns to the chapel established by his mother, Juliana Gomes, of which he is the first administrator. He adds to its obligations one annual mass for his soul, and appoints his brother, Ambrósio da Silva, as his heir, according to his mother's will, and Ambrósio's son, Luís da Silva, after him.

Will (extract) by which Aleixo Fernandes establishes an entail with his properties in Nossa Senhora do Amparo, Burrel and Urmeiro, in the outskirts of Lisboa and Sintra. He appoints his sister, Maria das Neves, to be its first administrator, obligating her to celebrate 20 annual masses in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. After her death it should be inherited by Padre Roque Luis, their brother. The eldest son or daughter of Maria das Neves would become administrator of the entail after Roque's death.

Will (extract) by which Ana de Góis establishes an entail with houses in Lisboa, in Rua dos Fornos. She bequeaths it to her niece, Luísa Pereira, wife of her will's executor, and to her descendants, with the obligation of six masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which António Antunes establishes an entail in his houses in Lisboa, in Rua da Horta Seca. He bequeaths them to his wife, Maria Dias, and to their successors, with the obligation of 66 masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, 60 for his soul and 6 for the souls of Baltazar Fernandes and Francisca Nunes, his wife's uncle and aunt. If their family line is extinguished, the entail shall be left to the Misericórdia of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Rodrigo Fernandes de Évora declares that he had reached an agreement with the friars of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa for them to celebrate annual masses for his soul in the chapel of S. Tomás. He also states that he wants his properties to be entailed to a chapel, which should be administrated by members of his lineage.

Will (extract) by which Salvador Esteves bequeaths his second wife, Catarina Neto, all his silver and gold, so she can buy properties to annex to his quinta das Marnotas in Loures, in an entail. He establishes an obligation of a sung mass every Sunday, and holiday of Nossa Senhora, in the monastery of Trindade, for his soul. He also establishes an annual mass for the soul of his first wife, Margarida Carvalho, and their son, Francisco Carvalho, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where they are buried. Catarina Neto will have the capacity to appoint one of her daughters as the next administrator of the chapel. If none of them are alive, it shall be bequeathed to their closest relative. He also bequeaths money to the Irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Paraíso to pray more masses in both monasteries.

Will (extract) by which Maria Birrenta adds ten masses to the chapel established by her husband, to be prayed in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She bequeaths this obligation to her heir, João Simões, and asks that, after he solves the bail of the houses entailed by her husband, he buys more properties to entail to the chapel. While those houses aren't sold, he shall have the obligation of 16 masses, 6 for her husband's uncle and first wife, and ten for her and her husband's souls.

Will (extract) by which Manuel Fernandes da Índia bequeaths half of his houses in S. João da Praça to Antónia Fernandes, wife of Gonçalo Fernandes and his relative in third degree, and the other half to her son, Tomé de Alvarenga, so he can become a clergyman. He entails to them an obligation of 100 masses to be prayed each year in the day of S. Gonçalo, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried.

Will (extract) by which D. Maria de Meneses establishes a daily mass for her soul in the altar where her burial place is, to be entailed to a public debt instrument she possesses.

Will (extract) by which Diogo de Contreiras and Inês Nunes, his wife, declare that, after the death of one of them, the surviving spouse should inherit all the couple's patrimony, including houses in Santarém and Lisboa, with the obligation of using its revenues to support the celebration of annual masses for their souls. They also mention that if they win the legal action which opposes them to Álvaro Pacheco's heirs, thus obtaining other houses in Lisboa, part of its revenues should be used to fulfil pious obligations.

Will (extract) by which Inês Nunes establishes an entail with houses in Lisboa, appointing Leonor de Almeida, her sister and João Vaz's wife, as its first administrator and ordering her to support the celebration of 25 annual masses in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. After Leonor's death, it would be passed to her son, Duarte Vaz.
The testator also bequeaths other houses in Lisboa to Beatriz Nunes, her sister and Gaspar Ferreira's wife, instituting the pious obligation of celebrating 25 annual masses for her soul in the referred church. After Beatriz's death, the entail would be inherited by one of her legitimate sons. Inês chooses to be buried in the mentioned church.

Will (extract) by which D. Josefa Lobo expresses her wish to be buried in the chapel of S. Francisco of the convent of S. Francisco de Lisboa, established by her grandfather, Francisco da Rocha, and adds an obligation of three annual masses to the chapel established by her mother, D. Mariana da Rocha, in the same convent, totaling 55 annual masses. She entails to it a public debt instrument set in the Cabana do Pescado d'el Rei to this obligation. She appoints her son as her heir, and his successors afterwards.

