Will (extract) by which João Dias Correia bequeaths vineyards and olive groves in Charneca and houses in Lisboa to Francisco, Manuel Luís and Tomásia Dias' son, with the obligation of celebrating 80 annual masses for his soul and the souls of his grandmother and father in the church of Nossa Senhora da Vitória or in the church of Santa Justa of that city. After Francisco's death, the entail should be passed to one of his descendants.
The testator also leaves houses in Lisboa and vineyards in S. João dos Bem Casados to his heirs, asking them to give alms to 12 poor people on S. John the Baptist's day and to send, each year, a poor man to pray for him in the church where his grave will be placed.

Will (extract) by which Baltasar Fernandes and his wife, Florência Rodrigues de Faria, entail their farmstead in Varatojo with an obligation of a daily mass in the church of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where they built a chapel. They designate Luís Álvares da Fonseca Coutinho, son of Florência de Faria, cousin of Florência Rodrigues de Faria, and godson of Baltasar Fernandes, as first administrator, and his successors afterwards. If he dies before the institutors, the last one of them can appoint another administrator.

Paula da Silva, grandmother of his wife, had bequeathed him a vineyard with an obligation of ordering two weekly masses and other pious obligations in the chapel of Jesus of the church of S. Julião do Tojal. He requests his wife to entail the farmlands in Lisboa which they both inherited from D. Paula da Silva with an obligation of six weekly masses in the church of the convent of Madre de Deus de Lisboa, where he wishes to be buried. He also requests her to entail these properties to the chapel of her grandmother, if the ones entailed aren't enough to fulfill the obligations. After her death, they shall be inherited by one of their children. If she has no successors, they shall pass to the heirs of his entail.

Will (extract) by which D. Maria Soares, widow of João Alves Soares da Veiga de Avelar Taveira, annexes to the chapel of her grandmother, D. Paula da Silva, part of an olive grove in Lisboa. This chapel was in S. Julião do Tojal, had an obligation of two weekly masses and had been administered by D. Maria Soares' husband. She entails the remaining free part of the same olive grove to an obligation of two weekly masses in the church of the convent of Madre de Deus de Xabregas for the soul of her husband, who is buried there, thus fulfilling his will. She appoints her son, Jerónimo Soares, as administrator of both chapels. He can appoint the next administrator.
Followed by contract and bond deed between D. Jerónimo Soares, bispo de Viseu, son of D. Maria Soares and João Alves Soares da Veiga de Avelar Taveira, and the abbess and nuns of the convent of Madre de Deus, dated 1702-09-21, containing another extract of this will.

If Diogo Soares survives his wife, he choses to leave the administration of the chapel and entail to the mordomos of the confraria do Santo Sacramento of S. Salvador. Its revenues would sustain a chaplain, who would be responsible for celebrating a daily perpetual mass for their souls. After the death of the surviving member of the couple, the chapel shall be administrated by Lourenço Gomes, sombreireiro, and subsequently passed to his youngest daughter, Isabel Pinto.

Will (extract) by which Ana Wandenhuvel bequeaths her daughter, Ana de Bois, married to João Lemercier, her farmstead in Caparica, Almada, and money, entailed as a chapel, with an obligation of two annual masses for her soul in the church of the convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus of Lisboa. The administration of the chapel shall be made by appointment among her descendants, so the chapel is always in her generation. This farmstead already had an obligation of 5 000 réis to the monastery of Nossa Senhora da Rosa of Lisboa, which she requests her daughter to take from the farmstead.

He designated his mother, Bárbara Afonso, to administrate it, obligating her to celebrate annual masses for his soul in that church. She would be succeeded by someone appointed by her.

The latter would be responsible to appoint a female successor within her family. The institutor obligated her and her successors to support the celebration of a weekly mass for her soul in the church where her body would be buried. Those houses could never be sold or exchanged for others.

Will (extract) by which Mécia Fernandes bequeathed lands (casa) in Valejas, located on the outskirts of Lisboa, to Jorge Lopes, obligating him and his successors to support the celebration of 10 annual masses for her soul and the soul of her sister, Leonor Fernandes, in the churches of S. Miguel and S. Pedro of Alfama. The properties could never be sold or exchanged for others. Jorge Lopes had to appoint the entail's next administrator or, if he died before doing it, to transmit it to his eldest son.
The testator leaves, also, houses in Beco do Lagar do Mel, Lisboa, to her criado, Rodrigo, determining that him and his descendants had to celebrate 5 annual masses for her soul in the church of S. Miguel. Those houses could never be sold. If Rodrigo did not produce an heir, the entailed property would be added to the entail left to Jorge Lopes.

