She indicated that her husband had established a chapel in that convent, entailing to it stores in Rua Nova, and asked their daughter, Soror Joana de Jesus, to choose a chaplain to celebrate a perpetual daily mass for his soul.
The testator instituted another chapel in that convent, entailing to it his public debt instruments. She determined that Padre António de Sequeira would be its chaplain and that Jerónimo Leitão, her husband's nephew, would administrate both chapels. He had the obligation to give, each year, 20 000 réis to her daughter, only during her lifetime. After his death, the chapels would be administrated by António, his son, and subsequently transmitted to his descendants.

Pedro of Alfama, over his grave. After his wife's death, the houses would be inherited by her nephew, António Fernandes, and transmitted to his male descendants. The houses could never be sold or divided.

Will (extract) by which Cosme Pais bequeaths his houses in Lisboa to his wife's nephew, Domingos Fernandes, carpinteiro de casas, with an obligation of five annual masses in the church of Santo Estêvão de Alfama of Lisboa, for his soul and the soul of his deceased wife, Ana Gonçalves. The houses had been bought with an obligation of five other masses in the same church for the soul of Maria Dias da Herdade. If Domingos Fernandes dies before Cosme Pais, the houses shall pass to his brother, António Fernandes, alfaiate, or to his wife's closest relatives. If that does not happen, it should be transmitted to Maria de Sousa, the testator's niece. In order to ensure that the pious obligation would always be fulfiled, the testators link it to a rent (foro) of wheat, barley and chickens in a property in Casével, Santarém, which could never be sold or replaced for another asset.

Will (extract) by which Catarina Lopes established an entail, designating her nephew António Jorge to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses in the Church of São Marcos de Calhandriz, in Vila Franca de Xira. This entail is composed of a "casal" with its lands, houses and vineyards, located in the parish of São Tiago de Velhos and Bucelas.

Will (extract) by which Francisco Carvalho orders the acquisition of 5 000 réis of interest to give to the priests of the convent of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios of Lisboa for a weekly mass for his soul. He also orders another weekly mass and four annual ones for the soul of his second wife, Vitória da Costa, which she had entailed to the houses in Lisboa she had bequeathed him.

Will (extract) by which Cristina da Silva established an entail, designating her nephew Gonçalo de Pina Castelo Branco to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses wherever he wanted and to give to the Padres Capuchos of Mealhada oil to light a candle. This entail is composed of "prazos" and immovable assets located in Santo António do Tojal and on the outskirts of Loures.

Will (extract) through which Mateus de Araújo and Isabel Luís, his wife, designate one another to inherit their patrimony and establish that, after the death of one of them, the surviving member of the couple should support the celebration of a daily mass and 4 annual masses in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa. They determine that the entail's first administrator has the obligation to appoint a successor at the time of his/her death. Furthermore, the testators declare that any movable assets should be sold and the sale's profit used to buy properties to entail to the chapel. Isabel Luís indicates that she has a daughter of a previous marriage, Maria da Conceição, Simão Correia's wife, and that she must inherit part of her patrimony.

Will (extract) by which Francisco Ferreira established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses in the Church of Madalena or wherever the administrator wanted. He designated his wife Maria da Costa to be its first administrator and, if she died without heirs, the chapel should be administrated by the Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento. This entail is composed of houses located in Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Gaspar de Paiva established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses and to give to his niece Catarina Marques de Paiva, a nun, a pension of 60 000 réis. He designated Jorge Gomes do Alemo to be its first administrator and, after his death, his son António Gomes do Alemo. By the death of both, it should succeed the heirs of Diogo Rodrigues de Lisboa's entail, following the same succession clauses.

Will (extract) by which Francisco Dias da Costa established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses. He left 10 000 réis to buy some assets in order to fulfil this obligation.

Will (extract) by which Bartolomeu Bernardes expresses his wish to be buried under the pulpit of the church of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, where his parents are buried. He entails his vineyards in Benfica and Granja with an obligation of annual masses, and bequeaths them to his daughter, Inácia da Cunha, who he designates as his universal heir.

Will (extract) by which D. Catarina da Silva bequeaths half of her houses in Lisboa to her husband, Bernardo Corte-Real, under the condition that they should be sold after his death to buy a rent to entail to an obligation of masses for both their souls.

Will (extract) by which Catarina Ramires orders her heir and executor to use the money she has invested to buy properties to entail to an obligation of nine annual masses for her soul in a church or convent of his choice. Her heir can chose the next administrator.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz de Ornelas bequeaths houses in Lisboa to D. Joana de Faria, Luís de Faria's daughter, determining that she and her descendants must celebrate annual masses for the testator's soul and the souls of her relatives in the churches of Santo André and Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa. If the entail's first administrator dies without leaving any children, the entailed properties should be inherited by Margarida Pimentel, the institutor's niece. The testator declares that her body should be buried inside the church of Santo André.

Will (extract) by which Catarina Cardoso established an entail with her farmstead (quinta), lands and houses near Chafariz de Arroios, Lisboa, and properties in Loures, designating her cousin to administrate it. He and his descendants were obligated to support the celebration of annual masses for her soul and for the souls of her relatives in the church of Santa Maria Madalena of Lisboa.

Will (extract) by which Jerónimo Serrão Pimentel established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses wherever the administrator wanted. He also ordered the sale of some assets from his estate, using 20 000 réis for the payment of the pious obligations.