Will (extract) made by Isabel Lopes in which she ordered the foundation of an entail with a perpetual pious obligation of a mass celebrated every week in the mother church of Nisa. She appointed João Lopes to be the first administrator during his lifetime and, after his death, he shall be succeeded by the institution's closest relative, who was a cleric.

Will (extract) by which Margarida do Avelar de Mendonça appoints her daughter, D. Maria de Melo, as her heir. She establishes an obligation of 20 masses for her soul in the chapterhouse of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where she wishes to be buried. She entails her houses in Portela to this obligation If her daughter dies before her, the entail shall be bequeathed to another relative.

Will (extract) by which Branca de Andrade establishes a chapel of two weekly masses and other annual masses, entailing to it a public debt instrument of 10 000 reis from the Alfândega of Lisboa. This public debt instrument shall be given to the syndic of the convent, who shall give notice every year of the fullfilment of these obligations to Branca's nephew, Vicente de Brito, or to his mother, D. Francisca, and their heirs. She also gives 20 000 reis of interest to her niece, D. Isabel de Andrade, wife of Gaspar Homem, and after her death to her son, João Homem, so they will give offerings at the weekly masses.

Will (extract) by which Manuel Simões establishes an obligation of 12 annual masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa for his and his first wife's soul. He entails it to part of the houses where he lives, which he bequeaths to his eldest son, Luís, son of his first wife, Ana Martins, and to his successors. If his son dies before him, or without descendants, the obligation shall pass to one of his sisters, Isabel or Filipa.

Will (extract) by which Maria Soares establishes a chapel with a weekly mass in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She entails to it her houses in Correaria. She appoints her daughter, D. Mariana, as administrator of her chapel.

Will (extract) through which Isabel Nogueira bequeaths all her patrimony, including houses in Lisboa, to her brother, Gregório de Morais de Távora, her only heir and executor of her will. She orders him to sell those houses and use the sale's profit to buy properties or a public debt instrument, obligating him to celebrate annual masses for her soul and those of her late husband, Francisco da Costa, her parents and late son in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She declares that her mortal remains should be buried inside that church and that her husband's bones must be transferred to her grave.

Will (extract) by which Pedro de Gouveia establishes a chapel of three annual masses and one divine office for his soul in the chapter house of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, or, if possible, in the hermitage of his farmstead. He entails to this obligation his properties of Padrão and houses in Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Leonor Rodrigues bequeaths houses in Lisboa to Diogo de Oliveira, the executor of her will, with the obligation of celebrating annual masses for her soul in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of that city. She declares that those houses could never be sold and should be transmitted to the descendants of Diogo and his wife.

Will (extract) made by António de Lila de Fernão Pó in which he bequeathed his own reserved portion to his daughter Isabel Pravasso to help on the costs of her marriage, and if she died unmarried or without children, it would be transmitted to her brother Pedro Pravasso, with a perpetual pious obligation of one sung mass in All Souls Day in every year.

Will (extract) by which doutor Bartolomeu Bernardes bequeaths his daughter, Lucrécia Bernardes, the third part of his properties, consisting of houses in Lisboa, with an obligation of four annual masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried. If his daughter dies without descendants, they shall be given to his son, Bernardo de Aguiar. If he also has no descendants, it shall be given to the Confraria do Santíssimo Sacramento of the church of Mártires.

Will (extract) made by João Trigo in which he ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of masses celebrated every year in the church of Santa Maria of Viana. He appointed Catarina Soajo to be the first administrator during her lifetime and, after her death, she shall be succeeded by closest male heir of the institutor.

Will (extract) made in Ilha do Fogo by Margarida da Rosa, in which she ordered the foundation of two chapels. The first chapel would be composed of half of a farm and three enslaved persons, with a perpetual pious obligation of three masses celebrated in every year, and to administrate it she named her nephew António Pires and his descendants after him. The second chapel would be composed of the other half of that farm and three enslaved persons, with a perpetual pious obligation of three masses celebrated in every year, and to administrate it she named her godson Lopo de Barros and his descendants after him.

Will (extract) made by Francisco Carrasco and his wife Isabel Dias, in which they bequeathed a farm they possessed in Fragoso with all the enslaved persons that could be found in it to Jerónimo Gonçalves, thereby establishing a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of nine masses celebrated in every year.

Will (extract) by which Pedro de Carnide bequeaths the third part of his assets, including houses in Lisboa, to his wife, Maria Seabra, with the obligation of celebrating 9 annual masses dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Will (extract) by which Margarida Machado, widow of João da Vitória Pacheco, expresses her wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She bequeaths Diogo Machado da Silva, pintor a óleo, her executor, her houses in Lisboa with an obligation of 24 annual masses, 12 for her husband, according to his will, and 12 for herself.