Will (extract) by which António Fernandes bequeathed houses in Lisboa to his mother, Isabel Fernandes, who had to leave them, at the time of her death, to a woman appointed by him. This woman would be obligated to give, each year, 3 cruzados to the brotherhood of the Fiéis de Deus, which would be responsible for celebrating a perpetual monthly mass for the testator's soul in the church of S. Pedro of Alfama. The houses could never be sold or exchanged for others. After the woman's death, the entail would be inherited by a relative chosen by her.

The institutor designated her brother Ascenso Dias to be its first administrator and he could nominate one of his children to succeed. She also left to her nephew Manuel Dias Rangel a "censo" of some "atafonas" in Lisboa, with the obligation to order the celebration of masses for her soul.

Nicolau of Lisboa, entailing her farmsteads and lands in Alhandra, Arruda dos Vinhos, Alcântara and houses in Lisboa. She appoints Álvaro Nunes, Escudeiro, escrivão da Casa do Cível, to be its first administrator, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of a daily mass for her soul in that church. Will (extract) by which Álvaro da Cunha, grandson of Gonçalo Vaz de Melo, mestre-sala do rei D. Afonso V, declares that he is the administrator of the chapel established by António Durães, which he inherited from his grandfather, who was appointed administrator in 1471. He revokes a previous donation he had made to his daughter, D. Joana de Noronha, married to D. Bernardo de Noronha, through a dowry deed issued in 1554-09-13, of a casal named Formigais, in Sintra, which was entailed to the chapel. He orders instead that this casal shall be re-annexed to the chapel and given to his son, Jorge de Melo, who he appoints as his successor, and who shall appoint his eldest son as next administrator.

If she did so, the assets would be delivered to the vicar of the church of Santa Cruz of Lisboa, who would have the responsibility of maintaining a chaplain singing perpetual daily masses over his grave. If his wife did not remarry, she would administrate the properties with the obligation of supporting the celebration of daily perpetual masses for her husband's soul. Before her death, Constança could leave the entail to whomever she wished.

She institutes another a chapel, by entailing real estate to be administrated by Manuel Varela, married to Catarina Viegas, the institutor's criada, with the power to transmit the administration to a son or daughter after their deaths. These assets had already been given or promised to them as a marriage dowry.

Will (extract) made by João Gonçalves Folga na Palha in which he ordered the foundation of a chapel with a perpetual pious obligation of a mass celebrated every day in the church of Santa Cruz of Santarém. He appointed João de Basto to be the first administrator during his lifetime. Guiomar Rodrigues, João Gonçalves' wife, consents to the institution of the chapel and also entails her half of the assets. The successors were to be elected by the vigário of the church of Santa Cruz, the prior of the monastery of São Domingos and the guardião of the monastery of São Francisco.

Will (extract) by which Guiomar Galvão expresses her wish to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, in the chapel of the Ordem Terceira. She establishes a chapel of 110 masses entailed to the revenue of her houses in Beja, a casal in Torres Vedras and the revenue of a debt owed to her. This entail should be administrated by his nephew Pedro de Faria and, after his death, by his son or daughter. If he did not have children, the administration would be attached to the other entail he founded. In addition, he entailed different assets for the celebration of masses in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça de Lisboa, that should be administrated by Violante Maria. The successors must be descendants of Bartolomeu Sanches or António Sanches, nephews of the institutor. If there were no legitimate children, the administration should be attached to the other entail he founded.

He declares that he had previously made an agreement with its prior and friars, by which he promised to give them a public debt instrument of 24 000 réis in exchange for the celebration of annual masses for his soul and that of his wife. Nevertheless, it was still necessary to make a contract with the convent, which he urges his heirs to do. He appoints his wife, Inês Lopes, as the entail's first administrator, bequeathing her part of his assets which should be incorporated in it. He obligates her and her descendants to give, each year, 4 000 réis to that convent in order to assure the chapel's maintenance; to check the state of its ornaments; to donate 10 000 réis to the convent of S. Domingos and S. Francisco of Lisboa, each Holy Thursday. The testator allows his wife to choose one of her nephews or nieces to be her successor, as long as he/she resides in Lisboa. He demands his remains to be buried inside his chapel.

The one member surviving of the couple had to appoint whoever they wanted to administer the chapel. It contains a list of the ornaments and implements with which they intended to endow the chapel.

She and her descendants were obligated to support the celebration of 2 annual masses for the testators' souls in the church of S. João of Lumiar. If she died childless, the entail would be transmitted to the institutor's closest relative who used the family name "Lopes".
Margarida Dias declares that her assets must be inherited by her nephews, Gaspar Fernandes and Luísa Antunes, who were henceforth obligated to celebrate 4 annual masses for the testators' souls in that church. The latter is obligated to support the celebration of 120 annual masses in that church and to pass the entail to his closest male relative.
He also bequeaths houses in that city to Antónia da Silva, his servant and former slave, with the obligation of celebrating 5 annual masses in that church. She is free to leave them to whomever she chooses.