Will (extract) by which Cosme Feio, Fernando Feio and Isabel Dias' son, bequeaths the third part of his assets, including lands (casal) in Galés, Mafra, to his daughter, Isabel, obligating her and her descendants to celebrate a mass, each year, on the day of Santa Eulália in the hermitage of Santa Eulália for the souls of his parents. Those properties could never be sold or exchanged for others. The entail must be inherited by the eldest son of Isabel or, if she does not have any children, by the closest male relative of the institutor.

Will (extract) by which João de Sepúlveda established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses. He designated his cousin D. Maria Ana de Faria to be its first administrator. This entail is composed of a vineyard called "Almaes" in the place of Vale Formoso, in the outskirts of Lisboa. Followed by an undated inventory (extract).

Will (extract) by which Joana Camela de Carvalho established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses. She designated her sister Maria Camelo de Carvalho to be its first administrator and if she died childless, the successor should be another sister of hers, Isabel Ribeiro de Carvalho. This entail is composed of a "casal" located in Sintra.

Will (extract) by which Inês de Valadares established an entail, designating her granddaughter Inês to be its first administrator. If she died without children, it should succeed another grandson of hers, Luís. The administrator was due to order the celebration of masses wherever she wanted and to use the money at interest in the Colégio of Santo Antão de Lisboa, to buy some immovable goods and to be incorporated into the chapel.

Will (extract) by which the niece of Inês Rodrigues declared that her aunt established an entail with the obligation to celebrate masses for her soul. The institutor's niece designated her daughter to be its administrator and, if she died childless, it should succeed her sister and her heirs. This entail is composed of land in Pombal, parish of São Marcos de Calhandriz.

Will (extract) by which D. João Pimenta de Abreu, bispo de Angra, established an entail, designating his nieces D. Catarina and D. Inês to be his heirs. If one of them died without heirs, it should succeed the other, and if both died without children, this entail should be transmitted to his closest kin. They were due to order the celebration of masses wherever they wanted. Followed by an approval deed dated 1632-12-12. Preceded by some notes he left dated 1632-09-22 where the institutor declared that he wanted to give manumission of some slaves, to light a candle in Misericórdia de Lisboa and left everything he had to his nieces for them to get married.

Will (extract) by which D. Francisca de Meneses establishes three entails of female succession. First, she bequeaths her lands in Linda-a-Velha, Oeiras, to her sister, with an obligation of two annual masses. After her sister's death, they shall pass to her niece, D. Úrsula, with the same obligation. D. Úrsula shall build houses in those lands to be the head of the entail. Second, she bequeaths her sister two stores in Lisboa, with another obligation of two annual masses. After her sister's death, they shall pass to her niece, D. Isabel. Third, she orders 2 000 réis of masses in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, entailed to a lease in Nossa Senhora dos Olivais, of which her brother, padre Frei Vicente, shall have the usufruct during his lifetime, and which shall pass after his death to D. Ana, their niece, with the same obligation. If one of her nieces dies without successors, the other two can inherit their entails. If none of them has descendants, the entails shall be inherited by the daughters of their brothers.
She also bequeaths to D. Úrsula a lease with an obligation of four annual masses for the soul of the daughter of her nurse, also buried in the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, who had bequeathed them to her with that condition.

Will (extract) by which Ana Luís established an entail using part of her third. The institutor appointed her daughter Maria Quaresma to be its first administrator. She was due to order the celebration of masses with the rents of some mills.

Will (extract) by which Beatriz de Mendonça established an entail, appointing her son Lourenço da Silva to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses for her soul.

Will (extract) by which Maria Francisca establishes an entail with houses and a vineyard in Bucelas, designating her nephew to administrate it. He and his successors must support the celebration of an annual mass for the institutor's soul in the convent of S. Romão of Alverca do Ribatejo.
She also bequeaths a property in Bucelas to her sister, Ana Francisca, obligating her to support the celebration of 3 annual masses for her soul in that convent. Following her death, Mariana Cordeiro, the testator's niece, would administrate it and pass it to her descendants.
The testator also declares that none of the entailed properties should ever be sold or exchanged for others.

Will (extract) by which Sebastião Álvares and his wife Maria Manuel established an entail obligated to the celebration of masses for their soul. They appointed each other as heirs, and their daughter Antónia Manuel to be its first administrator. If she died without heirs, it should succeed in this entail the other sons Luís Álvares and Manuel Álvares. This entail is composed of lands, vineyards, winepress and "serrado" located in the place of Prioja, in Outeiro da Cruz.

Will (extract) by which Pedro Alves entails a casal in Cascais with an obligation of several annual masses in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, where he wishes to be buried. He designates his daughter, Francisca Antunes, as first administrator of his entail, and her descendants afterwards.

Will (extract) by which Valentim de Barona entails his houses in Lisboa with an obligation of 50 annual masses for his soul and the soul of his wife, Maria da Costa, in the church of the monastery of Nossa Senhora do Carmo. He designates his daughter, Maria de Barona, married to Francisco Vales, as first administrator of his entail, and her descendants afterwards. If she doesn't have any, the entail shall pass to her sister, Leonor de Barona, married to Jacques Verjões, and to her successors. He donates other properties to his granddaughter, also called Maria de Barona, nun in the monastery of Odivelas, which must be annexed to his entail after her death.

Will (extract) by which Catarina de França entails her houses in Lisboa. She bequeaths half of them to her niece, Filipa de França, and the other to her nephew, António de França, children of her brother, Belchior de França. Each of them, and their successors, must order one annual mass in the convent of S. Francisco de Xabregas, Lisboa, where she wishes to be buried.