Will (extract) by which Joana Figueira expresses her wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. She orders the selling of her houses in Lisboa to buy one moio of wheat to entail to an obligation of a mass on the days of the Virgin. She appoints her niece, Isabel Jorge, daughter of her sister Antónia Rodrigues and of Diogo Gomes, as her successor, and her descendants afterwards.

Will (extract) by which Isabel Afonso entails her houses in Lisboa with an obligation of four annual masses. She bequeaths them to her granddaughter, Isabel, daughter of her daughter, Maria Pereira.

Will (extract) by which Bartolomeu Velho e Sousa appoints his sister-in-law, Antónia Pedroso, as his universal heir, with the obligation of a weekly mass for his and his wife's soul and the keeping of a torch lit every thursday in a church of her choice. He authorizes her to use his properties to buy assets to entail to this obligation.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar Fernandes, ourives da prata, bequeaths to Isabel, daughter of Margarida Godinho and Pedro Botelho, and her descendants, some houses in the parish of Mártires, Lisboa, with the obligation of 33 masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, for his, his wife's and his mother-in-law's souls. If Isabel doesn't have any children, the entail shall be bequeathed to Gaspar Fernandes's daughter, Jerónima da Maia, wife of Fernando Duarte, and to their descendants.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar Pais establishes a chapel of 40 annual masses with the revenue of 6 000 reis from a foro in S. Bento dos Lóios. He bequeaths it to his wife, Auta Rodrigues, who, at the time of her death, can appoint whomever she wishes as administrator.

Will (extract) by which Francisco Cardoso Leite bequeaths a rent (foro) of 2 600 réis he had in the farmstead (quinta) of Cruz da Pedra to Marcos de Barreira de Carvalho, Lidoro Bonchel de Carvalho's son, or to any administrators of his entail, with the pious obligation of celebrating an annual mass for the soul of Francisco's grandmother, Antónia Cardoso, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Benfica.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar Mendes Borges expresses his wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. He establishes a chapel of two annual masses, entailing to it the quinta do Lumiar, which he had received from his wife's dowry. As his wife, Paula da Silva, is pregnant, he appoints the future child as his universal heir. If the pregnancy doesn't come to full term, he appoints his brother, Francisco Borges, as his heir, and his successors afterwards.

Will (extract) by which Manuel Veloso de Almeida, appoints his eldest son, Francisco de Almeida, as administrator of the chapel established by Gonçalo Carvalho, first husband of his wife, Francisca Pires. He explains that Francisca Pires, who is deceased, had appointed him administrator at the time of their marriage. He had taken from the obligations half an annual of masses. After a while, however, he had re-established that obligation, and he now requests another half of an annual to be prayed.

Will (extract) by which André da Costa invokes Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem and entails 2 000 reis and his properties with the obligation of two weekly masses and an annual divine office in the church of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Joana Gomes bequeaths her houses in Lisboa to her husband, Pedro de Alcáçova, entailing to them an obligation of 20 annual masses in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of that city. After her husband's death, the houses shall pass to his son, Joana's stepson, Luís de Alcáçova, and to his descendants.

Will (extract) by which D. Isabel de Eça bequeaths her granddaughter, D. Maria Manuel, her casal in Almeirim, with an obligation of two annual masses, one in the chapel of her grandfather in Santa Cruz, and the other in the chapel of Chagas of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa. The obligation shall pass to her granddaughter's heirs.

Will (extract) by which doutor João Bravo Chamisso, cirurgião-mor do Reino, and D. Ana de Abreu, his wife, appoint one another as each other's universal heirs. They order the one of them who survives the other to buy properties to entail to an obligation of a daily mass in the church where they are buried.

Will (extract) by which D. Luísa da Silva established an entail, designating her sister to be its first administrator and, after her death, her nephew Rodrigo de Miranda. The institutor also ordered her sister to buy a public debt instrument in some Monastery in order to celebrate masses for her and her husband's soul. This entail is composed of a "marinha" located in Alcácer do Sal and a "herdade do Álimo", on the outskirts of Beja.

Will (extract) by which Luísa de Noronha established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses wherever the administrator wanted. She designated her husband's son-in-law, João Cisnel, to be its first administrator and, after his death, whomever he chose. After her husband's death it should be given to an orphan a dowry of 10 000 réis and bread to the poor. This entail is composed of the rents from land called "galinheiro", located in Terceira island.

Will (extract) by which Maria de Abreu Faria ordered her eldest son, José Correia de Abreu, to buy a public debt instrument or properties with the third part of her assets and to use its revenues to support the celebration of a perpetual daily mass for her soul and for the soul of her husband, Filipe Correia, in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa, where her body would be buried. The chapel should be administrated by him during his lifetime and, at the time of his death, inherited by his eldest son.

Will (extract) by which Maria das Neves bequeaths and olive grove in Santa Iria, on the outskirts of Lisboa, to her nephew, Domingos Jorge, determining that him and his descendants must support the celebration of 20 annual masses for her soul in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of that city. At the time of his death, Domingos Jorge should transmit it to his eldest son, who would pass it to his successors. If the former dies childless, the entail has to be inherited by Manuel Antunes, the institutor's nephew and Vicência Antunes' son. The olive grove could never be sold.

Will (extract) by which Luísa Chamosa expresses her wish to be buried with her husband, Cristóvão Alcoforado, in the chancel of the church of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, with an obligation of half an annual of masses for each of them, to which two public debt instruments of 10 000 réis shall be entailed. She establishes an entail with her properties, and designates as heir, after her husband's death, D. Jorge, son of D. António de Noronha and of D. Briolanja, and his successors and relatives from his mother's line. If her heirs don't fulfill the obligations of her will in two years, the entail and obligations shall pass to the priests of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade.

Will (extract) by which Paulo João and Margarida Esteves, his wife, left a vineyard in Carnide to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisboa, asking their members to lease it and to use the rent to support the celebration of 7 annual masses for their souls. If the institution refused that donation, the entail should be transmitted to the closest living relative of Margarida Esteves and administrated by his/her descendants. The entailed property could never be sold.

Will (extract) by which Margarida Alves de Quintanilha expresses her wish to be buried in the monastery of Santíssima Trindade de Lisboa, in the tomb of her father, João de Quintanilha. She requests her heir, Cristóvão Ferreira, to buy properties to entail to an obligation of 8 000 réis of masses for her soul, the soul of her parents, and the soul of her sister, Cosma Rodrigues. He shall appoint the next administrator.

Will (extract) by which Simão Nunes established a chapel in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa, entailing to it the third part of his assets, including houses in Rua Ver-o-Peso, Lisboa. He designated his wife, Joana Nunes, to become its first administrator, determining that she and her successors must celebrate annual masses for her soul during Christmas and on the day of S. Simão. She was also obligated to give a pension of 20 000 réis each year to Teresa de Jesus, his daughter, as long as the latter lived. After the death of the first administrator, the chapel had to be inherited by Simão, the institutor's son, and passed to his descendants.

Will (extract) by which the administrator Francisco Rodrigues de Elvas designated his nephew António Gomes de Elvas to be his heir, giving him some houses in Lisboa and a public debt instrument of 91 750 réis in Almoxarifado do Campo de Ourique. He was due to order the celebration of masses for the soul of his aunt Francisca Lopes and his sister Maior Ângela.

Will (extract) by which Jorge Barreiros bequeaths the third part of his assets to Isabel Lopes, his wife, determining that it should be employed in the acquisition of a property, which must be united to the entail left to him by his first wife, Isabel de Soveral. After Isabel Lopes' death, the entail should be inherited by Diogo Barreiros, the testator's grandson, and subsequently passed to his eldest son. Each administrator of the entail are obligated to add to it the third part of their assets and masses to the ones celebrated for the souls of the institutors. Will (extract) by which Isabel Lopes, Jorge Barreiros' widow, bequeaths the third part of her assets to Jorge Barreiros, her son. She forgives Diogo Barreiros a debt of 52 000 réis on the condition that he must buy a property to entail to the chapel established by his grandparents, Isabel de Soveral and Jorge Barreiros, and use its revenues to support the celebration of 3 annual masses for the testator's soul in the church of S. João da Praça. She declares that her body must be buried inside the chapel of Fiéis de Deus, next to her husband. If her remains could not be deposited there, the request made to Diogo Barreiros becomes void and her son is obligated to establish an entail with a property and to use its revenues to celebrate annual masses in the chapel of Nossa Senhora-a-Franca of the church of S. Tiago for her soul.

Will (extract) by which Diogo Barreiros bequeaths the third part of his assets to Maria Nunes, his wife, obligating her to celebrate annual masses for her soul in the church of S. João da Praça of Lisboa, only during her lifetime. After her death, those assets must be entailed to the chapel established by Isabel de Soveral and Jorge Barreiros, his grandparents, which shall be administrated by Jorge Barreiros, son of the institutor and of Isabel Lopes. He declares that, when his grandmother established the entail, she did so without defining which way it should be administrated and who should inherit it. Subsequently, the King D.
